The Town of Holly Springs is seeking an Environmental Technician, that will perform under limited supervision, and executes duties related to various environmental programs including pretreatment, pollution prevention, Fats, Oils and Grease program and drinking water. The work schedule is business hours with occasional nights and weekends. Annual starting salary is $64,624.16.

Essential Functions

This position will perform physical collection of samples in accordance with the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, NPDES, Industrial Discharge Control, and all other applicable local, state, or federal environmental regulation.
Duties will include field sampling of wastewater and drinking water, proper sampling, preservation, and analysis of compliance samples to ensure legally defensible data is produced. The position will be responsible for maintaining a schedule for drinking water samples that meets the Towns monthly required monitoring.
The Technician will assist the Environmental Compliance Manager with industrial site inspections and grease trap inspections at food service establishments.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires thorough knowledge of drinking water and wastewater sampling procedures and policies, as well as laboratory analysis, and grease trap inspections.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BS in chemistry, environmental science or related field, and laboratory and/or pretreatment experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to obtain Grade I Wastewater Certificate and C Distribution from the State of North Carolina and Pretreatment Specialist Grade I Certificate within 24 months of hire.

Planner I

Under the direction of the Planning and Building Director, the Planner I is responsible for various functions related to comprehensive planning, land development, and zoning, including reviewing complex site development plans and preparation of planning documents for the Town. This position ensures plans adhere to all applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Planning and Zoning

Interpret, apply, and enforce Town Land Use Code (LUC), Design Guidelines, and Master Plan
Implement planning, building, and housing-related programs that reduce energy, waste, or reduce carbon impacts
Work across departments on zero waste and carbon-neutral goals to achieve Town sustainability efforts
Meet with applicants to provide information and guidance on development applications, local codes, adopted plans, regulations, and planning programs and services

Boards and Commissions

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, environmental science, urban or regional planning, or related field required; Master’s degree in planning, architecture, environmental science, or related field preferred; sustainability emphasis preferred; one (1) to three (3) years of experience in planning or architecture required.

Water Quality Technician

The Water Quality Technician is responsible for water quality sampling from the drinking water distribution system and water filtration plants, wastewater plants, rivers, and reservoirs. In addition, the responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries about water quality and activities related to maintaining contamination response preparedness.

DUTIES:

Collects samples in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Industrial Discharge Control, and all other applicable local, state, or federal regulations

Performs daily activities related to customer complaints handling and coordination of customer sampling logistics. Communicates directly with customers to coordinate investigations and sampling

Conducts non-compliance, operational sampling at water filtration plants and distribution system sites

Maintains online water quality monitoring instruments, performs routine site inspections, sensor calibration, and minor repairs

May serve as a standing member of Contamination Rapid Response Team (CRRT)

Performs activities related with uninterrupted CRRT preparedness. Responsibilities include maintaining CRRT inventory, uninterrupted equipment functions, routine equipment checks and calibrations

Participate in CRRT trainings and exercises

Prepares reagents and standards for both routine and non-routine analyses and maintains accurate, relevant, and timely records

Prepares sample bottles for field work, including cleaning, adding chemical preservatives, labeling, and organizing sample transport in accordance with method requirements

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Maintains compliance with all QA/QC and safety requirements at pre-scheduled intervals

Creates legible and accurate records of all analytical work

Cross trains in other water quality disciplines

Supports Division Manager or Section Manager in developing Standard Operating Procedures

Performs other related duties as required

Staff Scientist – Water Resources

Stone is seeking a talented, detail-oriented individual with a background in the physical sciences for a full-time, staff-level position in our Water Resources Management team. Environmental Engineer or Scientist

Environmental Planner

The Town of York, a coastal community comprised of the villages of Cape Neddick, York Harbor, York Village and York Beach with a population over 13,000 year-round residents, is accepting applications for the position of Environmental Planner.

The purpose of this position is to assist the Town Planning Department with performing municipal environmental planning functions and be the lead sustainability coordinator for the Town. This position reports to the Town Planning Director. The position is a full-time, exempt, non-bargaining, position and will require attendance at regularly scheduled evening meetings as well as periodic weekend work. Starting salary range is $72,065.00-$78,871.43 dependent upon experience and qualifications. The Town of York follows a salary step schedule which provides an estimated 5% increase plus COLA every year for the first 3 years of employment and then every third year subsequent to that. Project Engineer – Federal Energy Management Program

The Integrated Building Performance Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join ORNL’s dedicated team in support of clean energy investment at federal agency sites through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP). The focus areas will include Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) and Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESCs). This position will join ORNL’s team to facilitate performance contracting project development and performance tracking for federal agency customers with multi-million-dollar ESPC projects and other alternatively financed projects. The ORNL team, funded by FEMP, provides federal agencies with expert assistance to help them enhance the nation’s energy security and environmental stewardship through the implementation of sound, cost-effective energy management, and investment practices. In this position, you will be a member of a team that makes a real impact by enhancing these programs and the benefits they provide.

The successful candidate will have close attention to detail, strength in data analysis techniques, and a willingness to learn about: the ESPC process from project inception to closeout; technical and financial aspects of individual Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) as well as the packages of ECMs that form a successful project; and how the FEMP program assists agencies in achieving federal goals for energy efficiency and decarbonization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Review ESPC Measurement & Verification (M&V) reports, extract data on project cost and savings (cost, energy, water, other) and accurately enter the data into the project data repository for further analysis
Assist in the analysis of project and portfolio data to identify potential issues for follow-up as well as successful elements that could be duplicated across the portfolio
Engage agency project site representatives to assess their project status, identifying delayed or missing information, and summarize project and program performance.
Contribute to the annual portfolio-wide analysis of energy and financial performance of ESPCs

Stormwater Compliance Specialist

Duties

Assist the Stormwater Compliance Specialist with activities relating to coordination and implementation of inspections related to the implementation of Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP)/Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. Evaluations include performing wet and dry weather screenings, infrastructure inspections, source tracking, and watershed assessments. Perform field and laboratory analyses with instruments, wet chemistry methods, and other procedures. Perform instrument and lab equipment maintenance and calibrations. Assist with inspections, enforcement, monitoring, source tracking, and cleanup. Educate businesses and residential users about water quality and stormwater related issues. Assist in the development of technical reporting in compliance with the county’s stormwater management permit. Perform other work as required. Minimum Qualifications

Sr. Environmental Analyst

Description

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Field Operations, the Field supervisor, should be fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter related to Asbestos, Lead and other environmental remediation projects or functional areas of assignments. This includes planning and conducting work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification/variance of regulations, standard methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises and defines new solutions to problems encountered. Interprets technical guidance for unusual or complex problems, reviews stage III and IV contract documents and submittals for adherence to state regulations. Supervises assigned inspectors and technical consultantsÔÇÖ staff on a project basis. Will act as an Environmental Lead on numerous Stage IV assignments.

Please Note: This position will be initially located at the LaGuardia Airport, Environmental Field Operations Office, but can be relocated to any other PA Facility within the Port District depending on CMD workload demands.
