Instructional Aid Specialist

Assist with the development, management, implementation and instruction of courses within environmental science and water science curriculum offered by the School of Environment and Natural Resources. Individual will oversee the delivering of the on-line version of ENR 3300 (3 credit hours in spring & summer), and assist with the delivery of field and lab sections of relevant water sciences courses (e.g. ENR 4345, 4285, 5350.01, 5350.02). Assist with and contribute to lecture content of relevant water science courses (e.g. ENR 3280, 4285, 5350.01, 53501.02 and related courses.). Coordinate with collaborators to manage use and maintain field and laboratory teaching equipment; organize resources and equipment for delivery of laboratory and field courses. Train TA’s assigned to water science and environmental science in key field and lab monitoring techniques prior to delivery of the course.

Works directly with faculty, staff, and students to ensure that students receive rigorous, accessible, high-quality educational experiences; works with the OSU Office of Disability Services to coordinate support services; works with OSU’s Web Accessibility Center to ensure online class structure and material meets the needs of all students; is familiar with and ensures that online classes meet Quality Matters (QM) standards and best practices for online learning; manages and posts captioned recordings of lectures and live-streams of lectures; keeps these videos current throughout the semester; manages externally linked material and ensures that all links are active and current; assists with grading of class materials; oversees on-line testing to ensure that exams and quizzes are fair and that academic integrity is maintained; manages and trains student workers as needed; assists in collecting student and instructional data as requested, collected data may be used in formal research or may be used informally for course improvement; authors or co-authors publications that make significant contributions to scholarly or public understanding.

Serves on committees of the School of Environment and Natural Resources and the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Science, as requested; works directly with faculty, staff and students to provide a variety of learning methods that provide engaging content and promotes student-student and student-faculty interactions; promotes communication, collaboration and creativity by managing on-line communications between students and faculty (e.g., Email, Twitter, Chat, Adobe Connect); organizes online virtual events, as requested, (e.g., study groups) to promote student participation and engage students in learning.

Environmental Program Manager

The City of Virginia Beach is recruiting for a motivated self-starter to join Public Works Engineering to help to develop and implement the city’s environmental management program. The selected candidate will be part of a team of talented staff working in the Stormwater and Environmental Management Regulatory Division. The City is implementing a policy to improve environmental performance through environmental regulatory compliance assurance, policy, training, and programs for city operations. Many city operations and activities are subject to environmental regulations under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. This program will be based on the ISO 14001 Standard for Environmental Management Systems as a framework to identify, manage, monitor, and control environmental issues in a holistic manner. The environmental aspects included in this program are air and stormwater pollution, water and sewage issues, waste management, and soil contamination.
This position will perform the following primary duties:

Environmental Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive citywide program for improved environmental performance. Provide centralized environmental expertise to staff by maintaining knowledge of environmental regulations and upcoming proposed changes. Evaluate city operations for regulatory compliance. Perform field investigations, review regulatory documents, perform compliance audits, identify action items, and prepare summary reports. Promote sustainable practices to ensure and environmentally conscious and productive culture through recycling, reducing waste, optimizing resources and improving processes.
Contract and Project Management: Administer environmental program related service contracts. Manage complex environmental projects including obtaining environmental permits, developing remediation plans, and/or groundwater monitoring assessments. Conduct field investigations and prepare reports.
Document Preparation and Management: Prepare technical reports, audit reports, management briefings, and develop operational procedures. Collect and disseminate information and maintain documentation and records. Manage database of documents related to environmental programs and develop and implement document management through SharePoint.
Training: Prepare and perform training on procedures related environmental performance and environmental awareness for city staff.
Written and Verbal Communications: Interpret and analyze technical information and provide written and verbal information and recommendations to internal and external groups; develop written reports, meeting summaries, and briefings related to environmental issues. Senior Environmental Scientist, Environment and Sustainability

The Regional Senior Environmental Scientist oversees National Grid’s Environmental Compliance program with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. Based on your level of expertise, this role can also start as an Environmental Engineer.
Key Accountabilities

Periodic inspections of operating yards, generating plants, gas plants, fleet garages and other company properties to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local environmental regulations.
Environmental Compliance assessments and inspections include waste storage areas, bulk chemical and petroleum tanks, emergency generators, etc.
Ensure proper documentation including emergency plans and manifests are up-to-date and available. Participate in periodic emergency response training and drills. Direct and manage response as necessary.

Manage PCB gas pipe abandonment and pipe collection and decontamination process.
Respond to environmental incidents including chemical releases or other incidents with the potential to impact the environment, result in a monetary penalty or cause reputational harm to the company.
Lead or participate in the environmental incident analysis.
Support the Corporate ISO 14001 Certification by preparing operations and participating in internal and external program audits.
Track and participate in emerging laws and regulation discussions.
Assist with the implementation of regulatory changes impacting operations.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or engineering-related area and at least 3 years of related work experience. An advanced degree/credits is preferred. Supervisory experience is also preferred.
Must have experience with compliance-related responsibilities.
Must have strong communication skills required to interface internally and externally with regulators.
Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.
Proficient in relevant software e.g. SAP, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Environmental Project Manager

Stoney Ridge Environmental LLC (SRE), a Central NH Environmental Firm, is seeking a Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years experience in federal, state, and local environmental/wetland permitting and natural resource documentation.

SUMMARY: Coordinating water conservation programs, projects, and plans. Develops and implements new programs and projects required by system growth, efficiency improvements, and regulatory requirements.

Junior Environmental Scientist

Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Scientist or Engineer (Jr. Level) to work in our Newark, DE or Pittsburgh, PA office to provide support on a variety of environmental projects, including emergency response with significant travel and on-call support.

This position will involve providing technical support in the areas of emergency response, removal assessment, and removal action. Members of the emergency response team are responsible for maintaining on-call readiness to handle emergency responses and provide remedial and restoration guidance/solutions to clients in the Mid-Atlantic United States. Members of the team are also responsible for the planning and oversight of operations and site health and safety. Work will include multi-media sampling, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, preparing reports, file reviews, collection of air monitoring data, training and exercise support, contractor oversight, and related services. Responsibilities may also include training presentations; preparation of statement of qualifications and proposals, and other consulting activities. Work for other government and private sector clients in these areas is also possible.

Qualifications:

0-5 years experience in environmental consulting, HazMat response, or related field required. Strong emergency response and remediation management skills and the ability to respond quickly within a mandatory response time required. Knowledge of federal and state regulations also required. Experience with remedial design, feasibility studies, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling, air quality, ecological restoration, water resources desirable. Previous experience working on EPA projects a plus.

Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. Must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel, and be on-call as needed. Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications are required.
