The Stormwater Engineer provides professional work in the field of civil engineering, specifically pertaining to stormwater management, including designing and reviewing systems to manage surface runoff, hydrology, and hydraulics. This includes designing and reviewing designs of stormwater basins, BMPs, pipes, and other infrastructure. The Stormwater Engineer also manages the stormwater fee program. This position involves a great deal of interaction with the public. This position requires a Bacholor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, minimum four (4) years of experience in civil engineering and stormwater management, a solid foundation of mathematical principles including algebra, calculus, and trigonometry to perform engineering calculations using computer programs, and a Pennsylvania Professional Engineer License.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range is $79,125-$115,401.

Climate Forest Lead

HP is an industry leader in sustainability and has announced ambitious goals to address Climate, Human Rights, and the Digital Divide. HP is expanding our Climate Team to include a Forest Expert to work with internal and external partners to drive our Forest goals. This individual is a recognized authority and subject matter expert in Forest conservation and management methodologies and policy, and who has worked with our current NGO partners including World Wildlife Fund, Conservation International, and Arbor Day Foundation. This person will report into the Climate Director and will contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas that can help drive HP’s Forest-related long-term goals and objectives.

At the Expert level, this individual will solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommend appropriate alternatives. The individual will be expected to work on problems of diverse complexity and scope; act as a team or project leader by providing direction to team activities and facilitating information validation and team decision making processes. Responsibilities:

Identify and evaluate new technologies, innovations, and develop partner relationships to assure alignment with HP’s Forest strategy.
Leverage recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, and other organizations, to advance forest restoration and conservation efforts and build partnerships that support these initiatives.
Monitor and evaluate the success of forest restoration and conservation initiatives and adjust strategies and tactics as needed.
Serve as the Climate Team’s relationship manager with our internal and external partners.
Conduct research and analysis related to forest management practices, climate change mitigation, sustainability standards, and other relevant topics to inform HP’s forest-related strategy and initiatives.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and innovations related to forest restoration and conservation and evaluate their potential applications to HP’s initiatives.
Provide regular reports and updates on HP’s forest-related initiatives to executive leadership, external stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
Represent HP at conferences, industry events, and other forums related to forest restoration and conservation.
Develop internal policies, standards, and guidance for internal stakeholders to implement HP’s forest strategy
Develop communications materials (e.g., trainings, contract language, FAQs) and respond to customer and internal inquiries.
Develop and manage budgets and resource allocations for forest-related initiatives.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Forestry, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Biology, Ecology, or other relevant field.
10+ years of experience in forest management, conservation, or related field.

Strong understanding of the forest products industry, nature-based solutions, forest ecology, conservation biogeography, political ecology, and externalities including regulatory and standards developments.

Tasks for this position will include stakeholder outreach, verifying compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and federal grant tracking and reporting. This position will also support energy emergency response activities of the agency, review energy policy, manage and analyze energy project data and statistics, and contribute to the Energy Office’s collaborative public outreach and education.

The ideal candidate would have previous experience implementing regulatory programs for energy development projects, conducting stakeholder engagement, providing customer service, supporting power systems planning, and implementing federal funding. Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with project tracking and analysis, and a record of effective teamwork are essential to this position. Experience with emergency response and implementing statutes and administrative rules is also desirable.

NEPA and Environmental Permit Coordinator

Environmental Compliance Specialist II

Summary:

The Environmental Compliance Specialist II is responsible for the implementation and administration of environmental policies, programs, and trainings at Trident’s seafood processing facilities in the United States. This position works in collaboration with key plant and corporate stakeholders, as well as with a team of 2-5 Environmental Compliance Specialists under the supervision of the Environmental Compliance Director/Manager. This position includes travel to remote areas of Alaska.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Builds, maintains & update hydraulic models for the City of Houston wastewater system service areas and applies hydraulic models to develop operational and CIP projects, and long-range strategies. Evaluates and plans the water and wastewater systems using different tools and techniques including advanced computer models, Business Analytics (BI) and Geographical Information System (GIS). Identify, evaluate, recommend, and plan for improvements of operations, procedures, facilities and systems. Performs and reviews engineering computations. Research Scientist

The School of Plant and Environmental Science at Virginia Tech is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to lead the barley breeding efforts within the small grains breeding program at Virginia Tech under the mentorship of the program lead. The applicant is expected to develop and apply novel breeding methods using high-dimensional genomic information and high-throughput phenotyping. The successful applicant is expected to lead all barley breeding efforts within the program as well as research projects as a principal investigator related to development of new barley varieties adapted to the eastern United States.
The successful applicant is expected to apply advanced modeling techniques to phenotypic, genomic and environmental data to drive breeding decision making. The successful applicant will lead breeding research projects related to barley development, serving as PI with the small grains breeder serving as Co-PI. The applicant will serve as a mentor to teach methods and technique to graduate students conducting research in barley breeding.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in plant or animal breeding, population or quantitative genetics, and experience in a crop breeding program; Ability to work as a team member, excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to present information in public forums, excellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to work safely in an agricultural environment. Must have a demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and experience in cultivar development.

Preferred Qualifications

Development of cultivars, knowledge in mixed models, genomic prediction, sequence alignment and variant calling methods, proximal sensing, significant programing proficiency in a suitable scientific language (Python, Julia, R, C, C++, Fortran, etc.), machine learning, and knowledge or familiarity of crop management and field research techniques.

Research Scientist

The Center for Clean Water Technology is recruiting a Research Scientist with a focus on wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). The project will be aimed at detecting and quantifying drugs, including opioids, illicit drugs, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, and other chemicals in wastewater. The project may also involve identifying pathogens of concern in wastewater and studying potential public health implications. WBE can serve as an early warning tool for understanding the drug consumption trend or the emergence of any new outbreaks in defined communities, which may assist in public health interventions. Prospective candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, prior experience collaborating in extensive multidisciplinary teams, effective communication skills, mentoring abilities, and adaptability to changing research directions.
