The Managing Director, Sustainability is accountable for development and implementation of long-term strategy, operational and financial performance of environmental sustainability and the Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) program at Alaska Airlines. The role includes deep and direct responsibility for continued evolution of our strategy and plans to manage and reduce the carbon footprint of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and to achieve the airlinesÔÇÖ environmental sustainability goals with initiatives to scale up use of sustainable aviation fuel, drive operational efficiency, cultivate and leverage new technologies related to achieving these goals including carbon removals, mitigate the impact of climate change on the business, and develop new ways to engage stakeholders in enabling the journey.

The role is also responsible for ensuring forward progress and effective measurement, goal-setting, and internal and external communications, and reporting on the breadth of our ESG goals and program elements, to fulfill stakeholdersÔÇÖ expectations and drive engagement.

This role will work with leaders and teams across our company ÔÇô including operations, commercial, financial, human resources, legal, regulatory, and public affairs ÔÇô and will partner closely with our venture arm, Alaska Star Ventures, to identify and enable technologies that can accelerate our path to net zero.

As a people leader, this role is responsible for establishing strategic goals and direction for a team of leaders to implement innovative sustainability solutions, manage data and metrics to effectively translate the work and performance to stakeholders, and ensure progress toward our environmental sustainability and ESG goals in a way that reflects our values and stewardship while driving long-term value in our business.

Key Duties

Drive the long-term sustainability plan toward set goals for waste, water, to be the #1 most fuel-efficient US airline, and the companyÔÇÖs long-term path to net zero, in ways that deliver value to the business.

Enable progress for our business while navigating and influencing rapidly changing technology, customer expectations, regulatory environment, and competitive pressures.

Lead, manage, and develop a team of professionals focused on aspects of sustainability including carbon management, supplier and customer partnerships, technology evaluation, sustainability education, and ESG reporting.

Prepare and deliver executive-level communications, including providing representation for Alaska Airlines on industry and cross-industry coalitions related to ESG and sustainability issues, preparing content and presenting at meetings of the companyÔÇÖs Executive Committee and Board of Directors, chairing and managing progress through internal management committees, and cultivating cross-functional relationships to drive strategy and results.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality disclosure, data management, and controls for AAG environmental impact and ESG data including as it relates to AlaskaÔÇÖs annual sustainability report, voluntary reporting, CDP, TCFD and other frameworks, and regulatory-required reporting in partnership with other accountable functions across Air Group.

Manage an integrated effort and cross-functional responsibilities for the environmental impact and performance to required and voluntary goals for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.Lead development and execution of a company-wide approach to embed understanding, awareness, and management of our environmental impact into culture, training, process, and communications for cross-functional ownership and to drive behavior change.

Partner with government affairs and regulatory to understand, influence, and integrate the developing landscape of public policy, regulation, and non-governmental guidelines that drive work in these areas of responsibility and operations.

Work with the commercial and public affairs divisions to develop, design, and incorporate new products, partnerships, and offerings to cultivate customer support for AlaskaÔÇÖs sustainability journey, including sustainable aviation fuel for business travel, individual guest engagement, and employee volunteerism.

Manage and ensure continuous improvement of processes to manage environmental and other ESG impacts, with rigorous performance management and reporting.

Partner closely with environmental compliance, community engagement, DEI, and other teams to ensure the development and execution of plans and initiatives to support Air GroupÔÇÖs progress to ESG goals and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required:

10 years of relevant leadership experience in climate change, sustainable business planning, sustainability programs, environmental affairs, or a directly related area.

5 years of people leadership experience.

BachelorÔÇÖs degree with a focus in a relevant business field, or willingness to obtain a BachelorÔÇÖs degree within 6 years.

Ability to engage with top executives, to develop and present business plans and influence others. A strategic thinker and driven business professional, with deep understanding of climate change, change management, and cross-sector partnerships.

Knowledge of sustainable aviation fuel and carbon removal technologies will also be an advantage.

Sustainability Associate

This Sustainability Associate position is supported through an innovative partnership between Puget Sound Energy and Strategic Energy Innovations. Aimed at addressing the myriad of energy and environmental sustainability initiatives, this Fellowship model presents a distinct opportunity to shape energy efficiencies and sustainability practices across sectors and institutional roles.

At the core of this program is developing the next generation of thinkers and doers to help address sustainability in education settings. Roles in educational sustainability require a distinct combination of aptitudes including project management, data analytics, and community development. In addition to the Climate Corps training and UC Climate Stewards Certificate, this position offers professional development opportunities designed to help provide the range of skills necessary to execute sustainable programs or practices.

The candidate will work on pressing climate and sustainability problems and be relied upon to work toward replicable solutions. Project Engineer

Summary

NYPA’s Mission is to lead the transition to a carbon-free, economically vibrant New York through customer partnerships, innovative energy solutions, and the responsible supply of affordable, clean, and reliable electricity.

