The Energy and Sustainability Specialist role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for providing operational support and solutions for energy and sustainability projects, initiatives, and daily functions. As a member of the Energy & Sustainability team, this role works under the guidance of the Sustainability Manager to help team members coordinate daily operations and to provide administrative support within the Energy & Sustainability department. The role works cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of associates, leadership, and external partners to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results. This role also works closely with members of the Procurement, Store Maintenance, and other Property Development teams to continually enhance and improve business processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide support around energy projects and sustainability initiatives, including management of retail Energy Management System (“EMS”) platforms.
Track and analyze “Demand Response” performance and operations.
Communicate and address chain wide lighting schedule needs for stores and facilities.
Conduct research for energy and sustainability future business needs and requirements.
Create agendas and itineraries for Energy and Sustainability team events and initiatives.
Support and troubleshoot all EMS inquiries on behalf of the Energy & Sustainability team.
Track inventory, ensure appropriate inventory levels, and manage the shipping and receiving of all EMS materials.
Under the direction of the Sustainability Manager, analyze, develop, and maintain all energy and sustainability projects and programs.
Use a variety of analytical tools and operation platforms to support daily functions.
Work closely with the Sustainability Manager to compile and analyze data in connection with submissions for energy and sustainability certifications/awards, prepare utilities-related reporting, and determine program efficiency.
Partner with the Sustainability Manager, OSJL’s Finance department, and other internal departments to review quarterly and annual utility reporting.
Manage, complete, and track all utility-related transfers for move in and move out of tenants in Company-owned plazas and new stores and properties.
Manage the Energy and Sustainability team’s invoices. Process utility wire transactions twice a week to ensure all utility bills are accurately paid.
Partner with outside utility consultants to pull data off bills monthly.
Coordinate and participate in internal and external user group meetings.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Information Technology, finance, environmental science, environmental studies or related fields is required.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
1 or more years of professional experience in energy or sustainability in retail, property management, construction, manufacturing or related fields is preferred.
Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, and statistical skills are preferred.
Working knowledge of financial modeling, financial reporting, and cash flow information is preferred.
Proficient in MS Excel and Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

Energy & Sustainability Project Manager

The Energy & Sustainability Project Manager, Engineering & Utilities Office – Georgetown University is primarily responsible for managing projects related to the University’s energy infrastructure and facility sustainability goals. Projects and programs shall be managed from the study/concept stage through closeout and turnover to operations and maintenance (O&M) personnel. Scopes of work may range from utility infrastructure renewal to the implementation of processes surrounding water usage reduction and fleet electrification. The person shall provide direction and coordination of project teams composed of non-facilities stakeholders, Georgetown Energy Partners, consultants, contractors, Georgetown O&M personnel, Capital Projects team members, and others. The person will obtain and assist in the solicitation of project approvals from internal University entities, appropriate government agencies, and community interest groups. The person will help track project budgets, schedules, interactions with concurrent projects, quality and code standards, and where applicable – sustainability and Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) targets. The person shall coordinate the completion of study and design reviews supporting projects across campus. The person will conduct or solicit inspections of assigned projects to evaluate program/project performance and confirm the satisfactory progression of work. The person may perform special project activities requiring the application of technical expertise to develop solutions to challenging problems, as assigned. Additional Duties include but are not limited to:

Develop proposals for repair and restoration of energy and sustainable building systems.

Track and execute repairs for energy and sustainability building systems.

Manage assigned energy projects (ECM, lifecycle, expansion) in order to meet regulatory requirements.

Support project close out to ensure long term operational success of energy saving projects.

Develop processes to standardize project management expectations and outcomes.

Work Interactions

This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Energy and Sustainability Programs. Provides project management support under general direction, manages multiple projects concurrently with budget values of $5K to $30M per project, and concurrently manages oversight of Georgetown Energy Partnership-led studies and designs, problem-solving analyses, and reports. Responsible for reviewing and coordinating stakeholder reviews of all relevant designs and studies for adequacy of all aspects of complete design; code compliance, GU standards, and regulatory requirements, where applicable. The position will work with Georgetown Energy Partners to manage project teams and coordinate with internal University stakeholders. The position must hold contractors and consultants accountable for the completion and performance of work as stipulated by the contracted scope of work and schedule.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years’ experience in experience in facilities management, project management, sustainability, or consulting on sustainability/energy activities, operational programs, and facilities improvement projects

Must be computer literate and capable of using programs like Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, effectively

Position is required to carry a smartphone and respond to inquiries as needed (including off-hours if emergencies arise)

In the performance of duties, there is some walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or lifting involved in activities such as conducting on-site field surveys

During field surveys and site visits, the employee may have to walk over or about rough terrain or construction, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend or crawl to inspect or observe situations

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability or project management discipline from an accredited program

Experience in project management within higher education.

State Registration as an Architect, Engineer, or Engineer-in-Training and either LEED accreditation or Certification from the Association of Energy Engineers is preferred.

