Director Power Marketing – Renewable Energy

I. Job Summary

The Director of Power Marketing for WM Renewable Energy will manage the off-take from WM Renewable Energy’s power fleet, maximizing revenues for energy, capacity, and renewable energy credits.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Leadership:

Commercial management of WMRE’s portfolio of power assets.

Works with WMRE senior management to establish strategy and direct resources as appropriate.
Develop strong relationships internally with key WM stakeholders as well as WMRE Operations teams.
Executes agreed-upon sales, and hedging strategies while managing the risk around WMRE’s power portfolio.
Leads a small team of 3-4 Power employees. Responsible for growing, coaching, directing and motivating them to be successful.
Works closely with WM and WMRE functions in plant operations, compliance and regulatory to establish, manage and monetize the inventory available for sale.
Experienced in the marketing of RECs, Capacity and Electricity.
Experience with energy transaction I.T. systems and platforms like Nymex, ICE, Nodal as well as Over-the-Counter transactions.

Day-to-Day activities:

Manage / Supervise Day Ahead & Real Time activities at various ISO’s.
Negotiate Power Purchase Agreements.
Manage EMA service provider(s).
Complete implementation and roll out of ICE and NODAL platforms.
Manage WM Renewable Energy’s Renewable Energy Credit (REC) book.
Implement and optimize the power hedging strategy of WM Renewable Energy’s merchant fleet.
Seek out opportunities to bid new and existing capacity into utility RFP’s.
Work proactively with WM Procurement to lower power costs for the WM Renewable Energy RNG fleet.
Monitor and respond to all ISO/PUC regulatory requests.

Intern, Energy Efficient IAQ

The primary project of the School Energy Efficient IAQ Intern will be assisting with analysis of the responses to a national School Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality (EE IAQ) Professional Development Needs Survey. Responsibilities include:

Analyze survey data using multiple criteria, as agreed upon with supervisor (e.g. respondent role, geographic location, etc.)

Experience & Experience Requirements:

REQUIRED: Undergraduate or Graduate students whose studies and research interests include green building, environmental health, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, K-12 school operations and facilities, or another relevant field. Relevant coursework or experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, synthesizing information, and summarizing technical findings is particularly important.

Candidates should be currently enrolled in a college or university. At least four years of study at a college or university is preferred.

Associate Climate Analyst

The Associate Analyst, Climate plays an essential role on the Sustainability Team with a focus on producing and maintaining a high-quality greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, advancing the Company’s emission reduction goals and contributing to a best-in-class climate program. With Eversource’s ambitious goals to reduce GHG emissions and achieve related goals aligned with the state policies and regulations in the region, this position will be responsible for consolidating source data, completing calculations both manually and using GHG management software consistent with the GHG Protocol and industry best practices, performing robust data quality checks, effectively managing complex datasets, and assisting with the reporting of this data internally and externally to stakeholders. By engaging functional groups across the organization, this role will support the continuous improvement of our GHG data collection processes and controls in an effort to optimize efficiencies and data integrity.

The Associate Climate Analyst will also play a key role in strategic climate management projects such as coordinating with dedicated working groups to plan and execute emission reduction projects, conducting climate scenario assessments, developing low carbon transition plans, and maintaining our GHG Inventory Management Plan and other documentation. This position will also support the preparation of climate data and information for key disclosures such as Eversource’s annual Sustainability Report, an enterprise-wide Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Plan, and ESG rater responses such as MSCI, Sustainalytics, TCFD, CDP, and others. This position will play an integral role in advancing Eversource’s industry-leading sustainability initiatives and ensuring the Company maintains a strong position as a climate leader.

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.

Essential Functions

Work cross-functionally to gather and analyze data, complete calculations and validations using spreadsheet-based and GHG management software-based methods, and maintain a robust database for Eversource’s GHG inventory
Maintain comprehensive process documentation including a GHG Inventory Management Plan
Identify opportunities and lead the execution of streamlining data processing, validation, and disclosures
Support the development, adoption, and maintenance of software and tools that support the management of GHG data and relevant reports and dashboards that track performance

Job Description

Serve as technical and EHS expert for customer on hazardous waste and DOT regulations

As technical expert for the customer, provide consultation on best known practices for appropriate disposition of all types of waste.

Plan and schedule scrap/waste shipments at customer site, to ensure internal deadlines are met

Ensure shipments are completed in a compliant manner (e.g. all items packaged, marked and labeled properly, paperwork meets regulatory requirements, proper DOT transporters are utilized). Ensure all local, State, and Federal requirements are adhered to.

Assist with waste characterization of various waste streams

Work with on-site teams daily to monitor waste and recycling programs and maintain swaps and pickups as needed.

Work with customer teams on special projects as needed.

Participate in weekly team planning calls; benchmark and share experiences with other program managers at similar customer locations.

Participate in customer calls and meetings as necessary for implementation of onsite program.

Maintain and update shipments in company systems for forecasting and billing purposes. Collaborate with customer service, billing and operations teams to ensure seamless customer experience.

Resolve site-level vendor and customer issues that may arise. Address issues in a professional manner with appropriate root cause analysis and corrective actions.

2. GHG Emissions Reduction Initiatives

Solid Waste & Recycling Coordinator

The Solid Waste & Recycling Coordinator will work under general supervision from the Manager, building services, to coordinate the collection, sorting and disposal of recyclable and refuse materials for the PSU campus. Be prepared to perform skilled and semi-skilled work involving the manual collection, separation, and shipping of recyclable materials collected from the University. Supervise the PSU waste and recycling program, including adjunct and student employees. Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
Working directly with Department Leaders (VP and Director level) on complex business issues
Developing and presenting recommendations to Senior Executives on opportunities
Building Executive level PowerPoint decks and presentations; presenting to upper level management; strategic and financial analysis; analytical and quantitative skills with spreadsheets or other quantitative modeling
Understanding environmental sustainability goals, priorities, key trends, and issues
Working in the airline or transportation industry
Planning and modeling greenhouse gas emissions/ decarbonization and sustainable aviation fuel deal
