Sustainability Manager

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading the City of Roanoke’s sustainability, energy efficiency, and climate action initiatives. This position develops, coordinates, and implements policies and programs that advance the City’s environmental, social, and economic sustainability goals. The Sustainability Manager serves as the City’s technical expert and liaison on sustainability and climate initiatives, working collaboratively across departments, with community stakeholders, and regional partners to promote a resilient, environmentally responsible, and livable Roanoke.

Typical Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Public Administration, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.

· Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in sustainability, environmental management, climate planning, or related work.

· Experience in program development, public engagement, and interdepartmental coordination.

· Supervisory experience 3-5.

· OSHA 10 certificate.

· Knowledgeable in regulations (both state and federal)

· Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher)

· Budgeting experience

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in a related field.

Food Waste & Sustainability Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations or designee, the Food Waste & Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the City’s food waste diversion and sustainability initiatives. The position oversees activities funded through the City’s U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) Grant, and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for food waste reduction and recycling programs, manages project budgets, conducts community outreach, and develops educational programs designed to reduce waste generation and increase environmental awareness throughout the City of Stamford.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Provide administrative support and coordination to the Director of Operations or designee on broader sustainability initiatives established in the city’s climate action plan.

Plans, implements, and manages all phases of the City’s food waste diversion programs and SWIFR Grant activities.
Develops and executes strategies to expand food waste collection, composting, and recycling opportunities citywide.
Establishes and manages multiple food waste drop-off sites and pilots curbside collection programs for select multi-family properties.
Coordinates the purchase, installation, and maintenance of food waste composting infrastructure and on-street receptacles.
Monitors and evaluates program outcomes; prepares progress reports, data analyses, and financial documentation for submission to the EPA and City administration.
Prepares and manages project budgets, ensuring responsible allocation and expenditure of grant funds.
Develops and implements public education campaigns, outreach materials, and workshops related to waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability practices.
Recruits, trains, and supervises part-time staff, interns, or volunteers serving as program ambassadors.
Builds and maintains partnerships with community organizations, schools, local businesses, and environmental groups to advance sustainability initiatives.
Identifies and applies for additional grant opportunities to sustain and expand food waste and sustainability programming.
Represents the Department and the City at meetings, community events, and professional conferences.

Energy & Sustainability Analyst

This position will provide key support to the client’s Environmental Sustainability team to track water usage, waste diversion and assist with sustainability initiatives throughout the client’s real estate portfolio. The position will require a demonstrated passion for environmental sustainability and a keen eye for detail.

Job Description

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:

Regularly review utility consumption database by conducting data audits and verification checks
Complete required monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for water and waste data

Resiliency Associate Planner

The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) seeks candidates for the full-time (37.5 hours/week) position of Associate Resiliency Planner within the agency’s Regional Collaboration and Community Planning Department. Sustainability Program Manager

The Position

Under general direction of the City Manager, Sustainability Program Manager is the key staff position leading and coordinating the City’s efforts to become more environmentally sustainable, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthen the community’s resilience to climate impacts. Guided by the 2020 Sustainability and Climate Action Plan, the Sustainability Analyst works with people throughout the City and community to develop and implement policies, programs and practices to reduce the City’s environmental footprint, to conserve and enhance natural resources, and to prevent and adapt to climate change. This position is represented by the Lake Oswego Municipal Employees’ Association/American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Key Responsibilities

Oversee implementation of the City’s Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.
Research, analysis and studies related to implementing sustainability goals city-wide.
Develop policy around climate action goals, facilitate inter-departmental collaboration, and develop and implement projects, including community engagement and education programs, focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing sustainability in City operations, and increasing the community’s resilience to climate impacts.
Prepare and present plans, plan updates, and reports.
Serve as the City’s subject matter expert on sustainability and climate action and present information on waste, energy, sustainability, and climate resilience to staff, management, City Council, and the public. Stay current with regional, state, and federal requirements and guidance relevant to sustainability and climate action.
Manage solid waste franchise and administer contractual obligations, including implementing waste management programs. Coordinate with regional agencies to ensure the City remains in compliance with regional and state solid waste and recycling requirements.
Provide staff support to the Sustainability Advisory Board.
Represent the City with outside agencies and the community groups regarding sustainability programs and initiatives.
Manage projects, monitor progress, and coordinate activities with staff, stakeholders, and outside agencies.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Education and Experience Requirements

Qualified candidates will have broad knowledge of public administration, sustainability, and local government management principals, practices, theories and methods. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities is through obtaining a four-year Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, urban planning, or related field, and working in the field of sustainability for five years. A Master’s Degree in a graduate program in Sustainability or Public Administration is desired. Candidates may also have an equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.

Candidates must have strong MS Word, Excel and other computer application skills. Successful candidates must possess a strong customer service minded skill set, high integrity, ability to work well with varied stakeholders, communicate in a clear, tactful and courteous manner and deliver accurate and timely work product.

