Summary

A corporate-wide position involving integration of sustainability initiatives internally and externally. This position is responsible for analysis, design, implementation and management of existing and new sustainability programs that support business units in a proactive, cost-effective manner that is consistent with NiSource policy and business objectives. Responsibilities encompass a wide-range of sustainability program areas including, but not limited to: RNG, hydrogen, and energy efficiency. This position supports the Your Energy, Your Future (YEYF) strategic framework to ensure the work we do to satisfy future energy needs provides financial, economic, social and environmental benefits to all stakeholders—including our employees, customers and their communities. Through this effort, NiSource will continue to work to identify and drive new decarbonization pathways that deliver affordable, safe, reliable and resilient energy. Additionally, this position will assist in the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance enhancements across NiSource functions and with external stakeholders. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Support the corporate strategy development and planning process by conducting strategic analyses, with an in-depth understanding of industry trends and corporate performance
Promotes and assures safe working environment and public safety

Assistant Professor, Renewable Energy

Terminal degree or Doctorate level in engineering, renewable energy, or Environmental Science.

A candidate may be hired without a master’s degree but will be required to earn a master’s degree no later than four (4) years from their date of hire. Sustainability and Energy Coordinator

Baystate’s Facilities Department is responsible for the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of 4,000,000 square feet of facilities throughout western Massachusetts. Our Planning and Design team provides real estate solutions to enable the delivery of state-of-the-art health care. Overseeing design, procurement, and construction management of numerous projects throughout the system. Our Facilities Engineering teams maintain and operate our facilities and critical infrastructure. This includes energy production and distribution and the optimization of the building systems necessary to improve the health of the people in our community.

Summary:

The Sustainability Coordinator will assist with developing, implementing, and tracking best practices to reduce waste and energy consumption at Baystate Health. The Sustainability Coordinator will track Baystate’s greenhouse gas emissions and implement strategies to reduce those emissions. Assist in implementing energy conservation programs and alternative energy opportunities, including battery storage and alternative power production, and track GHG reduction from Cogeneration operations. The Sustainability Coordinator will assist in the development of a climate resilience plan, sustainable food strategies, waste, and energy reduction and recycling programs.

The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for tracking and analyzing all consumables and waste streams across the Baystate Health System. Consumables such as food, electricity, water, natural gas, as well as waste steam including, solid waste, recyclables, and regulated medical waste. The Sustainability Coordinator will coordinate with individuals across the system to put in place a reporting structure to gather and analyze data monthly. The Sustainability Coordinator will analyze data to identify opportunities to reduce Baystate Health’s impact on the environment and develop goals, set targets, create metrics, and track results.

Job Requirements:

1- Track and analyze energy consumption and pursue all available funding (Eversource, National Grid, MAEVIP, Federal Infrastructure Bill, etc.) for EV chargers and energy conservation programs. In addition, perform the application process for any sustainability related rebate or grant programs, e.g., energy, conservation, and electronic recycling rebates.

2- Coordinate with Hospitality to reduce energy consumption and waste. Strengthen the recycling program. Explore opportunities to reduce food waste and develop menu options that include sustainably raised and locally sourced food. Work with all clinical service lines to identify waste reduction and recycling opportunities.

3- Gather monthly data from various sources across the Baystate Health and business partners, including physical plants, utility companies, food services, clinical areas, Waste Disposal Facilities, and other sources. Regularly analyze data and use it to measure the impact of reduction programs. Create a dashboard to illustrate actual vs. targets.

4- Track steam chilled water and electricity production and analyze energy usage against purchased utility power to determine GHG reductions.

5- Present findings, important information, and implementation strategies to leadership and employees Compose an Annual Sustainability Report. Upload data annually to the Practice Green Health Reporting tool.

Position Summary
A Cultural Resources Technical Lead (hereafter Technical Lead) position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). The Technical Lead will be a key member of a group of interdisciplinary specialists that collect and analyze information and resources regarding potential impacts of climate change on cultural resources to help inform adaptation planning for military installations. This position is located at Colorado State University’s (CSU) main campus in Fort Collins, Colorado. Telework arrangements may be considered but are subject to being modified or discontinued.

As part of an interdisciplinary team of social and natural scientists, this position will provide cultural resources technical expertise to conduct analyses of climate change vulnerabilities of cultural resources. In addition, this position will assist with cultural resources management planning and advise on climate change adaptation strategies. These activities require collection and analysis of large amounts of supporting data and information from complex studies; preparation and review of required documents/reports; interfacing with multiple offices, specialists, and Subject-Matter-Experts. This position will be responsible for developing, reviewing and editing climate change reports and identifying relevant information for integration into Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plans (ICRMPs). As such, excellent scientific synthesis, writing, and communication skills are required.

