Environmental Intern

Job Summary

This internship will have the unique opportunity to gain experience within several environmental focus areas including habitat restoration, water quality, clean air and climate, remediation and resiliency planning.

The intern will perform a variety of duties that include, but are not limited to, stewardship maintenance activities at the Port’s habitat mitigation sites, updating GIS data, reviewing grant applications and environmental projects, supporting community engagement, conducting research and data entry.

Additionally, the intern will gain an understanding of compensatory mitigation including how to calculate mitigation costs, permitting and habitat construction and initiatives to clean up contaminated land, improve water quality and reduce emissions. The position will have the opportunity to participate in community engagement efforts for the Clean Air Implementation Plan update and at other community events.

This internship is expected to start on or around June 1st for up to 3 months.

Hours will be Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week between 8 am and 5 pm.
Essential Functions

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited school, college or university. Coursework and interest in environmental studies, and related fields is preferred.

Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Strong oral and written communication skills. Intern will be working outdoors and should be comfortable working in inclement weather and walking over uneven terrain.
Required Education and Experience

All individuals offered an internship must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Proof will be required prior to starting.

The successful intern must possess (or obtain within 30 days of employment) a valid driver’s license.

Sustainability Intern

Job Description:
Under direction of the Sustainability Outreach Coordinator and Deputy Director, incumbent supports sustainability education and outreach for residents, businesses, and city employees over the course of a summer internship. Assists in facilitating and promoting city-wide sustainability initiatives with a focus on contributing editorial content to the SLCgreen blog and attending community tabling events.

Position Hourly Range:

$18.00/hr

Key Responsibilities:

Assists with all aspects of marketing and outreach related to the Department’s programs and mission.

Researches and writes articles for the SLCgreen blog covering a wide range of sustainability and environmental topics.

Assists with content creation for SLCgreen website and social media.

Serve as a primary point person for staffing the SLCgreen booth during community tabling events (several events per semester in Fall and Winter/Spring. Tabling becomes the primary focus of the internship in the Summer program).

Assists the department with intercept surveys related to the City Climate Plan.

Analyzing, recommending changes, and developing creative outreach material to promote sustainability initiatives with different audiences

As needed, intern may also undertake a research project for the Department. This includes designing, developing, and conducting research, determining appropriate methodology, information sources, sampling strategies, and data-collection tools.

Writes or drafts technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis.

Performs communication and research activities by utilizing computer software.

Other tasks as assigned and as based on student’s background, academic goals, and interests.

Internship, Air Climate & Control

Ramboll is accepting applications for the Summer 2025 internship program at our office located in San Francisco, CA. Each participant will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through project assignments. The program will provide internship participants with the opportunity to gain experience working in one or more practice areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads and manages the Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) team, providing direction, oversight, and professional development.
Develops and implements sustainability initiatives that align with McKinney’s strategic priorities, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and measurable outcomes. Projects may include resource conservation, recovery and efficiency, improved quality of both natural and built environment, and climate resiliency and adaptation.
Performs goal setting and long-range program planning for municipal sustainability. Works with staff to create and improve programs and provide professional and technical assistance to other city departments, divisions, and outside organizations.
Facilitates inter-departmental and -divisional collaboration on sustainability projects by developing and managing a citywide sustainability working group.
Collects, manages, and analyzes complex datasets to track key sustainability indicators, measure program outcomes, and establish annual performance targets; develops action plans to address unmet needs and ensure progress toward sustainability goals; prepares reports, studies, and surveys using statistical data to create engaging visual storytelling that informs decision-making and highlights program success.
Collaborates with city departments and divisions to identify and help integrate sustainable practices into municipal and community operations; fosters and coordinates new ideas and concepts for systems level approaches to identify materials and resources to supplement, expand, or replace existing policies and programs related to sustainability; aides in the creation of ordinances and ordinance revisions.

Utility Energy and Conservation Analyst-2

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is seeking an ambitious Utility Energy and Conservation Analyst-2 (UECA-2) to conduct duties within the PUC’s Bureau of Technical Utility Services (TUS). TUS UECA-2s work with senior staff and management on the review, processing, and analyzation of reports and filings of electric utilities, all with the goal of ensuring the utilities are providing reliable service at a reasonable cost. UECA-2s review and evaluate the filings submitted by fixed utilities related to energy. Sustainability Program Manager

Serves as the department point of contact for outreach and sustainability issues, represents the SWMP on County teams and serves as the agency’s lead on zero waste, sustainability, and outreach.

Develops and manages sustainability, zero waste, and outreach programs for SWMP. Leads sustainability projects and programs within the community. Oversees training and education opportunities for compliance with county, state, and federal law regulations including but not limited to sustainability, engagement, recycling, composting, and etc. Maintains statistical and budgetary records pertaining to the agency’s outreach and sustainability programs. Engages in community, both commercial and residential, outreach and develops solid waste outreach guidelines, style guides, and copy. Aids in developing and maintaining SWMP’s social media presence and coordinates with Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) Public Information Officer for distribution and messaging.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in fields related to the assigned functional areas; plus five years of professional work experience within more than one of the assigned functional areas.

Senior Climate Scientist

The Senior Climate Scientist will provide intellectual leadership to expand the capacity of MethaneSAT to produce high-precision CO2 flux data products that can be applied to urban and natural systems. Reporting to a Lead Senior Scientist, the Senior Climate Scientist will work with EDF scientists and external partners to develop, evaluate, and implement new algorithms to derive CO2 flux data from MethaneSAT, and evaluate test cases for potential policy-relevant insights about fine-scale spatio-temporal differences and trends in CO2 emissions.

Key Responsibilities

Provide intellectual leadership and coordination for research projects involving the production and use of new CO2 flux data products from the MethaneSAT mission.
Remain current with applications of satellite data for targeting and tracking global decarbonization efforts and relevant scientific literature.
Synthesize and communicate insights from recent literature to a multi-disciplinary project team, including EDF scientists, policy experts, and corporate and community partnership specialists, as well as external partners.

Experience generating and working with satellite data products, understanding of greenhouse gas emissions from urban areas and natural systems a plus.

Sustainability Coordiantor

Summary: Under basic supervision, manages and promotes sustainability initiatives within Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) in the Housing Operations division .The Sustainability Coordinator is accountable for, and will direct, PHA’s internal efforts to promote the “Sustainable” initiatives and serve as the agency representative and spokesperson advancing sustainability and environmental initiatives. This position will ensure that all sustainability related activities are carried out in ways to support PHA’s sustainability goals and applicable federal laws and regulations.

Intern, Sustainability Design

Intern Position Summary:

EVgo is looking for a Sustainable Design Intern to support the design engineering team developing our next generation EV charging equipment. We are seeking an intern who is passionate about sustainable design and materials selection. The ideal candidate will have strong sketching and presentation skills and will seek unique sources of inspiration to generate and share ideas for us to continue to push the envelope in this space. This role will be on-site at our new headquarters in El Segundo, CA where the intern will help us establish EVgo’s design studio and materials library.

This internship will be 10-weeks, 40-hours per week.

Responsibilities:

Support the EVgo design team as we envision the physical identity of our next generation EV charging equipment
Help establish definition of the color, material, and finish (CMF) of the EV charger with particular focus on sustainability and renewability
Take initiative to explore unique sources of inspiration
Work with suppliers to source material samples for a material library in our new design studio at our new headquarters in El Segundo, CA
Assess material selection in terms of sustainability, manufacturability, and design aesthetics

Required Skills and Experience:
