Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field required. (Master’s or GISP certification is preferred)
Minimum of three (3) years of professional GIS experience, ideally in the oil & gas, energy, or environmental industries
Strong command of Esri products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, Field Maps, etc.)
Experience working with spatial data related to pipeline systems, water infrastructure, and land records
Experience working with Quorum QGIS and myQuorum Land
Having familiarity with the Permian Basin region (Texas & New Mexico) and associated regulatory environments is a big plus
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

The Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM):

The Office of Coastal Zone Management is the lead planning, policy, and technical assistance agency for coastal and ocean issues within the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. Description:

The Coastal Resilience Specialist will provide administrative, programmatic and technical support for CZM efforts to develop and implement strategies that protect coastal resources, properties, and public facilities from erosion, flooding, and sea level rise. The position serves under the direction of the Chief Coastal Resilience Officer on a multi-disciplinary team to assist with implementation of the ResilientCoasts Initiative, including planning, management, data development, and outreach.

Mid-Level Environmental Engineer

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world class Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team located in either Seattle, WA, Renton, WA, Everett, WA or Tukwila, WA.

The scope of this position will be to implement the Tanks and Sumps compliance program along with applicable Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans at the Everett, WA site as well as other sites in Washington associated with the Commercial Airplanes 737 Program. The 737 Program sites include Renton, North Boeing Field, Plant 2, South Park, and Moses Lake. The approximate time allocation is 1/3 at Everett and 2/3 at the 737 sites. This is a fully onsite role but there is flexibility in which site to work from although the selected candidate will spend time at all of the locations. Position Summary

The Water Transactions Specialist will evaluate, develop, implement, and steward flow restoration projects throughout Colorado using collaborative, voluntary, and market-based approaches. They will work on a team environment under the direction of the Programs Director, with a self-starting and entrepreneurial ethos. Geology Instructor

Slippery Rock University invites applications for a one-semester temporary position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning August 2025. We are seeking a broadly trained geologist or environmental scientist to teach undergraduate physical science courses for a general education audience. The successful candidate may incorporate geological or environmental science topics into the general education course but the course must focus on developing scientific literacy and communication skills.

Environmental Technician

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Environmental Department in assuring compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental regulations as it relates to monitoring the environment and investigating sources of pollution and contamination. Provides technical support for various environmental projects and facility operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in collecting water samples as well as generating and maintaining records for sampling and site maintenance.
Provides Quality Assurance (QA) and inputs lab results data on a monthly basis to WQ database.
Gathers and processes materials for annual BMP report including (but not limited to): maps indicating crops grown, soil test results, recommendations and fertilizer application records, pump logs, canal/ditch cleaning and laser leveling records, sediment sump cleaning records & laser leveling records and documentation of BMP training by staff and growers.
Conducts Bi-weekly EWOD permit required sampling, monthly & quarterly Industrial wastewater permit required sampling, conducts annual, quarterly, and monthly Drinking Water sampling and assists with weekly & monthly ENV compliance inspections at mill and agriculture locations.
Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting water collection sampling devices as well as laboratory equipment (pH meters, etc).
Assists in implementation of, transition to and management of electronic data management system for Environmental records, including inspection records, SOP’s, permits, etc.
Assists in maintaining relationships and liaisons between SCGC, its Growers and regulatory agencies.
Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.

Develops training lesson plan content that meet Xcel Academy standards, maintains instructor qualifications, and provides regulatory compliance training to Xcel personnel as is regulatory required and/or customer requested.

Monitors outcomes of incidents, regulatory inspections and internal audits of company owned facilities, contractors, and/or outside disposal facilities and conducts and/or assesses root cause analysis to ensure corrective actions adequately address the problem and non-compliance conditions are not repeated. Monitors statutes, regulations, licenses, and/or permits for potential impacts to facility operations. Minimum Requirements

BS/BA in environmental science, engineering, applied science, or related fields and six years of progressively more responsible environmental related work experience including, but not limited to environmental regulations, remedial procedures, audit procedures, and power generation processes.

