Senior Building Energy Analyst

New Ecology, Inc. seeks candidates for the position of Senior Building Energy Analyst in the Boston office.

New Ecology, Inc. is an innovative, nationally-recognized, non-profit corporation with offices in Boston, MA; Baltimore, MD; and Wilmington, DE. Our core work is providing energy efficiency and green building services that cost-effectively improve the performance, health, durability, and climate-readiness of the built environment. Our clients are typically owners of multifamily housing, (with an emphasis on affordable housing) and community-based projects such as municipal, educational, and arts buildings. Projects include buildings that are being newly constructed, renovated, or are just seeking improved performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Building Energy Analyst is part of the Engineering Department and is responsible for using knowledge of architecture, engineering, and building energy simulation software to provide support for projects requiring modeling in order to comply with building codes, LEED, Energy Star, Enterprise Green Community, and various utility and municipal programs. The Analyst must evaluate existing building performance and advise clients on energy efficient, green building design. The Analyst will work with our expert project managers to guide the design and optimization process and improve performance of projects.

The Senior Building Energy Analyst’s duties include:

Synthesize large amounts of energy consumption, heat loss, and weather-related data, and conduct detailed data manipulation and analysis;
Perform whole building energy modeling and analysis at a variety of stages of project design and development, utilizing predominantly the ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G framework;
Develop building geometry from plans which may be provided in a variety of formats;
Model all types of building HVAC, domestic water heating, lighting, control, and other systems within the software;
Perform calculations outside the modeling software as required;
Use eQuest, Energy Plus, and possibly other simulation software, as well as 2D and 3D drawing programs, support software, and spreadsheets (these could include Autocad, Revit, Sketchup, Open Studio, and Rhino) and develop spreadsheet documentation that supports the modeling process;
Use programming languages such as Python or other tools to enhance model creation by working in source code;
Analyze the model outputs;
Provide feedback to project teams on cost effective ways of improving building performance and sustainability and develop and write studies that detail building components, describe energy efficiency alternatives to improve design and control, and outline modeling assumptions, for new and existing facilities;
Prepare reports and visual representations of data analysis, including summary documents such as graphs, charts, tables, slide presentations, as well as written reports;
Participate in design team meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors, and clearly communicate modeling results and proposed alternatives, and;
Assist with development of scopes of work by providing detailed information related to the time and costs associated with energy modeling.

Required Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, another relevant engineering discipline, Architecture, Design Studies, or Building Science plus at least 3 years of experience in Building Energy Analysis. This position requires all of the following specific skills and experience:

1. At least 3 years of experience in each of the following:

Building energy systems design;
Conducting energy audits;
Using hourly multizone energy simulation software (such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, IES, or similar);
Demonstrating advanced knowledge of the physics underlying building science;
Demonstrating advanced knowledge of engineering equations underlying energy efficiency calculations;
Demonstrating full understanding of building HVAC, envelope, lighting, plumbing, and other related systems commonly found in multifamily and commercial buildings;
Demonstrating knowledge of building enclosure systems and building science; and
Reading and interpreting building drawings and specifications.

2. At least 1 year of experience in each of the following:

Energy modeling to meet the LEED, Passive House, Energy Star Multifamily High Rise, Enterprise Green Community, municipal ordinance, and utility rebate program requirements;
Demonstrating proficiency with 2D and 3D drawing software such as Autocad, Revit, Sketchup, or similar;
Experience with modeling support software such as Open Studio, Design Builder, or similar; and
Demonstrating strong familiarity with energy codes and standards, including IECC and ASHRAE.

3. At least 6 months of experience with each of the following:

Familiarity with modeling guidelines and baseline requirements from ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Appendix G;
Using Passive House program requirements and compliance software such as WUFI Passive;
Scripting in programming languages such as Python or similar; and
Demonstrating competence with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or similar.

Environmental Standards Coordinator/Sustainability Coordinator

Overview

To ensure compliance with governmental regulations and to maintain a healthy and safe environment for OCPS staff and students.
Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in from an accredited institution

Three (3) years of experience in sustainability.

Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in management preferred.

The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnelâ€ during an emergency and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to detect and identify environmental concerns knowledge of environmental sampling protocol, ability to analyze environmental samples and interprets results. Ability to work and communicate effectively with building administrators, staff, students, community members, federal, state, and local government regulatory agencies, and inter-personal skills required. Possess proficiency in the ability to read and interpret local, state, and federal environmental regulations, technical documents and the Florida Department of Education (DOE) “State Requirements for Education Facilities“(SREF). Ability to effectively implement, coordinate and direct projects with contractors, school administrators, construction and maintenance employees. Knowledge of and commitment to decentralized decision making and accountability for results. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in all Microsoft Windows Based Applications. The ability to write and edit standard operating procedures, newsletter, training materials, PowerPoint presentations, etc. The ability to handle conflict resolution in a professional and diplomatic manner without compromising the district’s core values.

