Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Policy undergraduate or graduate intern for the 2024/2025 school year, preference for University of Texas. This role is ideal for students majoring in Policy or a related field, who are set to graduate in 2025. As an intern, you will work closely with our management team, gaining hands-on experience in researching market conditions, federal and state energy policy, and utility regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Policy Research: Assist in monitoring and analyzing federal, state, and local energy policies and their impact on the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar and energy storage.
Regulatory Analysis: Help track regulatory developments affecting energy markets and assist with summarizing utility filings and policy reports.
Market Assessments: Support the team in conducting market research related to renewable energy deployment, including reviewing utility programs and renewable portfolio standards.
Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in drafting summaries of key energy-related legislation and support preparation for stakeholder meetings and policy discussions.
Policy Briefs & Reports: Contribute to the preparation of internal memos, policy briefs, and presentations that inform our team’s strategy on energy market conditions and policy risks.

Qualifications:

Current junior or senior majoring in Policy, Political Science, Energy Studies, or a related field, planning to graduate in 2025.

Lead Field Instructor-Summer 2025

Description

Wildlands Studies invites candidates holding an MSc or PhD to serve as a Lead Instructor and submit a proposal for a new six-week field program in Summer 2025. The Lead Instructor will establish a new program under Wildlands Studies guidance, and then direct students on an academically rigorous, wilderness-based six-week field study to explore habitats and cultures of international locales. We are specifically seeking a new international location, outside the current offerings listed on our website, that will attract students and cover a wide variety of topics and terrain within our mission.

Renowned for its accredited researched-based undergraduate field programs, Wildlands Studies instructors enhance their own credentials with unique opportunities to teach in the field while engaging students in active research. Students consistently report that their Wildlands Studies experience added depth and meaning to their on-campus classes and “changed their lives”.

In addition to our open call, we specifically welcome proposals for new locales in the Pacific realm, Southeast Asia, Japan, Norway and South America. Students earn 5-15 quarter credits for three field classes covering Environmental Studies, Field Research Practices, and Environment and Culture. Lead Instructor is responsible for on-going seminars, lectures, instruction, guided field work and field methods, and assessment of all student work, as well as group dynamics and the overall well-being of participants. Requirements

Available to establish and lead a program for Summer 2025. Firsthand knowledge and experience of field study location required. Applicants must have Masters degree in hand; PhD Candidates and/or completed PhD preferred. A qualified Lead Instructor will have experience leading field study programs and teaching at the undergraduate level, specifically upper division environmental studies classes; a good sense of humor, flexibility, patience, and understanding; be a physically fit experienced outdoorsperson capable of leading students on day hikes and multi-day overnight backpacking trips; a capable and skilled group facilitator able to spend 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with up to 16 students aged 18-23 for the duration of the program managing associated interpersonal dynamics; an accomplished logistical planner capable of managing the overarching and day-to-day logistics, program finances and communications; certified in First Aid and CPR (preferably WFR) and able to competently and confidently manage medical emergencies and other medical situations should they arise. We require our program staff to be able to easily transport students in vehicles.  This means we are looking for individuals with a clean driving record, manual transmission experience, knowledge and competence driving in international locations and, if needed, the ability to drive a right-hand drive vehicle on the left side of the road. Reference checks, fingerprinting and background checks are required before any offer is finalized.

Job Summary

This Energy Efficiency Specialist is responsible for performing on-site energy analysis of residential customers premise and equipment operation, educating customers by presenting findings, and motivating customers to implement cost-effective energy conservation measures to help achieve Duke Energy FPSC mandated goals. Responsibilities

Collect technical data at customer’s homes or premise and analyze the operation of their equipment.
This will include troubleshooting equipment problems, performing specialized inspections of the duct system, attic insulation, windows, roofing, appliances, and HVAC system.
Provide consultation to customers regarding energy usage and operational improvements.

Tenure Track Faculty, Sustainability

The Golisano Institute for Sustainability at the Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY) invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Sustainability.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the potential to become a leading expert in sustainability research that is distinct from but complementary to research by our current core faculty. We particularly seek candidates whose research is collaborative and applies systems approaches (including but not limited to applied data science, industrial ecology, multi-criteria decision analysis, techno-economic analysis, and quantitative behavioral analysis) to addressing sustainability challenges in areas such as circular economy, sustainable manufacturing, sustainable materials management, food systems/organic waste, energy systems, and transportation systems.