The Technical Lead will provide technical expertise for the development and review of documents, including ICRMPs, National Environmental Policy Act analyses, climate change impact assessments and mitigation strategies, GIS data/maps, and other cultural resources-related documents. This position will collaborate with Department of Defense (DoD) cultural resources managers to review the goals, objectives, and projects in ICRMPs and develop recommendations that are both scientifically sound and guided by regulations or mission drivers. Therefore, an understanding of cultural resources management on military lands is a critical component of this position.

This position will hire and supervise additional staff, as needed, to complete project requirements. This position will develop timelines to achieve project milestones, assign tasks, coordinate with other planning and climate assessment activities, and ensure that work is completed as required. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the QA/QC of all draft and final deliverables and submitting deliverables to Cooperative Agreement and project points of contact (POCs).
Travel to military installations across the United States to conduct site visits and meet with clientele may be required.

Required Job Qualifications
• Masters Degree in a relevant field (e.g. digital humanities, anthropology, archaeology, history, public history, historic preservation, etc.); OR a Bachelors Degree in one of those fields plus a minimum of three years of professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience carrying out consultation and compliance activities related to U.S. federal laws and regulations that govern environmental compliance, cultural resource management, historic preservation, and tribal consultation.
• Experience analyzing data, formulating and documenting management recommendations, and summarizing technical information for clients and/or the public.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and sponsors, including the ability to effectively lead and coordinate team activities as they relate to project tasks.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and updating cultural resources planning documents, such as cultural resource management plans.
• Experience reviewing the work of others and providing constructive feedback.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications
• Greater than three years’ professional experience in cultural resources management and synthesizing technical information into professional reports.
• Knowledge of and/or familiarity with climate change data and indicators, including review and interpretation of climate change models and assessments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cultural resource issues on U.S. military installations and familiarity with DoD policies and processes related to cultural resources management.
• Experience preparing and reviewing compliance documents (e.g., National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Archaeological Resources Protection Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, etc.).
• Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of cultural resources and professional standards (e.g. archaeological (historic, prehistoric); historic built environment; cultural landscapes; properties of traditional, religious, and cultural significance; curation standards; tribal relations).
• Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems and geospatial analysis.
• Experience reviewing and refining goals, establishing project objectives and timelines, and developing management recommendations.
• Experience using a project management program to develop a projects timeline, assign tasks, and monitor progress.

Sustainability Policy Analyst & Engagement Coordinator

Salary range: $53,940 – $70,000 annualized

This is a mayoral-appointed position in a challenging work environment requiring strong analysis and engagement skills to help coordinate and implement the City’s response to the climate emergency and sustainability. Special focus is on addressing the health and economic impacts of climate change on already distressed populations from COVID-19 and other factors.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Sustainability and focuses on engagement and implementation of the City’s program portfolio for addressing climate and sustainability issues, building on the Climate and Sustainability Framework. The position will focus on the impact of the climate emergency not only on City operations but also the broad community in balancing the City’s shared objectives for a healthy environment, an excellent quality of life, and continued economic vitality.

REQUIREMENTS include:
Graduation from an accredited college or university; preference for concentration in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture or a related field. Ability to communicate in Spanish and GIS skills are a plus but are not required. Experience in outreach and/or organizing is a plus.
Must also possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:Strong knowledge and commitment to tackling the challenges of climate change particularly for vulnerable communities.

Executive Director of Climate & Sustainability

Salary range: $57,188 – $85,000 annualized

This is a mayoral-appointed management position in a challenging work environment requiring strong administrative skills to direct and coordinate resources in addressing climate and other environmental sustainability policies and practices in the City of New Haven. Special focus is on addressing the health and economic impacts of climate change on already distressed populations from COVID-19 and other factors.

This position reports directly to the Mayor and Chief of Staff and will provide a key new role in working not only with New Haven city departments, but also with community members and organizations to help manage a city-wide climate emergency and sustainability portfolio. The position may also report to other individuals in the organization as designated by the Mayor and/or Chief of Staff. The position will focus on the impact of the climate emergency not only on City operations but also the broad community in balancing the City’s shared objectives for a healthy environment, an excellent quality of life, and continued economic vitality.

REQUIREMENTS include:
Graduation from an accredited college or university; master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture or a related field preferred. Two to five years of supervisory experience in a sustainability setting are also not required but preferred. Experience with media and communications strategy is also desirable.