Sustainability Analyst

The Sustainability Analyst will work closely with the Global Sustainability Team on all aspects of Samsonite’s global sustainability program. As a Sustainability Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our organization operates in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. This position will have a high potential for internal growth for someone with a passion for corporate sustainability/ESG and a strong interest in working collaboratively with colleagues across a diverse global company. This role requires a combination of analytical skills, environmental expertise, and business acumen to drive meaningful change and achieve our sustainability goals. This role will report to our Associate Manager, Sustainability. This is a hybrid role, we work on site 4 days and remotely 1 day, weekly.

Experience in ESG reporting; data management, including regulatory and voluntary disclosures such as CSRD, ISSB, CDP etc.

Sustainability Coordinator

This position is responsible for the education, communication, planning, and management of sustainability issues on campus and serves in a collaborative process involving students, faculty, staff, and administrators towards making MSUM a more environmentally sustainable campus community, in support of the Sustainable Action Commitment signed by President Anne Blackhurst and Student Senate President Nico Arias in April 2021.

Responsibilities and Results:

1. Promote environmental responsibility and stewardship to campus population, including faculty, staff, administration, and students, as well as the greater Fargo-Moorhead community when appropriate. Collaborate with campus population to analyze and prioritize University sustainability goals. Create and/or participate in various campaigns to promote recycling, save energy, and more. Prepare educational efforts including presentations, university publications, and public relations campaigns. Work with campus marketing to elevate sustainability promotion efforts, including website updates and newsletter maintenance. Design and execute campus sustainability initiatives, projects, and events. Assist the Executive Director of Facilities Management with managing university-wide projects that have sustainability components.

2. Work with campus operations to gather and analyze data related to sustainable operating goals and provide recommendations for achieving those goals. This may include solid waste tracking, carbon accounting, and participating in potential energy savings analysis projects with contractors. Identify methods, technologies, and potential funding sources for projects to pursue waste reduction, energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, greenhouse gas reduction, native landscaping, and water conservation. Identify and work to establish projects on campus that will help reach the University goal of net-zero carbon emissions. Provide energy and other data as requested to Minnesota State System Office. Serve as the Sustainability Lead contact for the Minnesota State System Office.

3. Serve as chair ex-officio of the Sustainable Campus Committee. Facilitate committee meetings, prepare and distribute agendas, meeting materials, and minutes of meetings. Prepare year-end reports, including student fee reviews and budgetary summaries. Coordinate sustainability projects and initiatives with other sustainability-focused committees on campus including the Sustainable Student Association and the Student Senate Sustainability Committee. Advise and participate in other committees on campus, including the Facility, Grounds, and Safety Committee.

4. Seek and pursue opportunities for sustainability educational information dissemination, including University-wide and public engagement. This position may include up to 3 credit hours of classroom teaching in conjunction with the MSUM School of Science, if desired by the employee. Craft creative and engaging topics, lectures, and sessions across campus, and consult on science outreach materials as needed.

5. Seek money to fund proposed sustainability projects and initiatives, including on-campus opportunities and external grants. Assist with identifying and preparing proposals for grants and prospective donors. Recommend compatible ways in which the university and the greater community or region’s sustainability goals can be achieved through partnership with regional events or collaboration.

6. Serve as supervisor for two student interns, including posting available positions, interviewing and hiring, and regular meetings. Students may wish to assist with primary tasks or take on larger projects of their own creation. Host frequent meetings and provide guidance and assistance as needed.

Energy Assessor

We are seeking a skilled Energy Assessor to perform daily residential energy audits in alignment with program requirements and under the direction of the Field Coordinator. This role involves ASHRAE building audits, blower-door testing, Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) testing, data collection, database management, installation of energy-saving devices, and providing customer education while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct residential energy audits using mobile weatherization software, including blower-door testing, data entry, and generating recommendations.
Travel to customer homes, educate customers on energy savings, and complete necessary paperwork using handheld devices.
Install low- and no-cost energy-saving measures and teach customers how to implement them.
Provide customer education to encourage additional energy-saving behaviors and connect them with other service programs when applicable.
Maintain accurate daily inventory of supplies and equipment.
Accurately record audit findings, upload required forms, and communicate project goals to customers and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements at all times.

Qualifications

Coordinator, Sustainability

The National Geographic Society headquarters, based in Washington, D.C., is undergoing a significant renovation project on its campus (called Base Camp), which will be completed in 2026.

The Sustainability Coordinator will support the National Geographic Society’s efforts to minimize negative environmental and social impacts from our building operations, services and products.
The Sustainability Coordinator will report to the Sustainability Director and assist with all efforts to reduce National Geographic’s carbon footprint, produce zero waste, protect resources, and engage National Geographic employees in these efforts, including organizing volunteer Green Team activities.

Home Inspector Specialist – Energy Auditor

As a Home Inspector Specialist – Energy Auditor, you spend your day conducting thorough energy audits and home inspections using BPI methodology. You communicate the work that is being done to homeowners, providing them with outstanding customer service and support. You are responsible for managing your projects and jobs from start to finish. You use a keen understanding of blower door and other auditing equipment as you travel throughout the greater Atlanta area. Your day concludes with detailed, post-work home inspections to ensure everything is done to the highest standard.