The faculty member will build an externally funded research program to support multiple Ph.D. students and conduct research that is responsive to societal needs and that leads to peer-reviewed, scholarly publications as well as the communication or translation of research outcomes to realize broader impacts.

The faculty member will teach two graduate-level courses each year: one core course in the MS/PhD curriculum (Fundamentals of Sustainability Science, Industrial Ecology, Risk Analysis, Economics of Sustainable Systems, Multicriteria Sustainable Systems, or Technology, Policy and Sustainability) and one elective related to the candidate’s expertise. Sustainability Director

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a self-motivated individual for the role of Sustainability Director at University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA! This individual will plan, coordinate, and execute the account wide sustainability program. The role will include a variety of tasks including observation, education, audits, and reporting. This position will also serve as the liaison between dining services and the campus sustainability department. Job Purpose

Reporting to the National Smart Solar Director, the Smart Solar Program Coordinator will support American Farmland Trust’s (AFT) national and regional efforts to accelerate renewable energy development while strengthening farm viability and safeguarding land for farming and ranching. Our goal is to further develop AFT’s leadership, presence and impact as a trusted voice for the agricultural and energy community by advancing Smart Solar SM principles and program strategies.

This vital support role will build capacity for Smart Solar programs, services and strategic partnerships. The work will advance AFT’s commitment to farmers and ranchers across the nation to manage diverse, viable, profitable farming and ranching operations through systems of practices that promote soil health, build resilience to climate change, and ensure maximum benefits to agricultural communities, especially historically underserved and disadvantaged producers.

The Position

The Smart Solar Program Coordinator helps carry out the strategic vision of a growing, forward-looking conservation organization. In this new role, the coordinator will have the opportunity to work across teams within AFT’s National and Regional Programs, as well as with external partners including farmers, landowners, and professionals in the solar and agricultural industry and conservation sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

Programmatic and outreach support (40%): Support and assist in development and coordination of educational and technical assistance programming, resources, and activities for a diversity of stakeholders across multiple formats, that are responsive to stakeholder and partner needs and strategically relevant to target audiences for positive impacts through the growing national scope of the Smart Solar project portfolio. Support external-facing engagements and assist in development and delivery of compelling virtual and in person events, including facilitating or supporting webinars, multi-session courses, networking events, educational workshops, and field days. Work with Smart Solar team to prioritize public inquiries, process requests for materials, compile information packets for distribution and coordinate materials for meetings, workshops, conferences and fundraising visits. Assist with development of outreach, materials, and services including landowner guides, policy recommendations, and technical assistance to farmers interested in Smart Solar and adoption of agriculturally compatible solar.
Communications and relationship management support (25%): Build positive relationships within the Smart Solar team and across relevant AFT programs, cultivate and steward relationships with external partners and enthusiastically represent AFT Smart Solar in diverse forums and meetings. Work with Senior Manager to support Web content development (writing and editing), reviewing currently posted web content, identifying and addressing web content/presence/social media needs. Support timely review of processes and written publications through to completion that could include blog posts, factsheets, white papers, recorded presentations, field day videos, social media posts, funder reports, peer-reviewed and other technical publications, farmer reports, and media engagements such as press releases, interviews and follow up with members of the media. Coordinate webpage updates, blog posts, press releases, and grow our social media presence (LinkedIn, Instagram, other) in collaboration with the Communications and Farmland Information Center teams, third-party graphic designers, and content experts. Support project tracking of deliverables with AFT’s Project Management Team (PMT).
Data entry and data management (15%): As needed, develop and maintain project tracking spreadsheet and support other data and file management across various file formats. For example, the coordinator will help develop grant proposal narratives, letters of support, and project deliverables. Support national cross-AFT project team by coordinating with Policy, Climate (soil health), and Farm Viability teams by identifying key timelines and process-improvements to drive efficient and impactful outcomes for a dynamic and growing program. Support project leads in data analysis (e.g., social survey results, agricultural management activities, crop yield, economic data). Assist in maintaining Smart Solar photo and video inventory for use in publications.
Provide administrative support (10%): This includes assistance with project-related meeting management and travel logistics, support in agenda setting, Smart Solar information requests, scheduling meetings/events, note-taking, and action item tracking, follow ups with staff across the organization and partners, and organizing, sharing, and maintaining of team files, literature, and technical resources.
Assist with contract financial management (10%): This support includes supporting project management teams to track and ensure visibility on contracted deliverables, including ongoing engagement with AFT’s Finance and Administration department tracking contracts through AFT’s internal approval process, and invoice submissions.

