This is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate is expected to become an exceptional teacher who values mentoring and advising students. The faculty member will engage in service and scholarly activity with interest in continued growth and enhancement of the department’s participation in ACU’s undergraduate research program.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Range Management, Wildlife management, or closely related field. Individuals with appropriate master’s degrees who are working toward the above terminal degree will be considered.

Manager of Energy

General

The Manager of Energy reports to the Chief, Rail Commercial & Business Development. The position is responsible for managing and overseeing energy procurement and delivery Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain).
Essential Functions & Duties

Examples of Essential Functions:

Oversight of Caltrain’s activities and operations of energy procurement and delivery, including resource planning, power supply, cost forecasting, reporting, managing the Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS) Program, and compliance with federal and state energy regulations.
Lead and manage long-term energy procurement strategy to achieve stable and affordable costs, and a clean power supply portfolio to support Caltrain’s operations.
Negotiate with external stakeholders and counterparties on contract and power supply and financial obligations.
Manage and administer the LCFS Program.
Work with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with existing statutory, regulatory, and commercial obligations.
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of energy related goals.
Act as the energy-related SME for Caltrain operations and capital projects.
Responsible for research, interpreting and applying Federal, State, and Local energy related policies, laws and regulations.
Serve as the liaison to outside stakeholders and agencies on energy and climate matters with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies and negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
Serves as the primary point of contact regarding any energy projects and programs and performs related duties as assigned.
May Supervise staff. Hire, mentor, and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action. Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

Example of Essential Duties:

Manage and oversee the activities and operations of energy programs and projects, including the procurement and delivery of energy to support Caltrain’s operational needs.
Manage energy-related contracts and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
Manage Caltrain’s participation in the LCFS Program and recommends and administers policies and procedures to ensure compliance with and maximum revenue from the LCFS program.
Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities for assigned programs; recommends and administers policies and procedures for energy related activities.
Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of energy procurement and delivery methods and procedures; recommends changes to Caltrain policies or procedures to ensure the delivery of reliable and cost-effective energy in support of Caltrain’s operations; recommends, within departmental policy, appropriate service, and staffing levels.
Collaborate and coordinate energy projects, programs, and processes with other departments within Caltrain.
Develop and oversee annual energy budget and recommend and implement practices and procedures to monitor and report on energy related costs.
Seek cost containment strategies in energy procurement and delivery, including alternative sources of power, if and when feasible.
Research and recommend energy programs and projects; support and seek passage of legislation to facilitate Caltrain’s energy objectives.
Serve as the primary point of contact with PG&E for the delivery of energy; manages and executes any necessary agreements between Caltrain and PG&E.
Serves as the primary point of contact with Community Choice Aggregators and any power suppliers for the procurement of energy; manages and executes any necessary agreements between Caltrain and power suppliers.
Monitor regulatory developments and legislation related to assigned area of responsibility and evaluate impact upon operations, reliability, and costs.
Serve as staff on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; prepare and present staff reports, and other necessary correspondence as required.
Conduct a variety of energy studies and forecasts, investigations, and operational studies; recommend modifications to budget programs, long-term costs, policies, and procedures as appropriate.
Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm and promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, science, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field in energy from an accredited college or university.
The equivalent of five (5) years of full-time energy procurement or related experience, which must include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Additional professional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-four-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in related transportation and energy fields preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in preparing budgetary, statistical and economic analysis.
Advance knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) (e.g., PeopleSoft) or other database or financial enterprise system.

Assistant Professor, Biology/Environmental Science

Oceanographic Technical Specialist II

The full salary range for the Senior Industrial Hygiene Specialist is $71,100.00 – $128,700.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $71,100 – $99,900. Environmental Protection Specialist

The Division of Risk Management and Safety has an opening for an Environmental Protection Specialist Ito support the AU Partnership with Fort Moore. This is an exciting opportunity to help support the Fort Moore environmental compliance program. Essential Functions:

Provides technical guidance in relation to regulated waste to include RCRA hazardous waste, universal waste, and other special wastes.

Participate and provide support for hazmat spill emergency response.

Staff Geoscientist

Earth Data Northeast, Inc. (“EDN”) provides geophysical and hydrogeological field services to the environmental industry. Position involves the operation of packer testing equipment in the field for the purpose of formation evaluation, as well as the installation of multi-level groundwater monitoring and sampling systems. Office responsibilities include data analysis, interpretation, and report writing. Position involves approximately 50-70% outdoor field work and travel throughout the United States. Work activities will be performed on groundwater contamination sites in support of site investigations and remediation.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in geology/hydrogeology, geophysics, environmental science or similar field from an accredited college or university and a strong interest in the earth sciences. Candidates must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and proficiency with mechanical and electrical systems.

Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, superior driving record, and be insurable. Candidates will be required to participate in health and safety training, medical monitoring, and drug and alcohol testing. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER safety training a plus.

Environmental Program Manager

Under general direction of the Environmental Program Manager, administers assigned environmental compliance programs. Performs investigations, environmental testing, and other duties in office, lab, and/or on location in the field as needed; analyzes and interprets data; Supports Program Manager in implementation of Environmental Affairs’ stakeholder role in DFW’s Sustainability Policy and implementation of DFW Airport’s Environmental Management System and Environmental Policy and implements Best Management & Good Housekeeping Practices. Conducts compliance inspections for the activities of internal DFW Board departments, airlines, tenants, and coordinates with governmental and other regulatory agencies.

What you will be doing:

Administers assigned environmental compliance program(s); analyzes federal, state and local environmental regulations that impact airport property, planning and/or operations and develops options for compliance with impacted work and/or operational areas; makes recommendations and assists in developing program plans.
Prepares technical reports and presents findings in writing and in meetings/presentations.

What you need:

Bachelor’s degree in physical or life sciences, environmental science, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) years of professional experience in environmental operations, environmental analysis, or environmental program administration.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted to the above.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