Associate Manager, Partnerships and Measurements, Mission and Sustainability

The Mission and Sustainability (M&S) team develops and enables the implementation of all of Danone North America’s mission and sustainability efforts. To deliver on Danone’s mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible, we must connect several integrated impact efforts across:

What will you do?

The base compensation range for this position is $80,000-$95,000 commensurate with experience. The Program Director-Special Projects Manager will work closely with the Transportation team at the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) to develop and implement projects that focus on expanding the use of transportation-related energy efficient and emission reduction technologies and policies in North Carolina. They also will help out other teams in areas that relate to electric vehicle infrastructure, sponsorship recruitment, and business development.

This position will involve building relationships with industry representatives with the goal of building partnerships around educational activities, recruiting financial sponsorships, and developing new business opportunities. The position requires the candidate to be organized and entrepreneurial with a technical familiarity of alternative fuels and advanced transportation technology and policy with a focus on emission reduction, energy efficiency and fuel diversity.

The person will also engage in analysis related to fleet assessments regarding vehicles and infrastructure. This analysis will require technical knowledge of electric and alternative fuel vehicles and their infrastructure.

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

Seeking out and developing additional related project work including new fee for service work, new grant opportunities, and new educational partnerships.
Staying abreast of clean transportation industry developments in terms of new technologies and business trends and helping the Center to develop strategies to keep our work relevant and maximize the impact of our activities.
Providing guidance and strategy for Clean Transportation team activities.
Recruiting speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors for educational events.
Developing opportunities to present, organizing and participating in meetings, conferences or events that coordinate and promote the use of alternative fuels and advanced transportation technologies.
Advising fleet managers on implementation of clean transportation technologies.
Engaging in analysis of fleets in the form of fleet assessments.
Serving as the primary investigator on grants, as appropriate.
Writing technical and narrative reports as required by funding agencies.
Supporting and speaking at educational events.
Some overnight travel will be required (less than 25% of a staff person’s time).

Senior Development Manager – Wind

The Senior Development Manager’s mission is to ensure that National Grid Renewables is originating and developing wind opportunities consistent with National Grid Renewables’ return expectations and corporate direction. The role will be critical in directing the company towards the right markets, project types and offtake targets. This role will be responsible for leading National Grid Renewables’ wind development portfolio and further expansion into the MISO, SPP, and Western PJM markets.

Duties

Lead the company in targeting and evaluating markets to identify wind greenfield developments, M&A, and partnership opportunities in the MISO, SPP, and PJM markets.
Provide recommendations to leadership on markets opportunities and priorities
Work with the commercial and finance teams to prepare financial models, evaluate new technologies, and prepare compelling solutions for customers.
Represent National Grid Renewables with federal, state and local officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and other stakeholders throughout the project development process.
Oversee and manage an internal team of senior developers, developers, associates and site acquisition specialists to implement National Grid Renewables greenfield development process.
Manage external relationships with consultants, contractors, and land agents.
Coordinate with the Interconnection department to site strategic Points of Interconnection, manage the interconnection process and obtain Generator Interconnect Agreements (GIAs).
Work with the Permitting department to manage state, federal, and local permitting efforts and approval processes for utility-scale electric generation projects.

Interface with the engineering and construction teams to ensure that projects are deliverable, considerate of site characteristics, and on-budget.
Interpret technical engineering and environmental reports and studies to determine project impact and pertinence towards application requirements.
Provide reports to management including updates on project status and changes to regulations.
Develop engineering estimates, scopes, and project schedules.
Interface with the engineering and construction teams to ensure that the project remains within budget and on schedule.
Manage annual development budget up to $5M for targeted project capital investment of over $600M.
Support development of 4-8 early/mid stage projects and 3 late-stage projects

What Sets You Apart:

Moody Center is a premiere 15,000+ seat venue to host the biggest artists and acts on the planet. Sustainability Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:
Coordination and Management of the OSU Sustainability Program to include development, implementation, administration, documentation, and communication of comprehensive campus wide programs that promote sustainability (i.e. resource conservation, recycling, and waste reduction).

Coordinate and interact with campus departments that have existing environmental initiatives to enhance those efforts and to share ideas regarding successful initiatives across campus.

Serve as the Public Relations point of contact and work with OSU Marketing and Communications office, as well as other sustainability venues, to increase awareness of OSU’s sustainability initiatives through various media.

