Job Summary

We seek a scientist or engineer experienced in solar energy harvesting and catalysis to direct the new Resnick Solar Science and Catalysis Center (SSCC). This individual will play a critical role in defining the scope of the facility and coordinating its capabilities/investments with those in partnering organizations, such as the Liquid Sunlight Alliance. The primary mission of the Director will be to turn the Caltech SSCC into a world-class resource for the synthesis, characterization, and testing of molecules and materials for solar energy harvesting and sustainable catalysis.

This is an Organizational Critical position. An employee designated as organizational critical is expected to report to campus as soon as possible to assist in division/department response and recovery efforts.

Essential Job Duties

Manage day-to-day research activities of the SSCC facility.
Help Caltech scientists and engineers use the facility to solve interdisciplinary problems (including the training of students/postdocs/faculty in various synthetic and characterization methods) involving the study of diverse materials and molecules.
Partner with facility directors at Caltech and outside of Caltech (e.g., at the Liquid Sunlight Alliance, SLAC National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USC, UCLA, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside) to develop synergistic facility capabilities. This will involve the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of a diverse set of instruments.
Conduct long-term original research with the potential for transformative impact that is incompatible within the timeframe of a typical PhD or postdoctoral project. Publish papers and present results of the work at professional meetings and conferences.
Apply for federal and private grants to augment the resources of the SSCC as needed.
Train and supervise a technician or graduate laboratory assistant.
Work together with the RSI Executive Director of Operations and a grants manager on the development of the annual budget for the SSCC.
Participate in RSI workshops and outreach and other outreach activities.
Process and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
Perform other related job duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or related field.
Expertise in synthesis, characterization, and testing of materials for solar energy harvesting and catalysis.
Expertise in setting up new analytical instruments and troubleshooting their use.
Drive to learn new approaches in solar science and catalysis research to keep the SSCC facility state-of-the-art.
Experience in training and mentoring students, and other researchers.
Ability to work well in a collaborative way with different individuals, including research and administrative staff.
Ability to coordinate with the directors of complementary Caltech facilities.
Strong writing and speaking skills, including success in applying for federal grants.
Creativity and high scientific standards (both rigor and ethics).
Attention to detail and good time management skills; must have the ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask.

Experience with in situ and operando spectroscopic characterization.
Experience with tabletop X-Ray sources for materials characterization.

Environmental Sustainability Senior Energy Analyst

The Senior Energy Analyst (Environmental Sustainability) is responsible to the Manager of Environmental Sustainability. The Senior Energy Analyst is responsible for monitoring energy usage. The Analyst performs various types of analysis of energy consumption and pricing help understand major drivers of change and potential opportunities for energy-efficient improvements. The Analyst develops and executes strategic plans for the collection, trending, and management of energy and emissions data and will recommend best practices for increasing resilience and reducing emissions across multiple sources. The Analyst will support sustainability initiatives and greenhouse gas accounting and mitigation.

The Senior Energy Analyst will work closely with the FacilitiGroup Environmental Sustainability team and other environmental sustainability stakeholders to research and answer carbon emissions trends and results and to administer and/or perform key internal control activities. He/she also interprets, designs, and develops analysis, to solve complex operational, financial and/or accounting problems relating to the environmental sustainability subject matter.

Sustainability Coordinator (PT)

Saint Mary’s College of California invites applications for part-time Sustainability Coordinator position (15 hours per week) to join the Office of Sustainability. These positions will work closely with the Office of the Provost and other campus leaders to advance environmental sustainability initiatives across the College. The ideal candidates will contribute to the development and execution of the College’s sustainability goals, focusing on reducing the environmental impact of campus operations, engaging the campus community in sustainability efforts, and supporting educational programming.

Serve as the main point of contact for faculty, student groups, and community partners using the garden for instruction, service, or research.

2. Supervision of CCAC Fellows

Supervisory responsibility for the next cohort of California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) Fellows, in collaboration with our partner organization, Bay Area Community Resources (BACR). For the 2025–26 service term, BACR has confirmed funding through AmeriCorps and has approved our program to host three fellows. The selected candidate will provide ongoing mentorship, support, and guidance to these fellows, including:

This supervisory role is integral to the success of our sustainability initiatives and supports a collaborative, high-impact service learning environment.