Supporting the national director, the Coordinator will engage with regional solar specialists, regional directors and national initiatives as needed to take initiative and build AFT’s impact in Smart Solar, ensuring a positive impact for farmers, soil health, resilient communities and solar industry partners across the nation. Demonstrated experience working with a diversity of agricultural, energy, land use and/or conservation professionals strongly preferred, e.g. state and federal agencies, farmers and landowners, solar developers and industry trade associations, conservation districts, researchers, commodity, and conservation organizations.

Education & Experience

A BA or BS degree and a minimum of 2 years of related internship and/or work experience in or supporting agriculture, agronomy, conservation, environmental management, natural resource planning, or related fields; OR
An advanced degree in related fields may substitute for one year of work experience; OR
At least 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Degree in or knowledge of and passion for agriculture is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a teleworking or professional office environment. Occasional work in the evenings or on weekends may be required to meet deadlines.
Willingness to undertake occasional overnight work travel required. This may include annual Smart Solar team retreat, project team meetings, conferences, forums and partner meetings (2-5 times per year).

Portfolio Sustainability Coordinator

Summary

The Portfolio Asset Management team is responsible for monitoring BRIDGE’s long-term owner interests and focuses on maintaining a healthy portfolio of housing communities by executing on financial, physical and policy opportunities. The Portfolio Sustainability Coordinator is an essential player in facilitating maximum utilization of new information technology, identifying and responding to opportunities for improved energy and water efficiency to meet our utility consumption reduction goals, our solar installations and responding to financing opportunities that support our Portfolio stewardship objectives. This role serves as the central point of contact on the subject of sustainability for BRIDGE.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day organization and technical assistance for sustainability projects and programs;
Solicit bids and negotiate contracts for gas purchase contracts for the portfolio
Ensure properties are enrolled in CARE programs with local utility companies
Solicit bids from consultants and contractors, evaluate proposals, coordinate selection of design team, and negotiate contract terms and price
Manage benchmarking analytics and initiatives specific to utility consumption and cost to support BRIDGE’s pursuit of continued reduction in consumption of energy/water/gas
Coordinate regular reporting on energy and greening initiatives
Review local and state programs for new funding related to BRIDGE’s sustainability projects and prepare applications for that funding
Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate clean energy, electrification, decarbonization, adaptation, and resiliency projects across the BRIDGE portfolio;
Collect, analyze, interpret, and report data on key sustainability indicators, including but not limited to water, energy, fuel, greenhouse gas emissions, and renewable energy generation;
Recommend strategies, programs, and technologies to comply with existing and new regulations;
Coordinate the development of education, outreach, and engagement programs on sustainable practices, including resource conservation, energy efficiency for property staff;
Integrate principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion into all aspects of work.
Collaborate with key internal teams, such as property management, development, compliance, and IT to drive sustainable initiatives

Evaluate and Manage electric vehicle infrastructure across the portfolio

Communicate with supervisor on a regular basis to convey project status and address any issues

Lead solar implementation for the entire portfolio, including investor approvals and negotiating PPAs and SSAs

Qualifications

Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience and knowledge
Demonstrated high degree of accuracy and initiative in work assignments
Ability to independently manage simultaneous and competing activities and demands on your time

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships, manage and motivate internal and external teams

Ability to remain organized and meet deadlines
Experience performing spreadsheet and other financial analysis
Proficiency with intermediate level Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.)

Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing

Preferred

Knowledgeable about current and upcoming energy related legislation and bills that impact multifamily residential communities

Experience preparing written summaries and briefings of assigned tasks for internal and external dissemination

Demonstrated comfort level reviewing and interpreting loan documents and other formal documentation

Salary Range:
$75,000.00 To 95,000.00 Annually
