Regional Director

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, a non-profit, wildlife habitat conservation organization, seeks a performance-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills to engage and manage volunteer activities, event fundraising and mission granting program oversight in Southern California.

This position is remote but requires you to live in Southern California.

Summary:

Field Operations is the primary fundraising structure of the RMEF. Regional directors oversee local volunteer chapters in organizing fundraising events, primarily banquets and other event activities, to support the continued operation of RMEF and finance elk and wildlife conservation projects. In addition to event-based fundraising, regional directors should work within their region on volunteer recruitment, retention, and training. Regional directors are responsible for overseeing the RMEF granting program in their respective state/s to fund mission related projects within the state.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Business, Marketing, Fundraising, Communications, or related field preferred, and minimum of five years additional experience required. Prior experience working with volunteers and fundraising preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

1. Thorough knowledge and support of the RMEF’s mission, goals, organizational structure, and activities, including biological, social, and political elements that shape them, and the ability to promote them. Inclusive understanding about hunting and the key role it plays in relation to wildlife management and conservation.

2. Must possess excellent people skills and be able to develop effective relationships with a wide variety of individuals.

3. Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and be able to direct and motivate volunteers.

4. Must be able to identify future chapter opportunities and recruit volunteers to capitalize on these opportunities to grow the number of chapters and volunteers within the region.

5. Proficient in annual fundraising income projections and operating expense budgets.

6. Must be able to work cooperatively with wildlife and land management professionals in government agencies and non-governmental entities.

7. Proficiency in web-based software platforms and office computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, is required.

8. Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and written. Must be able to speak to large groups of people.

9. Must have the ability to work independently without frequent, direct supervision and to remain focused on goals while also supporting the regional team when needed.

10. Must have the ability to work in and foster a team-oriented environment.

11. Must have the ability to resolve conflict and be flexible with changing priorities, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

12. Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours.

Starting salary is $70,304 a year depending on experience.

Duties of the VP of Conservation Programs:

The Vice President of Conservation Programs will guide and integrate the Wilderness Trust’s Land Conservation, Stewardship, and Wildlands Ecology programs, leading a talented team to achieve ambitious goals for protecting and restoring wilderness across the Northeast.

The VP of Conservation Programs will serve as a key member of the Executive Team, collaborating with the President and CEO and other senior leaders to shape and implement the Trust’s strategic vision. This role directly manages three program directors and oversees a total staff of 11, with opportunities for future growth. This position is based in Montpelier, VT.

Project Manager, Parks

The Department of Public Works, Bureau of Facilities, Architecture Division, manages all design and construction projects for City-owned and operated facilities. Design may be completed either in-house or through consultant contract, depending on the size and complexity of the project. We are seeking experienced professionals to administer and manage work for multiple-phase construction projects from preliminary design until completion. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, collaborating with multidisciplinary consultants, including Architects, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers, and Engineers, and will be responsible for effectively monitoring progress and managing workflows throughout all design phases for assigned projects.

POSITION DUTIES

Supervises consultant work for planning, design, construction, construction administration, and inspection of complex multidisciplinary Capital projects in various areas, including but not limited to City-owned or operated parks, playgrounds, sports facilities, swimming pools, trails, and dog parks.
Designs and manages in-house projects from community engagement through project closeout.
Prepares project scope and other contract or bid documents for consultant and vendor services.
Manages complex relationships with other departments, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
Directs work of assigned City personnel; evaluates work; provides training and/or technical assistance as requested or required.
Develops and reviews construction documents, reports, shop drawings, and other project documents, in collaboration with design and consultant teams.
Applies extensive knowledge of design and construction project management concepts, principles, methods, and best management practices.
Develops and maintains project budgets and schedules, and monitors the performance of all parties connected to assigned projects.
Provides status reports on all assigned projects to the Supervisor/ senior staff as needed.
Reviews invoices and payrolls. Verifies and approves work performed by consultants and contractors.
Performs other related tasks, duties, activities, and functions as assigned or required.

WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must show three (3) years of full-time paid professional experience designing and/or managing multi-disciplined Capital Park Projects, and three (3) years of real-world AutoCAD software experience.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited institution in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Soil and Water Land Conservation Specialist

