Senior Advisor for Renewable Energy, Global Government Affairs

The Director will leverage a strong working knowledge of the federal legislative, regulatory, and political climate; have demonstrated research, policy analysis, and organization skills; and the ability to develop strategy and execute tactics to achieve results for Corning priorities. This position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Vice President, Global Government Affairs.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Policy Analysis and Development
Develop and maintain an understanding of the policy and regulatory landscape
Track and analyze legislative and regulatory policy developments, providing intelligence and insights. Advocacy Strategy Formation and Execution
Develop, communicate, and implement strategy for advancement of Corning’s legislative and regulatory initiatives; and
Manage government affairs consultants and contractors.
Relationship Management
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with federal elected officials and their staffs and government officials and staffs in regulatory and other agencies;
Represent Corning in trade associations, and with other key stakeholders; and
Develop coalitions to support Corning’s policy agenda as appropriate. Additional responsibilities include:
Assist Corning executive leadership team in preparing board communications and briefing materials regarding government affairs developments, including regulatory and legislative matters of interest;
Represent Corning at external events, meetings, and conferences; and
Ensure strict compliance with applicable lobbying and political activity laws and regulations, as well as internal compliance policies.

Wetlands Enforcement Officer

The Town of Colchester, Connecticut seeks applications from qualified individuals for the position of Wetlands Enforcement Officer to administer the Town’s Inland Wetlands & Watercourses (IW&W) and Open Space programs. The position provides staff support to the Conservation Commission (Colchester’s IW&W Agency) and the Open Space Advisory Committee. Position Summary:
The Counsel provides legal advice nationally across TPL’s offices and supports the following TPL activities: lobbying; policy advocacy; research; and parks, trails and schoolyard development and construction.

Essential Functions:

Advises all levels of organization on advocacy and lobbying efforts, and ensures compliance with local, state and federal lobbying laws;
Supports and advises project/program staff on all phases of park, trails and schoolyard engagement, development, and construction (i.e., MOUs; RFPs and other procurement packages; design and construction contracts; agreements with public agencies and partner organizations; grant proposals and agreements);
Assists research and policy advocacy staff with respect to all legal issues, from data sharing licenses to MOUs and contracts;
Provides advice and counsel re: public and federal grant issues and legal services for public and private grant-funded projects;
Drafts and reviews related legal documents, and ensures that these documents are in accordance with laws, public policy, and internal policies and protocols;
Participates, when necessary, with staff in stakeholder and consultant negotiations and public agency discussions;
Assists in updating legal documents used regularly by Trust for Public Land ensuring that the documents are authorized and are in accordance with relevant laws and policies.

Other Responsibilities:

As needed, and as time allows, Counsel will assist with legal advice and services related marketing, fundraising, and other nonprofit legal issues.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctor, admission to state bar.
Minimum three years of experience is required. Familiarity with advocacy and lobbying, federal grants, and working with tax-exempt nonprofit organizations and public agencies a plus.

Compensation

About The Position

We are a fast-growing non-profit organization and we are looking for a full-time National Policy Associate, who will work closely with the Executive Director / Founder and report to the Senior Conservation Manager. Director, Energy Policy & Environmental Justice

The Director, Energy Policy & Environmental Justice provides leadership and is responsible energy equity policy and programs designed to serve Environmental Justice (EJ) Communities that intersect with the Power Authority’s strategic operations and statewide assets.

Under the direction of the VP, Environmental Justice, the Director cultivates new and existing relationships with EJ stakeholders, advocates for community-based organizations across NYS and identifies communities and municipal entities eligible for community energy demonstration projects.

The Director, serves as an advisor to senior management on issues related to Environmental Justice programming, public policy and industry trends related to EJ. Supports and analyzes NYPA programing to ensure adherence to state and federal legislation that prioritizes communities most impacted by historical and present energy burdens.

Program Management and Governance

Cultivate productive relationships with Environmental Justice community leaders, advocates and other associated stakeholders including energy industry think tanks, academia, and other policy leaders.

Serves as a primary EJ liaison on Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), Executive Order 22 and other interagency and industry groups focused on energy equity and historically disadvantaged communities.
Serve as point of contact for EJ stakeholders and advocacy groups. Monitor activities and develop material to update leadership with strategic advice on governmental, political or communications issues to ensure the concerns of the community are understood.
Work to cultivate new and existing stakeholder relationships within key EJ areas. Identify possible communities and municipal entities for ongoing EJ energy efficiency demonstration projects recognizing opportunities to leverage NYPA resources to benefit communities.