Experience with CAD, Bluebeam, Smartsheets, Procore, etc. is desirable but not required.

The Energy Team works to track overall energy usage and identify energy-saving opportunities in buildings, implement energy-efficient operations and maintenance (O&M) practices, and oversee the delivery of energy efficiency retrofit projects.

The Energy Project Manager will sit within the Department of Facilities Management which is responsible for keeping all NYPL locations safe, clean, comfortable and welcoming for our patrons and staff. Working closely with the agency energy team, and in close partnership with the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Division of Energy Management (DEM), the Energy Project Manager will primarily be charged with developing and managing the implementation of energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects in City-owned buildings.

We seek a scientist or engineer experienced in solar energy harvesting and catalysis to direct the new Resnick Solar Science and Catalysis Center (SSCC). This individual will play a critical role in defining the scope of the facility and coordinating its capabilities/investments with those in partnering organizations, such as the Liquid Sunlight Alliance. The primary mission of the Director will be to turn the Caltech SSCC into a world-class resource for the synthesis, characterization, and testing of molecules and materials for solar energy harvesting and sustainable catalysis.

This is an Organizational Critical position. An employee designated as organizational critical is expected to report to campus as soon as possible to assist in division/department response and recovery efforts.

Essential Job Duties

Manage day-to-day research activities of the SSCC facility.
Help Caltech scientists and engineers use the facility to solve interdisciplinary problems (including the training of students/postdocs/faculty in various synthetic and characterization methods) involving the study of diverse materials and molecules.
Partner with facility directors at Caltech and outside of Caltech (e.g., at the Liquid Sunlight Alliance, SLAC National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USC, UCLA, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside) to develop synergistic facility capabilities. This will involve the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of a diverse set of instruments.
Conduct long-term original research with the potential for transformative impact that is incompatible within the timeframe of a typical PhD or postdoctoral project. Publish papers and present results of the work at professional meetings and conferences.
Apply for federal and private grants to augment the resources of the SSCC as needed.
Train and supervise a technician or graduate laboratory assistant.
Work together with the RSI Executive Director of Operations and a grants manager on the development of the annual budget for the SSCC.
Participate in RSI workshops and outreach and other outreach activities.
Process and maintain sensitive and confidential information.

Environmental Sustainability Senior Energy Analyst

The Senior Energy Analyst (Environmental Sustainability) is responsible to the Manager of Environmental Sustainability. The Senior Energy Analyst is responsible for monitoring energy usage. The Analyst performs various types of analysis of energy consumption and pricing help understand major drivers of change and potential opportunities for energy-efficient improvements. The Analyst develops and executes strategic plans for the collection, trending, and management of energy and emissions data and will recommend best practices for increasing resilience and reducing emissions across multiple sources. The Analyst will support sustainability initiatives and greenhouse gas accounting and mitigation.

The Senior Energy Analyst will work closely with the FacilitiGroup Environmental Sustainability team and other environmental sustainability stakeholders to research and answer carbon emissions trends and results and to administer and/or perform key internal control activities. He/she also interprets, designs, and develops analysis, to solve complex operational, financial and/or accounting problems relating to the environmental sustainability subject matter.

Sustainability Coordinator (PT)

Energy Manager (Carbon)

Meta’s Global Energy Team is seeking a highly experienced energy professional to negotiate, strategically partner internally, and manage carbon-free energy, engineered carbon solutions, and nature-based carbon solutions for our growing operating (Scope 1 & 2) and Scope 3 footprint.

The Energy Manager (Carbon) will support the continued development and execution of Meta’s net zero strategy centered on system wide decarbonization that supports Meta’s operational objectives and is consistent with the company’s overall strategic priorities.
Energy Manager (Carbon) Responsibilities

Structure and negotiate, and execute new cost-competitive carbon reduction and removal offtake agreements for carbon credits
Develop and negotiate commercial frameworks for Meta’s participation in grid decarbonization projects involving transmission, nuclear, geothermal, utility-scale storage, and other advanced energy technologies, as required
Collaborate with internal organizations including net zero and sustainability, legal, policy, finance and communications to implement carbon solutions
Develop and grow relationships with key suppliers and other stakeholders
Support continued evolution and execution of Meta’s carbon supply strategy for domestic and potentially international operating footprints

Energy Conservation Specialist

The Energy Conservation Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships in addition to focusing on Energy Appraisals and remediation opportunities. This role may also conduct, perform, prepare, and present appraisals, book orders, assist in project execution, and help collect receivables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain customer relationships by demonstrating professionalism in providing excellent customer service through regular contact, prompt, quality responses, and offering client entertainment opportunities
Help to identify and develop new customers and opportunities
Seek and identify appraisal opportunities with new and assigned customers, including mechanical insulation, building envelope, steam trap surveys, and other services

Generate scope of work on a project-by-project basis
Follows up and is familiar with the outcome of all Energy Assessment jobs that are bid
Join industry trade groups and attend trade shows as applicable/approved by management