This job is assigned to Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District (Conservation District) and will assist the Board of Supervisors and the Executive Director in delivering technical services in support of land, soil and water conservation practices within the watersheds that flow through Hillsborough County and into Tampa Bay. The incumbent will provide consultations to landowners and operators, assist in identifying and applying for project funding, and track and monitor the performance of land and water conservation projects, with an emphasis on rural working lands and green infrastructure. The incumbent also will serve as the Conservation District’s subject matter expert on programs and best management practices (BMPs), engage with a diverse group of stakeholders and assist the Executive Director and Board in identifying and developing funding sources and delivering educational programs. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in agriculture, expertise in geographic information- or agricultural automation systems, excellent communication skills, and a passion for meeting environmental challenges that are associated with rural-working lands.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environmental Knowledge: Understanding of agricultural sciences, technologies, policies and practices that support the long-term viability of soil and water resources at the local and regional scales.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including public speaking, are essential for conveying information to the local agricultural producer and landowner audience. Good communication in Spanish is valuable to the position but is not a substitute for effective communication skills in English.
Networking: Ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders among trade groups, landowners, educational institutions, government and non-profit entities.
Project Management: Detail-oriented with excellent workload management skills; Progressive knowledge, skills and abilities in the planning, organizing, and implementation of projects (agricultural industry certifications desirable but not required for hire).
Research and Data Analysis: Working knowledge of geographic information systems and or agricultural automation systems (such as Artificial Intelligence or remote sensing) is highly desirable. Basic skills in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting environmental data. Ability and willingness to research Federal, State, and Foundational funding opportunities and support the Executive Director in developing grant applications.
Community Engagement: Ability to engage and involve the community in conservation efforts. Ability to master program and technical information well enough to communicate the purpose, benefits and requirements of cooperative agreements associated with Agricultural Best Management Practices.
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Ability and skills to address challenges and find practical solutions. Ability to read, comprehend and analyze a variety of complex written communications including legislative documents, policy manuals, operating procedures, rules, and regulations on behalf of the Executive Director and the Board.
Policy Awareness: Stay informed about relevant environmental policies and regulations and maintain a technical familiarity with relevant laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: At least bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of agriculture that addresses the management of land, soil, water, and closely associated ecological systems or in agricultural communications, is typically required to achieve the subject matter expertise. A master’s degree in one of the relevant fields is highly desirable.
Experience: At least four years of relevant work experience in addition to a college degree with some combination of land management, soil testing, surface water pollution controls, environmental water quality monitoring, or other closely related natural resource management activities is preferred. A master’s degree may substitute. Technical writing experiences, such as for project planning, grant applications, project or grant performance reporting, or natural resource journalism is preferred.

Regional Biologist I

Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, seeks a highly motivated biologist to join our Great Lakes Initiative Team. As a Regional Biologist I, you will work with a team of biologists, engineers, and land protection professionals to identify, develop, fund and implement coastal and inland wetland restoration, enhancement and protection projects in Northeast Wisconsin to support DU’s waterfowl and wetlands conservation mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will work closely with DU staff, conservation partners, landowners, and funding agencies to advance the conservation of wetland and associated upland habitats. This will require coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders to establish priorities and identify new wetland conservation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, that is highly motivated with a strong sense of initiative and adaptability that can work independently and as part of a team to fulfill DU’s waterfowl habitat conservation objectives within Wisconsin. The Regional Biologist I will have a multi-program responsibility, including private and public land programs with primary focus on coastal wetland restoration/enhancement.

SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, salaried position. Working hours will be a balance of office and field work, with the approximate allocation dependent on scheduling, seasonal priorities, and other factors. The position is predominantly office-based but does require periods of travel including overnight and out-of-state trips.

This position will report to the Director of Conservation Programs for the Great Lakes Initiative. This position is remote work eligible with a preferred co-location in a partner office (TBD).

To maintain project timelines, we have a preferred start date on or before February 2, 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science degree (M.S. preferred) in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or related natural resources field with 3-5+ years of directly related experience developing and managing wetland protection, restoration and enhancement projects.

Experience writing funding proposals and managing grants.
Strong background in wetland ecology and management with an emphasis on restoration, waterfowl, and other wetland dependent birds with knowledge of and experience with restoration techniques, modeling, hydrology and restoration monitoring.
Detail oriented and well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
Excellent management and leadership skills, grounded in a commitment to collaboration with and support of staff.
Confidence to create strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members and the written and verbal communication skills to work with a wide range of people.

Arborist

General Summary

This is professional arborist and urban forest work as it relates to city-wide tree, shrub landscape maintenance and tree permitting and plan review program. The work requires knowledge, understanding, and application of the techniques, methods, and procedures of arboriculture. Operates tools associated with the assessment of trees and tree planting sites, and tools used to train others in the care and maintenance of newly planted trees. Work is performed under general supervision of the Neighborhoods Department Director. Performance is reviewed in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained.
Duties and Responsibilities

Plans, schedules, monitors, directs, reviews, and evaluates the work of crews and contractors engaged in tree and planting installation, tree pruning and shrub maintenance, and landscape maintenance.
Conducts field studies, compiles data, and prepares recommendations.
Processes tree permit applications and plan review, inspections related to tree permits, mitigation calculations and other related tree permit duties.
Provide technical assistance related to the city tree regulations.
Monitors planting projects and other landscape work in the city’s parks.
Maintains computerized record systems of studies and projects.
Maintains database and inventory of the City’s Heritage trees.
Responds to and administers citizen driven service requests and questions.
Responds to citizens’ right-of-way planting requests and concerns.
Responds to public damaged tree claims and manages the replanting of trees.
Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer using word processing, spreadsheet, and other related software applications.
Assist Streets Maintenance related to trees as needed.
Assist Stormwater Maintenance related to trees as needed.
Assist other City departments as approved by director.
Participate in hurricane preparedness activities.
Perform all other duties as required.

