Environmental Specialist

The New Jersey Pinelands Commission is an independent state agency whose mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural and cultural resources of the Pinelands. The Commission implements a comprehensive plan that guides land use, development, and natural resource protection programs in the 938,000-acre Pinelands Area of southern New Jersey.

The Commission’s Regulatory Programs office is seeking one full-time Environmental Specialist. The primary responsibility of the position is the review of land development applications for consistency with the environmental and land use regulations of the 53 municipalities in the Pinelands Area.

Examples of environmental regulations include wetlands protection, groundwater quality, threatened and endangered species protection, soils, septic systems and stormwater management. Examples of land use regulations include municipal zoning and cluster development requirements.

Extensive writing is required in response to land development applications and inquiries regarding Commission regulations and processes. The position also requires extensive telephone contact and meetings with applicants. Local travel to conduct site inspections/field work is required.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with concentration in biology, environmental science,

geology, environmental planning or related field is required.

Driver’s License required.

Knowledge and/or experience with wetland delineation, soils, vegetation identification,

threatened and endangered species desired, but not required.

Experience reviewing and/or designing land development projects to ensure consistency

with applicable environmental and land use regulations desired but not required.

Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering plans, environmental laboratory data

reports, and/or land use regulations is desired, but not required.

Experience with onsite septic wastewater treatment systems, hydrogeology, soil science,

and/or stormwater management is desired, but not required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook,

and the ability to use Teams to facilitate remote meetings

Proficiency with ArcGIS and other ESRI products or similar GIS software desired but not

Assistant Professor, Water Resources

Floodplain Administrator

Brunswick County Code Administration is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Floodplain Administrator to join our dedicated team and support our community’s floodplain management efforts. Staff Hydrogeologist

Our current Reno openings include a mix of fieldwork and office work, with a focus on projects that involve water well drilling, lithologic logging, well construction, sampling, and testing. Senior Engineer

The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) is looking for a visionary Senior Engineer to help shape the future of the Bay Area’s shorelines. This role leads our engineering program and works on exciting projects that will help define how our region adapts to a changing climate and have a lasting impact on the resilience of the San Francisco Bay. Working under the general direction of the Director of Regulatory, you will provide engineering and design guidance for the region’s most transformative work, addressing coastal processes, sea level rise, groundwater rise, shoreline and flood protection projects, safety of Bay and coastal structures, seismic safety, and geotechnical and soil conditions. As a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate with a passionate, multidisciplinary team of BCDC staff and managers, permit analysts, landscape architects, scientists and planners, while working closely with community partners, as well as agency and department leaders across the Bay.

Specific duties include:

Advises BCDC and its stakeholders on general and coastal engineering aspects of projects (e.g., structures such as shoreline protection, public access improvements, marine oil terminals, seaports, and habitat restoration) to determine whether proposed and permitted projects are consistent with the Commission’s laws and policies and industry best practices.
Serves as the Secretary to the Commission’s Engineering Criteria Review Board (ECRB), which involves preparing for and facilitating ECRB meetings, preparing written meeting materials, and ensuring that ECRB questions and advice are, respectively, answered and delivered to the appropriate parties.
Represents BCDC at meetings and public hearings and makes public presentations.
Serves as the primary point of contact on general and coastal engineering issues, including but not limited to seismic safety, sea level rise, groundwater rise, safety of in Bay and coastal structures, marine terminal safety, and seismic instrumentation, to other regulatory bodies.
Coordinates engineering analyses and assessments with other agencies, project proponents and permit applicants, and stakeholders, as well as prepares written reports, and manages and conducts special engineering studies for BCDC.

Provides training to BCDC staff about specific engineering concepts and advises on engineering related issues.

About the role

The Department is recruiting an Environmental Advisor. Primary responsibilities include compliance with the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA and EPCRA monitoring, recordkeeping and reporting requirements; environmental management, data quality review, emission inventory calculations, waste stream management tracking and reporting, site risk assessments, and incident investigations, as needed.

This position requires up to 25% travel; which includes conducting site visits for each operating site assigned to the role at a minimum of once annually. This is typically one week per month with semi-annual workshops for the HSE team.

Project Team Manager – Environmental Lab

ICF is seeking an experienced Project Team Manager to support an EPA contract, the Environmental Services Assistance Team (ESAT), across the country. The team performs soil, water, air, waste, and tissue sample analysis for chemical contaminants, primarily supporting Superfund site assessment, remediation, and emergency response, but also for compliance under other EPA regulations such as the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act.

Environmental analytical tasks include organic (SVOCs, VOCs, pesticides, Aroclors, PCB congeners, PFAS, UDA with TOF /GC/MS, fuel hydrocarbons, etc.), inorganic (metals, anions, nutrients, etc.), and biological (e. Coli, microcystin and other toxins, whole effluent toxicity, etc.), following EPA methods or consensus standards. The project assignments also include ambient air monitoring for priority pollutants, data validation for the Superfund and other programs, writing and reviewing quality assurance documents such as QAPPs and SAPs, ecological risk assessment (ERA), database management and support, subcontracting of environmental sample analysis, hydrogeological site characterization, GIS and spatial and non-spatial data handling, field sampling and analysis (to include fish and other biota collection), and warehouse support.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other physical science.(Allowable substitution, 20 years’ experience as a project manager on federal contracts in the environmental sector.)

Minimum 10 years of experience to include EPA analytical programs and EPA analytical methods

Wetland Environmental Scientist (Mid to Senior Level)

Tetra Tech is adding a Mid to Senior Level Wetland Scientist to our OGA team reporting to our office daily in Pittsburgh, PA.

Position Summary:

Candidate will be required to serve as a mid-level environmental scientist for projects with a wetland, ecological services, and wildlife component (e.g., wetland delineation and functional assessments; Section 401/404 permit support; wetland/stream mitigation design and monitoring, wildlife surveys, botanical surveys, and habitat assessments). These studies are typically conducted to aid in the acquisition of necessary permitting or may serve as evidence for compliance requirements.