Position interacts with campus and off-campus public during normal course of business.

Work may be required outside of normal office hours as needed.

Must use appropriate personal protective equipment when needed and as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.

Required to work safely and promote a safe environment.

The work environment includes time spent in an administrative office in a state-of-the-art thermal plant where periodic loud noise is possible.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or a related field in engineering or a science discipline with an environmental focus.

Must have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Ability to motivate student, staff and faculty groups and individuals to develop, promote and integrate sustainability programming into their activities.

Working knowledge of programs, strategies and technologies to reduce Oklahoma State University’s impact on the environment.

Management of environmental programs and systems.

Good communication skills including technical writing.

Excellent organizational skills; the ability manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.

Proficiency with presentation skills and Microsoft software.

Self-directed performer with the ability to motivate others in various parts of the organization toward improving program performance.

Demonstrated, strong leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Policy or a related field.

In addition to experience required, AASHE STARS reporting experience is preferred.

Sustainability Coordinator

Position Summary: A successful Sustainability Coordinator for Athletics/Alpine Ski coach at Clarkson University will provide effective leadership in providing a vision in athletics to reduce the unit’s carbon footprint. Duties will include serving on the Sustainability Committee, identifying opportunities for the department to reduce travel emissions, and work with the Institute for a Sustainable Environment to identify and quantify benefits from peer-reviewed forest projects to offset emissions from the athletics department’s travel related emissions. This position will also include duties as the Alpine Ski coach who will provide effective leadership in each of the following areas in relation to their sport: recruiting, teaching/coaching, counseling, marketing, alumni relations, fund raising, and sport administration. It will be necessary to prioritize and balance these activities in a manner that best promotes and advances their sport within all Clarkson University, USCSA and NCAA rules and regulations. This is a 10 month position that requires the applicant to reside on campus due to job duties, housing will be provided.

General Purpose: Coordinate and oversee efforts to reduce the athletic department’s carbon footprint and to recruit and teach successful student athletes in the sport of Alpine Skiing that will promote and demonstrate the mission and goals of Clarkson University.

Remote Workdays: This is a full time on Campus position with zero remote workdays.

Position Responsibilities:

Promote the mission and goals of Clarkson University, the Institute for Sustainability, the USCSA, NCAA and the athletic department
Provide a vision, coordinate and implement a strategy across the athletic department to reduce the carbon footprint
Serve on the Universities Sustainability Committee
Identify opportunities for the department to reduce travel emissions
Work with the Institute for a Sustainable Environment to identify and quantify benefits from peer-reviewed forest projects to offset emissions from the athletics department’s travel related emissions
Recruit quality student-athletes who will fit the academic and athletic profile for Clarkson University
Evaluate prospective student-athletes and decide whether they are potential members of the Clarkson University Alpine Ski Team.
Determine a recruiting plan for each academic year to evaluate and recruit student-athletes to Clarkson University
Effectively develop a teaching/coaching plan that best utilizes the strengths (individual and collective) of the Alpine Ski Team
Develop training and race preparation plans
Assist student-athletes with their academic progress by implementing study halls and coordinating with the Student Success Center
Work with the athletic administration to develop appropriate non-conference and conference schedules
Develop a positive image for the alpine ski program through various media outlets
Work with the compliance coordinator to ensure program compliance with all NCAA, league and University rules and regulations
Hire, instruct, and evaluate appropriate support staff (assistant coaches, student managers, volunteer coaches)
Develop and promote community activities including but not limited to summer camps, leagues, or community service activities
Promote the success of the program, department, and university as a primary contact for interested alumni
Effectively manage and balance the alpine ski budget annually
Establish all travel itineraries to away intercollegiate contests
All other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation

Essential Skills: Understanding of carbon emissions and offsets, Quantitative and excel (or similar) skills to create and use appropriate mathematical models, Tactical and technical expertise in the sport of alpine skiing; excellent communication skills; ability to multi-task; must be able to problem solve, suggest and implement solutions.

Education:

Minimal Qualifications: MS with environmental considerations within policy, business or STEM degree

Experience:

Minimal Experience: Previous work with quantitative sustainability metrics; previous collegiate coaching experience. Demonstrated commitment to furthering the goals and objectives of both, the University and Athletics Department, Ability to successfully recruit quality student-athletes, Understanding of the role of the student-athlete in a competitive academic/athletic environment, and Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to a variety of constituency groups. Knowledge of the NCAA Division III rules and regulations

Preferred Experience: At least two years as a collegiate ski coach and an understanding of the trends of sustainability efforts in higher education.