3. Student and Faculty Engagement

Facilitate sustainability-focused student leadership opportunities and coordinate involvement in garden and campus-wide projects.

Provide support to faculty and staff seeking to integrate garden-based or broader sustainability concepts into courses, programming, or operations.

Help manage communication channels to engage the campus community in sustainability events and learning experiences.

4. Sustainability Program Support

Assist in the design and implementation of campus sustainability initiatives, such as waste diversion, energy reduction, and sustainable food practices.

Collaborate with departments and student organizations to promote sustainable behaviors and campus culture shifts.

Support the planning of outreach campaigns, themed events, and co-curricular programming.

5. Data Collection and Reporting

Assist with the collection and organization of sustainability data related to energy, water, waste, and garden production.

Energy Manager (Carbon)

Meta’s Global Energy Team is seeking a highly experienced energy professional to negotiate, strategically partner internally, and manage carbon-free energy, engineered carbon solutions, and nature-based carbon solutions for our growing operating (Scope 1 & 2) and Scope 3 footprint.

The Energy Manager (Carbon) will support the continued development and execution of Meta’s net zero strategy centered on system wide decarbonization that supports Meta’s operational objectives and is consistent with the company’s overall strategic priorities.
Energy Manager (Carbon) Responsibilities

Structure and negotiate, and execute new cost-competitive carbon reduction and removal offtake agreements for carbon credits
Develop and negotiate commercial frameworks for Meta’s participation in grid decarbonization projects involving transmission, nuclear, geothermal, utility-scale storage, and other advanced energy technologies, as required
Collaborate with internal organizations including net zero and sustainability, legal, policy, finance and communications to implement carbon solutions
Develop and grow relationships with key suppliers and other stakeholders
Support continued evolution and execution of Meta’s carbon supply strategy for domestic and potentially international operating footprints

Energy Conservation Specialist

The Energy Conservation Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships in addition to focusing on Energy Appraisals and remediation opportunities. This role may also conduct, perform, prepare, and present appraisals, book orders, assist in project execution, and help collect receivables.

Senior Renewable Energy Specialist

The Senior Renewable Energy Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and closing renewable energy transactions for the Global Energy & Sustainability Team’s ongoing renewable energy initiatives. Apple is a global leader in corporate renewable energy, and our worldwide facilities have been powered by 100% renewable electricity for several years. With Apple’s commitment to complete carbon neutrality across our entire product lifecycle by 2030, we have much more work to do. The Global Energy & Sustainability Team is focused on building a portfolio of renewable energy projects to address Scope 3 emissions tied to global Apple device usage.

We require an experienced renewable energy professional to help us source, structure and negotiate deals on a global basis, conduct due diligence, bring them to close, and ensure they meet Apple’s high standards of financial and technical performance, as well as our environmental and social impact. The role requires deep collaboration with a broad range of Apple departments including finance, tax, corporate procurement, legal, government affairs, marketing and communications, environmental technologies, supply chain clean energy program, and the environment, policy, and social initiatives team.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs), investments, utility transactions, renewable energy certificate (REC) and tax credit purchases, and other typical renewable energy contract structures. Our Scope 3 emissions are dispersed throughout the globe, and our renewable energy needs are similarly diverse. Global experience is desired, and frontier market experience will be a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in finance, economics, engineering, or other relevant field with 10+ years of global experience focused on renewable energy transactions, project development and electricity markets.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong experience sourcing, negotiating, and closing renewable energy transactions globally.
Deep knowledge of renewable energy development, including solar, wind and battery storage technologies, environmental permitting, interconnection, and risk mitigation.
Experience with a wide range of contract structures, including power purchase agreements, tax equity and equity investments, renewable energy credit purchase agreements, utility green programs, and others.