The Project Engineer supports the Energy Efficiency Services Division in achieving it’s goals to improve energy efficiency and stimulate new energy technologies in New York State through physical projects.
Responsibilities

Represent NYPA at customer meetings, design meetings, contractor walk through, and presentations to customers.
Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, and cost analyses for feasibility/audit reports.
Manage and implement multiple lighting, HVAC, controls, wastewater treatment, and building envelope energy conservation projects and new project development concurrently.
Project responsibility can range from 15-20 projects depending on scope. Projects are generally larger and more complex in nature and require moderate oversight by Management on project developments.
Develop customer installation commitment documents including cost recovery agreements requiring the development of economic analyses and engineering specifications.
Coordinate projects across multiple engineering disciplines. Track and prepare status reports for all assigned projects.
Evaluate project scope, review feasibility reports, make presentations and recommendations, develop design documents and specifications, evaluate bid results, and make recommendations for contract award.
Develop and verify engineering, labor and material bid specifications provided by staff and implementation contractors.
Ensure that all design, code, licensing and operating and maintenance requirements are met.
Review project activities for technical content, accuracy, cost control and schedule.
Solve problems related to customer bill savings, design and construction issues. Support the Senior/Lead Project Engineer and other senior engineers in negotiating change orders to construction and services contracts.
Develop and verify all financial and billing documentation relating to savings calculations supporting the cost-effective direct install projects.
Ensure that all financial resources expended by NYPA are fully recovered from each program participant. Evaluate all change order claims and payment invoices, while working as a team member with other engineers inside and outside of NYPA to develop the most cost-effective project designs.
Coordinate activities between contractors / consultants / equipment vendors / customers to provide project construction quality assurance in adherence to project specifications and compliance to state and local codes.
Comply and enforce the compliance of hazardous material handling, safety and environmental procedures.
Keep abreast of the latest technological developments, products and revisions to the NYPA project input parameters (electric Production and Delivery rates, Interest During Construction (IDC), financing term, discount rate, Gross Receipt Taxes (GRT), Contracts, Environmental and Bond Counsel).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of building mechanical/electrical systems and related codes is required. Strong knowledge of water/wastewater treatment systems is preferred.

Working knowledge of SAP, Oracle Primavera, and Microsoft Teams is preferred.

Education, Experience and Certifications

BachelorÔÇÖs degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience.
Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional Certification (PMPC) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or an advanced degree in an engineering, scientific or business discipline preferred.
Qualifications to sit for Part I of the PE exam preferred.

Physical Requirements

Approximately 35% travel primarily within NY State.
Ability to access all areas of the site and conduct physical evaluations of grounds and equipment including ability to climb and work at high elevations, walk a significant distance, sometimes on uneven ground, and occasional minor lifting.
Availability to work outside of normal business hours (including weekends) when project demands.

Energy Engineer

General Description:

MaGrann Associates is looking for two Energy Engineers (one in New Jersey and one in New York) who will be responsible for completing performance audits for existing multifamily buildings, including field assessments, utility bill analysis, energy modeling, cost estimating, financial analysis, and report preparation. The Energy Engineer will also perform visual verification of installed measures following audits and act as a technical consultant for clients as well as an interface to program agencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

Coordinate aspects of completion of audits on multifamily buildings and apartment complexes;

Perform on-site assessments, including detailed data collection and performance testing;

Obtain utility usage data from clients and analyze to isolate high usage components/units;

Coordinate or complete energy modeling using appropriate program-approved software;

Coordinate or complete estimation of savings and implementation cost for potential upgrade measures;

Compose audit reports summarizing findings, financial analysis, and recommendation;

Conduct peer reviews of audits completed by coworkers;

Environmental Sustainability Analyst

The Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team at The Walt Disney Company stewards the CompanyÔÇÖs progress towards its ambitious 2030 Environmental Goals focused on emissions, water, waste, materials, and sustainable design. The Staff Consultant – Climate Change and Sustainability will play a critical role in enriching and expanding the services Montrose brings to its clients. Given the pressures today’s companies are facing to proactively understand and address their ESG risks, opportunities, and impacts, this role will work collaboratively with the VP, Sustainability Advisory, and the full Environmental Advisory Services team to deliver climate change and sustainability solutions to our clients.

As a key member of the Environmental Advisory Services team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

Working on multiple climate change and sustainability projects for clients across all sectors, with focus in the oil & gas, chemical, and manufacturing sectors.
Supporting projects that help clients in their corporate sustainability journey, from early stages (e.g., materiality assessments, benchmarking) through goal setting, action planning for goal achievement, and sustainability reporting.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, sustainability, or an environmental science discipline; Master’s Degree in similar field preferred.
Up to three years of progressively responsible experience in environmental/sustainability consulting. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked directly with oil & gas, manufacturing, and chemical sector clients.
Climate change-related experience (e.g., GHG emissions inventories, science-based target setting, emissions reduction planning, and scenario analysis/ implementation of TCFD recommendations) is preferred. However, broader corporate sustainability experience (in-house or as a consultant) will also be considered (e.g., materiality assessments, goal and target setting, sustainability reporting, etc.).

Renewable Northwest seeks a highly motivated Renewable Energy Technical Director to represent the organization and support legislative, regulatory, and policy activities aimed at advancing the adoption of clean energy and energy storage. The Technical Director position can be remote or hybrid, but must be located within the metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon, where the Renewable Northwest headquarters are located, or Seattle, WA. This position also requires occasional travel in the western United States.

