About the Sustainability Coordinator Role
Supports WMSS onsite program, including manual labor associated with drum movements within the facility, drum bulking, drum crushing, assisting when extra personnel are needed, and other duties as assigned. This is an entry level, non-supervisory position focused on hazardous and non-hazardous waste related projects.

Hours: 6:30am – 3:00pm M-F

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

Identify best practices that assist customers in reducing waste volumes, increasing operational efficiencies, identifying optimal equipment usage and generating cost savings.
Segregate, label, mark and package waste materials in a safe and compliant manner.
Collect, pour, transfer, consolidate, repackage and package solid, liquid & sludge material.
Perform labor intensive activities such as container or drum collection, drum bulking, sorting trash for recyclables, and loading of trucks.
Transfer waste into containers of different size.
Provide labor support at 90 Day Hazardous Waste Pad, when applicable.
May provide support or direction to less experienced Technicians.
Wears required personal protective equipment.
Participates and cooperates in safety process, including following written procedures, attending required training and scheduled meetings.
Immediately reports any unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries or property damage to supervisor.
Follows Environmental and Quality Management System (ISO 14001/9001) policy, procedures, and operational controls related to job responsibilities.
Maintains compliance with applicable environmental, safety and transportation regulations (EPA, OSHA, and DOT).

Support the execution and identification of projects aimed at reducing scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
Assist the regulatory affairs team with supplier compliance.
Respond to customer requests related to sustainability data collection.
Complete reporting for extended producer responsibility and other plastics-related regulations for Nature’s Touch.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical leadership in HVAC design optimization, energy modeling, and decarbonization analysis, collaborating with architects, engineers, and building owners to support sustainable strategies.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies or design strategies and deliver innovative solutions to client energy goals while maintaining implementable and operable designs.
Support a team of energy modeling experts and building energy auditors following ASHRAE standards including lifecycle cost and economic viability analyses of energy efficiency measures.
Understand sustainability certification programs such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, Green Globes, and Passive House and articulate the MEP impacts of each to architects and owners.

Zaro Waste Coordinator

The Gorge Amphitheater is seeking a Zero Waste Coordinator to help us take our sustainability programs to the next level. This role is the backbone and driving force behind Live Nation’s resource recovery and circularity program and is responsible for ensuring maximum landfill diversion during event waste sorting, educating both fans and staff, and supporting your Venue Sustainability Manager’s efforts contributing to the venue sustainability culture. This position will work under the Venue Sustainability Manager and be part of the venue operations team. Coming into 2024, The Gorge Amphitheater is setting new targets to become an industry leader in zero waste. Meeting this goal will be a priority task for the Venue Sustainability Manager, and therefore all the Zero Waste Coordinators at this venue. This is a seasonal, part-time position for show days. Hours per week will vary depending on show schedule and business needs at the time.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

Participate in Zero Waste Coordinator on-boarding training.

Assist in the mid- and post-show waste sorting process of all recycling, composting, donations, and landfill materials.

Be available to work show days and non-show days to ensure all waste is sorted and diverted.

Relay boots on the ground observations to guide areas of improvement and overall program development.

Contribute ideas to improve material circularity based on most commonly seen items in the waste stream.

Assist the Venue Sustainability Manager with educational support to all crew members and fans.

Maintain a clean sorting area and support the post-show pick after each event, which will occasionally result in scheduled shifts occurring on days after a show.

Support compliance with local environmental policies and mandates.

Other tasks as assigned by the Venue Sustainability Manager on an as-need basis.

Assistant Professor – Urban Sustainability and Constructed Ecologies

The Department of Landscape Architecture (DLA) at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) in Syracuse, NY seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. SUNY ESF is home to a research cluster that supports transdisciplinary innovations in Urban Sustainability. The successful candidate for this position will become a member of the DLA faculty and also participate in this interdisciplinary initiative. We are seeking a new colleague whose scholarship can contribute to, and be enriched by, the College’s unique environmental science mission. Relevant areas of expertise include specializations like climate-adaptive design, urban ecological design and forestry, landscape performance, and design with plants, soils, and landscape materials. We are especially interested in candidates whose work uses an urban sustainability lens to examine and understand implications of systems-based interventions in landscape architectural practice, site design, and the ecology of the built environment.

Our department is home to two accredited landscape architecture programs (Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and Master of Landscape Architecture). The successful candidate for this position is expected to teach courses in the professional curricula, especially courses such as landscape construction or others in the ecology and technology sequence, and studio courses. Clean Energy Operations Intern

Silicon Valley Clean Energy is seeking a Clean Energy Operations Intern to support SVCE’s wholesale power procurement, planning, and operations department in developing an intranet site for the department using Monday.com (no coding experience required) and creating digital resources highlighting the most important information the team needs to complete our work. The intern will work with each team member to understand the work SVCE does to procure clean and renewable energy, to manage existing contracts, and to plan its clean energy portfolio. Contract management experience

Management of multiple medium to large-scale projects, ensuring successful execution from planning through completion

Job experience in the following areas is strongly preferred:

Experience managing capital and O&M budgets

Asset management experience, including use of asset management software such as Maximo

Ability to interpret operational data – PI or OIS experience a plus

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&ID drawings, single lines, etc.)

Ability to develop and communicate Key Performance Indicators to internal and external stakeholders

Other relevant experience includes:

Power plant design and construction

Generation development

Utility system planning