Sustainability Field Specialist

To support our growing Sustainability work, we are looking for an experienced Sustainability Field Specialist to join our Sustainability team. The Sustainability Field Specialists are responsible for working directly with DFA members and regional staff to advance on-farm sustainability initiatives and manage regional program implementation with a focus on greenhouse gas reduction, soil health, water quality, renewable energy, workforce development, and environmental reporting.• In addition, the candidate will help identify customer cost-share and grant funding opportunities to help incentivize farm participation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage on-farm sustainability project implementation across assigned geographies

Share information with farms on greenhouse gas mitigation activities and other environmental improvement opportunities that will maximize overall farm profitability, agronomic productivity, and/or carbon credit generation

Communicate grant and cost-share funding opportunities to farmer-owners made available from customer collaborations and/or governmental programs

Conduct environmental data evaluations and advise/consult with farms on interpreting results for their local context

Identify farms for sustainability projects and assist with data collection including farm demographic data, soil samples, etc.

Coordinate with internal DFA teams including DFA Farm Services departments like Farm Supplies, Agronomy, and Energy, and Area Membership / Field Staff teams. This role will also work closely with Technical Service Providers and may help represent DFA farmer-owner interests to external regional partners.

Coordinator (Sustainability)

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is seeking a Coordinator (Sustainability) to join the Sustainable Coordination team.

The selected candidate will support the agency in planning and implementing sustainable, resilient, and equitable design and construction. PlaNYC 2023 has set social, economic, and environmental objectives to ensure the sustainable future of New York, while preparing for climate change and reducing our impacts. Advancing the division’s sustainability goals will include a mix of data analysis, creating tools and guidelines, conducting workshops and presentations, and coordinating with internal and external entities.

In addition, the Coordinator (Sustainability) will assist with Envision project certifications thru Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). This position requires work with a variety of project stakeholders including engineers, architects, landscape architects, operators, and community boards where excellent communication and client service skills are required. The selected candidate will also assist with analyzing Infrastructure design and master planning for sustainable design and help develop policies to support design excellence; assist in identifying risks and design issues for various infrastructure projects; assist with the division’s varied portfolio of capital projects; and maintain and update the agency’s database on Infrastructure projects use of various sustainable features.

Lastly, the candidate will support projects throughout the scoping, design, procurement, and construction phases; utilize the agency’s technical resources to ensure that their projects meet DDC’s Commitment Plan objectives; apprise their supervisors of scheduling, construction, and design issues; liaise between contractor and DDC; maintain comprehensive project history files; and coordinate project schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited college or university,
accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in landscape architectural work; or

2. A valid New York State Registration as a Landscape Architect.

Sr. Sustainability Coordinator

The primary purpose of the Sr. Sustainability Coordinator role is to support sustainability initiatives at Fortis jobsites, work collaboratively across other Fortis teams to provide sustainability education and support, and manage the reporting of Fortis’s data center clients’ sustainability requirements under the direction of the Senior Sustainability Manager.

Support Fortis construction teams in delivering client-driven sustainability initiatives – including measuring jobsite emissions, construction waste management, lower carbon construction materials, and other.

Manage sustainability reporting requirements for large scale data center campuses, ensuring data is collected, QA’ed, and reported in a complete and timely manner. Includes construction waste, water, energy, and embodied carbon.

Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of Fortis jobsite and company-wide sustainability standards for carbon, water, materials, and wellness.

Build relationships with site teams and other Fortis team members to vet sustainability initiatives on projects.

Support LEED construction credit documentation process for relevant projects.

Support sustainability proposal language development with an understanding of clients’ sustainability goals.

Support project interviews and business development efforts.

Implement trade partner training and data collection processes for project sustainability goals and requirements.

Mentor and support newer team members, helping train them on Fortis sustainability initiatives and navigate the different teams at Fortis.

Research strategies to lower Fortis’s overall environmental footprint and reduce wasteful practices.

Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position’s and team’s objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years of experience in a relevant sustainability or construction role.

Knowledge of green building and/or ESG standards (LEED, Living Building Challenge, CDP Reporting, EcoVadis, SBTI, etc.).

Ability to work independently and operate as a peer leader in a team environment.

Ability to work successfully on a construction jobsite with site teams and subcontractors.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Fortis policy.