Education and Experience

Four (4) years of education and/or professional experience in urban forestry or directly related field which includes successful completion of 24 semester hours of course work in arboriculture, horticulture or environmental science or related subject. A bachelor’s degree in arboriculture, forestry, landscape architect or a related field preferred.

Licenses and/or Certificates:
Must possess and maintain valid certification from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) as an ISA Certified Arborist or ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional or ISA Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist, and/or ISA Board Certified Master Arborist.
Valid Florida Driver’s License with satisfactory motor driving record is required. First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Associate Forester

This position is onsite at the Adrian Service Center located in Adrian, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Associate Forester is responsible for providing forestry services to the Company. This includes conducting tree inventories, developing tree removal specifications, and overseeing tree removal activities. Additionally, the Associate Forester is tasked with creating and implementing vegetation management plans, as well as performing tree risk assessments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with storm restoration efforts alongside non-company crews for both HVD and LVD systems.
Interact with customers regarding internal and external concerns, ensuring all issues are brought to final resolution.
Collaborate with other departments within CE to cross-train and learn various forestry best practices.
Manage multiple assigned projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met and regularly reviewing project status with the Forestry Supervisor. Perform quality control checks on completed projects as directed.
Conduct on-site visits to company assets located on customer properties to assess tree health, identify potential risks, and recommend solutions. Prepare detailed reports that outline findings and recommendations for each site.
Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing expert consulting services related to tree risk assessment, tree inventory, tree valuation, and tree removal.
Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

Job purpose

Through a Pilot Umbrella Agreement (PUA) partnership with the South Carolina Natural Resources Conservation Service, the South Carolina based Southeast Implementation Specialist helps farmers, landowners, and other program participants with technical assistance, implementation of conservation practices and participation in Farm Bill and other conservation programs.

Position Summary

The South Carolina based Southeast Implementation Specialist will provide technical assistance to farmers, landowners, and partners. This technical assistance includes a wide range of programmatic, agronomic, and engineering practices and may vary by farm or operation. Work may also include farmer engagement and supporting farmers with identifying and overcoming impediments to practice adoption and implementation.

Qualifications

At least 7 years of professional experience, working on farms or in land stewardship or land management positions.
A college degree in a directly related field may be substituted for up to 4 years of work experience.
Excellent customer service, communication (phone, writing, partner relations), and interpersonal, record keeping, and task management skills.
A deep working knowledge of agriculture, conservation, and an understanding of the culture of farmers and farming.
A proven track record of implementing or assisting with the implementation of conservation practices.
Experience with NRCS funded conservation practices is especially valuable but not required.
The ability to develop relationships with a wide array of farmers and operation types and support them in achieving their goals, ideally in a farming or land management context.
Ability to see the big picture while being incredibly detail oriented.
Success in roles requiring simultaneous management of multiple priorities and processes under tight timelines is important.

A valid US driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Horticulturist Assistant

The Research Greenhouse Horticulturist Assistant is responsible for assisting the Greenhouse Manager and Greenhouse Horticulturists with the care and maintenance of plants in the Duke Bioscience Research Greenhouses and Live Plant Collections. This includes assisting with day-to-day operations and maintenance of the greenhouse and associated facilities and equipment. This position’s schedule must include both weekend days, and three other continuous days each week. This position requires that the employee work independently on weekends and occasional holidays.

Required Qualifications

Education: Work requires knowledge of botany or horticulture normally acquired through a two- year Associate degree program in horticulture or two years post-secondary education in botany or a related field.

Must be able to obtain North Carolina Pesticide License.

Experience: Work requires one year of experience in horticulture or related area to acquire technical skills necessary to perform such duties as plant cultivation, plant propagation, plant selection and other duties consistent with greenhouse maintenance. Public Garden experience preferred.

Watershed Specialist

Join the Vermont Land Trust, a national leader in land conservation, as a Watershed Specialist.

Evaluate and protect ecological features on VLT-conserved lands through GIS analysis, field assessments, and ecological reporting to support easement design and surface water protections.