Develop, coach, mentor and manage a team of environmental justice professionals.

Role Description
As the Senior Government Affairs Manager for West Virginia you will be Form’s primary representative to local, regional, and state policymakers as we build our first manufacturing plant in Weirton, West Virginia. Our new plant will bring direct and indirect economic benefit to the State as we create 750 jobs locally in the coming years. You will lead the development and execution of government affairs and policy strategies to support the success of our manufacturing activities in West Virginia. You will collaborate closely with others on the Policy and Regulatory team to build trusting, collaborative relationships with regional leaders. You will also work closely with Form’s Weirton, West Virginia community liaison and PeopleOps and Talent Acquisition teams to secure regional partnerships and resources that will help Form build a diverse local workforce that has access to the resources they need to thrive, as well as the Communications team. This role is an opportunity to showcase your leadership and build upon your relationships with West Virginia policymakers to support Form Energy’s presence as a new business in West Virginia and to manage diverse policy issues, including accelerating grid reliability and resiliency with greater renewables on the grid and expanding markets for multi-day energy storage.

Senior Counsel

Do you want to make a difference protecting and restoring the abundance of the oceans? Oceana seeks a Senior Counsel to provide legal support for the advocacy campaigns run out of the Washington, D.C., office. The Senior Counsel will also advise the campaigns on legal compliance and risk mitigation and assist in the administration of the Law Department. Staff Attorney

Communities for a Better Environment (CBE) is a statewide environmental health and justice organization that combines grassroots organizing, legal advocacy, communications, and science-based research to achieve its goals. CBE’s mission is to build power in low-income communities of color to achieve environmental justice by empowering community, reducing pollution and building healthy and sustainable communities.

CBE seeks a full-time Staff Attorney to join our East Oakland team and advocate for environmental justice and community resilience. The East Oakland Staff Attorney will support our East Oakland team by advocating for sustainable land use, health-protective air pollution regulation, clean energy access, and other issues affecting the community. The East Oakland team focuses on “building the good,â€ and the team’s work includes visioning for the future of sites in East Oakland like the Oakland Coliseum and the former AB&I foundry, and realizing the community’s vision for environmental change, such as creating access to microgrids and community solar, achieving local air improvements through the air district’s AB 617 process, and advocating for just land use policies like the Oakland General Plan. The East Oakland Staff Attorney’s role requires creativity to identify opportunities for the law to help actualize the change the community envisions.

Specific areas of focus include litigation and advocacy regarding land use, toxics and remediation, and renewable energy.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Litigating environmental, civil rights, and community access lawsuits in state and federal courts on behalf of CBE;
Representing CBE before administrative agencies responsible for enforcing federal, state, and local environmental and energy laws;
Representing CBE in local, regional, and statewide coalitions for environmental and energy justice;
Participating in policy development and advocacy at local, regional, and state government;

Senior Program Manager, Energy Codes and Standards

NAHB is seeking a building industry professional to join its advocacy efforts to improve the performance and advance the affordability of residential construction in the United States. The primary focus of this position is on energy solutions, green construction practices, and sustainability in single-family and multifamily buildings. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the nexus of policy, advocacy, and building technology across various industry forums and engage with a broad spectrum of industry stakeholders.

This individual will be part of a team developing and implementing NAHB’s strategy for energy codes and standards across ICC, ASHRAE, and other forums. Responsibilities also include codes and standards focusing on zero net energy and reductions in emissions. The position will also work on longer-term initiatives to develop tools and information that support NAHB code advocacy efforts in these areas.

This position is also responsible for assisting NAHB members, committees, and staff with technical issues related to residential construction methods and practices. Other responsibilities include preparing and presenting articles, status updates, webinars and other related materials.

Qualifications and Requirements

Must be able to review and understand legislative and regulatory information related to building codes, material/design standards, and product specifications and offer solutions.
At least five years of experience in building design and construction.
Experience with building codes and standards development, code enforcement, above-code programs, and construction costs is preferred.
Experience with state or federal incentive programs is a plus.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, material science, architecture, or equivalent in education and experience, is required.