Renewable Northwest is a regional nonprofit advocacy organization promoting the expansion of environmentally responsible new renewable resources such as wind, solar, storage, wave, and geothermal energy. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as technical lead for the organization on matters ranging from capacity expansion modeling, to resource adequacy and reliability metrics and methodologies, to electricity market operations, to transmission planning and grid-enhancing technologies.
Represent Renewable Northwest and support other Renewable Northwest staff in legislative, regulatory, and agency proceedings when technical issues arise, including preparing quantitative analyses and expert testimony as necessary.
Evaluate utility integrated resource plans, including energy production cost and capacity expansion models and model results.
Prepare high-impact technical reports and white papers as well as presentations to critical stakeholders and external audiences and will assist in the planning and delivery of outreach and engagement opportunities including workshops and conferences.
Identify and supervise consultants as necessary to support Renewable Northwest’s technical work.
Coordinate with member organizations and other allies to develop policy proposals and technology-based solutions to expand opportunities for clean energy infrastructure and investment.
Develop trust and maintain relationships with decision-makers, the broader environmental community, community-based organizations, and other key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Passion for a clean energy future.
Degree in a relevant field with 4+ years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience includes (but is not limited to) work in utility, policy, economics, electrical engineering, or government settings.
Direct experience in energy system modeling (either generation or transmission) and reliability metrics. Work conducted as part of a graduate program qualifies.
Knowledge and experience related to the planning and design of electricity infrastructure, including:Understanding of energy storage technologies, inverter-based energy generation technologies, transmission, and distribution systems.

Knowledge of how different resources contribute to resource adequacy.
Familiarity with the stakeholders, utilities, and regulatory bodies engaged in clean energy technology deployment and related policy implementation.

Knowledge of energy policy and the utility regulatory process.
Knowledge of of western electricity markets
Significant technical interest in the areas of electricity infrastructure analysis, valuation, and regulatory approaches.
Strong quantitative analysis and technical writing skills.
Ability to manage multiple tactical projects while advancing cohesive overarching strategy.
Ability to work rapidly, yet strategically, within tight deadlines.
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
Strong work ethic and positive approach to work, team, and alliances.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Starting Annual Salary Range: $95,000 – $120,000, commensurate with experience.

The Center’s team of subject matter experts work with our robust national network of member units and their local communities to execute transformative strategies. The Center responds to environmental and climate justice issues leveraging change levers through a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder advocacy approach.

About the Fellow, Sustainable Community Development

The NAACP seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as a Fellow for the Center for Environmental and Climate Justice. At the NAACP, Fellows are content experts assigned to a core programming area, who contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Association. Fellows are thought partners to the Center Directors, serving as strategists and as part of his/her brain trust. Additionally, Fellows hold the primary task to conceptualize, develop, and execute projects and initiatives centered around the Black experience.

The ideal candidate has the capacity to develop a compelling view of the future of environmental and climate justice and how the NAACP can address rapidly evolving challenges in the field. The candidate has expertise in and expansive knowledge of environmental and climate justice issues. An ability to problem solve and think critically and a high level of emotional intelligence is required.

A proven track record in developing, implementing, executing, and evaluating impactful strategies with measurable outcomes to achieve defined goals is also necessary. The candidate should demonstrate success managing projects that involve multiple parties and people with diverse backgrounds and positions.

Curating a deeper body of research/analysis to affirm linkages to equity, improved public health and balance environmental, social and economic prosperity;
Leveraging public and private partnerships to enable access to capital and expand and scale the green building marketplace;
Pioneering sustainable solutions to transform the built environment at the local, state and national levels through engagement of NAACP constituents and other stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Act as the ambassador for the Association in the field to many important constituencies.
Assess policy, social, cultural and economic developments to identify priorities and help shape the Center’s strategy, advocacy and to guide its programming.
Manage, coach, galvanize, and work closely with a nimble team in developing, monitoring and evaluating integrated approaches contributing to the overall strategy.
Maintain effective ties and promote strategic partnerships with local leaders, governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations, and others to leverage new resources, scale impact, and advance the work.
Works closely with other Centers of Innovation to integrate various aspects of the work.
Provide intellectual leadership, internally and externally.
Manage ambiguity and devise timely solutions, even when a clear path is not evident.
Foster strong and continuous communication across the Chief Strategy Office.
Partner with Learning and Impact to measure and evaluate efforts and outcomes.
Lead an ongoing process of continuous improvement and learning.
Provide high-level technical assistance to state conferences, units and NAACP committees, including consultation on key issues and initiatives.
Articulate change strategies and convene key stakeholders as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational/Professional Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant or equivalent experience preferred;
Minimum of three to five years’ experience in relevant fields; including direct industry experience, experience in non-profit, policy, advocacy, or other civil rights organizations. Graduate-level internships and fellowships are considered acceptable professional experience as well;
Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication;
Experience in engaging in external partnerships and collaborations with foundations, non-profits, corporations, and other key stakeholders;
Proven background in project management and grant reporting
Proven ability to support cutting-edge research projects and engage with broad diverse audiences.
