Bat Technician

Position Summary: Bat technicians are needed to conduct bat surveys for multiple projects with the Colorado Natural Heritage Program. Surveys will be conducted at locations throughout Colorado on U.S. Forest Service lands, military bases, and private lands. Technicians will trap, and process bats, conduct telemetry, and deploy acoustic detectors. Applicants with experience manually vetting bat acoustic data will be considered for extended employment both in the Spring and Autumn of 2026.

Essential Job Duties

1. Safely and effectively conduct bat surveys at remote field sites throughout Colorado using mist nets and harp traps.

2. Work well independently and as a team for long hours and unusual schedules, travel during the field season, share living quarters in rustic field housing, bunkhouses, and car camping

3. Capture, identify, take morphometric measurements and collect samples from bats.

4. Track bat movements using radio telemetry equipment.

5. Record and maintain field data, photos and biological samples

6. Deploy bat acoustic detectors in accordance with established protocols (NABat and others) at sites throughout Colorado

7. Organize and analyze bat acoustic data to identify bat sound files to species using specialized software

Environmental Specialist III

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Water Quality (BWQ), Division of Environmental Assessment, is seeking an Environmental Specialist III to join us in the Maine Healthy Beaches Program, based in Portland, ME.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This position supports the implementation of the Maine Healthy Beaches (MHB) program’s monitoring, assessment, and public notification activities for approximately 65 coastal, saltwater beaches (Kittery to Mount Desert Island). Duties of the position include conducting annual field and database trainings for program participants; providing ongoing support and technical assistance on sampling procedures; updating protocols and supplemental materials; supporting data management and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) objectives; compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to support annual reporting requirements; assisting with developing and distributing education/outreach materials and reports; and inventorying, distributing, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Additional tasks may include delivering presentations to diverse audiences; engaging in applied research partnerships; and working with program partners to design and implement monitoring projects to aid in source tracking efforts. Work is performed under limited supervision within the Division’s strong team and collaborative work environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering which includes two (2) years of environmental experience. Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited educational institution.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

Knowledge of water quality issues (bacteria focus) and biological, ecological, and environmental science principles.
Experience with water quality sampling and analysis methods and equipment as well as knowledge of standard laboratory practices and procedures.

Environmental Scientist II/III

The Utah Division of Water Resources is looking for a skilled individual with a background in water resources, hydrology and environmental sciences to join our Hydrology & Modeling Section in Salt Lake City. In this position you will assist in planning for Utah’s future water needs through modeling efforts across Utah including Great Salt Lake.
You will develop and maintain surface water models, assist with Great Salt Lake and wetland modeling as well as other surface and river basin modeling efforts; and create programs to interact with databases and analyze data. Stormwater Inspector

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs erosion and sediment control/stormwater management inspections of active construction sites to determine compliance with state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. Prepares coordinating inspection reports, and assists with enforcement actions. Conducts post-construction stormwater management facility inspections and assists with enforcement. Conducts illicit discharge inspections, outfall inspections for dry weather screening, and business inspections as part of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program/Permit. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Inspects permitted sites to determine compliance with state and local erosion and sediment control/stormwater laws.
Completes reports using Cityworks and submits them by mail or email to responsible parties to communicate inspection results.
Consults with the Stormwater Program Manager on the need for enforcement actions.
Communicates with contractors, developers, and/or property owners to provide technical information on state and local laws.
Fields complaints or concerns from contractors/developers/citizens about erosion and sediment control and stormwater management program requirements.
Works with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to bring problematic sites into compliance with stormwater/erosion and sediment control regulations.
Provides information regarding compliance and enforcement activities at permitted sites to department management and County administration.
Investigates and consults with the Stormwater Program Manager on discharge complaints and conducts source tracking to locate problems per the MS4 permit requirements. Conducts outfall inspections for dry weather screening program per MS4 permit requirements.
Conducts business inspections to remain in compliance with County’s MS4 Program Plan and MS4 permit requirements.
Conducts inspections of post-construction stormwater best management practices to ensure BMPs in the County remain in compliance.
Conducts recordkeeping.

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

Education

Required: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water resources, environmental sciences, or a related field.

Preferred: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in hydrology and hydraulics.

Experience

Required: One year of service in conducting stormwater management and erosion and sediment control inspections on active construction sites and in reading and interpreting engineering plans/drawings.

Preferred: More than one year of service as a Stormwater Inspector with positive performance evaluations.

Certifications/ Licenses

Required: Valid Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record, and maintain the following certifications:

DEQ-certified Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector.
DEQ-certified Stormwater Management Inspector.

Preferred: DEQ-certification as an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Reviewer.

Water Resources Analyst

The mission of the Alliance for the Great Lakes is to protect, conserve, and restore the Great Lakes, ensuring healthy water in the lakes and in our communities for all generations of people and wildlife.

The Water Resources Analyst (Analyst) is an integral part of the Alliance’s Water Resources team, supplying research and analysis to advance policy campaigns related to source water protection. With a particular focus on plastic pollution, PFAS, and other high-priority contaminants, the Analyst is committed to bringing scientific rigor to the Alliance’s work on behalf of people and ecosystems in the Great Lakes basin.

The Analyst works collaboratively with the Water Resources team to track, analyze and synthesize scientific research, policy developments, and regulatory trends in key geographies across the Great Lakes region. The Analyst brings a strong foundation in water quality science, paired with the ability to critically evaluate, interpret, and translate complex research into clear, actionable insights that advance issue-based campaigns. Leveraging rigorous research methodologies, innovative data visualization and applied policy analysis tools, the Analyst elevates technical information to support strategic decision-making and summarizes findings for diverse audiences, including policymakers, partners, and the public.

This position reports to the Director of Water Resources and works closely with Alliance staff across policy, government affairs, community partnerships, and communications to ensure research products are timely, credible, and strategically aligned, and that recommendations are effectively integrated into advocacy, outreach, and campaign efforts.

Engineer I

As an EIT at Ducks Unlimited, you will work on a variety of wetland and habitat restoration projects, collaborating with a team of biologists, engineers and engineering technicians to bring projects to life. You will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed designs and design drawings for wetland restoration projects. Primary responsibilities will be in Michigan and Ohio.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have at minimum, a B.S in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program, and a preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in civil engineering design. It is preferred that the candidate is a registered EIT. Desirable qualifications include experience with Civil3D, hydrology, hydraulics, civil design including structures and pump stations, erosion control, construction inspection and project management. As an Environmental & Energy Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance of the environmental and energy program through monitoring, measuring, analyzing, reporting and management of permits. You will partner with internal and external sustainability experts to identify improvement opportunities. To attain this sustainability strategy, you will champion measures to reduce waste and minimize environmental impact while increasing efficiency. Director of Environmental Management

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the safe, economical and efficient operations and management of the Departments of Water Quality and Solid Waste in compliance with all State and Federal environmental regulations. Responsible for the County’s implementation and management of the MD State MS4 NPDES permit. Responsible for fiscal management and overall budgeting, problem solving and public relations for the Division. Responsible for all administrative and operational aspects of both agencies’ facilities together with facilities owned by private owners/municipalities and operated by the County. Responsible for local Nutrient Management and Tributary Strategies necessary for long-term environmental compliance in the County.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Considerable knowledge of the theory and practices of environmental management and public works administration.
A working knowledge of wastewater treatment and waterworks facilities.
Considerable knowledge of environmental regulations/strategies including nutrient trading/management, long-term allocation of nutrient loading, and tributary strategy initiatives.