Demonstrated skills in technical writing, verbal communication, and negotiations. (Note: An Associate college degree in areas of environmental or applied science and three years of progressive responsibilities in related work experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Aquatic Ecology Field Researcher

The primary role of these positions is to investigate the condition of Great Lakes Coastal wetlands and Lake Superior streams using fish and aquatic macroinvertebrates.

The technicians will also assist with a project investigating invasive crayfish trapping on inland Minnesota lakes. Field technicians will work in teams of 2-4 individuals to conduct surveys by boat, hiking overland, or wading in streams. This work will require overnight travel from mid-June to early August on up to four, 5-8 day trips. Crews can expect to travel anywhere from Green Bay, WI to Keweenaw Peninsula, MI and as far north as Grand Portage, MN. Local work in the Duluth area will primarily occur in early June, August and September. Transportation, lodging, and a meal allowance is provided during travel away from Duluth. When crews are working around Duluth on a standard work schedule (M-F) and on days off, crew are responsible for their own transportation, housing, and food. This appointment will last until crew members need to return to classes or until the work is completed (typically into September), but will not extend past October 31st, 2025.

Technicians will receive considerable safety and project training before field excursions, including boat handling and trailering training and safety. UMD, NRRI, and project orientation in-person and online trainings will start at the end of May. New employees will have opportunities to practice boat trailering and field safety skills at NRRI before the first field excursion. Coastal wetland field training will occur in mid to late June during a weeklong field trip with all crew members. Field training will cover basic boat operation, boat trailering, water safety, handling and identifying fish and crayfish, macroinvertebrate sampling, and collecting and processing water quality samples.

NRRI will provide personal protection equipment (PPE) for field work such as waders, life jackets, basic rain gear, eye and hand protection, sunscreen, bug spray, hand sanitizer, head nets, etc. Employees are responsible for procuring their own field-appropriate clothing, lunchbox/day pack, water bottles, and kit of anything needed for a long day of fieldwork (e.g., SPF lip balm, medicines, lunches/snacks). When crews are working around Duluth on a standard work schedule, and on days off, crew are responsible for their own transportation, housing, and food.

All applicants must be able to travel on 5–8-day overnight field trips this summer (4-6 trips total). Strong applicants will also have a background in boating, first aid, a demonstrated ability to learn new skills and work cooperatively on a team, and mechanical aptitude to diagnose and fix broken things.

Job Duties

(75%) Field sampling and travel. Technicians will document fish, aquatic macroinvertebrates, habitat, aquatic vegetation, and water quality in Great Lakes coastal wetlands and tributaries of Lake Superior; electro fish and sample aquatic invertebrates and habitat in wadable streams, use minnow traps for crayfish trapping, and other similar duties. Field technicians must be capable of hiking all day in wadable streams and through trail-less forested areas, should be able to swim, and must be able to work cooperatively in small groups during extended overnight travel.

(10%) Organizing field equipment, preparing/packing for field trips, reporting on sample collection activities.

(10%) Processing invertebrate or water quality samples in the laboratory.

(5%) Using computer and GPS to navigate to sampling sites and manage field data.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or the equivalent with some science courses and two years of experience in relevant academic and work experience may be substituted.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (absolutely no moving violations; any offer of employment is contingent upon passing a motor vehicle background check).
Must have daily transportation to and from NRRI facility and have or obtain housing in the Duluth, MN area for the term of this appointment.
Ability to communicate and work closely with team members in both a laboratory and outdoor setting.
Physical ability to work long hours outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, and carrying heavy equipment over uneven terrain.
Must be able to travel away from the Duluth, MN area for fieldwork 4-6 times throughout the summer on 5-8 day field trips.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference for spending time outdoors
Experience sampling and identifying fish, invertebrates, aquatic vegetation and/or collecting water samples.
Classwork in biology, ecology, limnology, or similar.
Boating and trailering experience; have a Boaters Safety Certificate.
Strong communication skills, positive attitude, experience working on a team.
Computer skills performing data entry and Excel spreadsheet management.
Familiarity using handheld GPS, compass, and reading topographical maps.
Mechanical aptitude: e.g., changing vehicle and trailer tires, troubleshooting boat motors, performing routine maintenance of vehicles, trailers, boats, and motors.
