Sustainability Intern

U-Haul Corporate Sustainability is seeking a Spring Semester Intern who will assist our team in a variety of research, communication, and data processing duties. The candidates must be organized and possess excellent time-management skills. Quality candidates will be detail-oriented and capable of accurately sorting and recording large amounts of data using Microsoft Excel, proficient in MS Office Suite and SQL query applications. Strong communication skills are required as the intern will be speaking with U-Haul Field teams and outside vendors. All U-Haul staff are team players who go out of their way to support each other.

The intern may work in any or all of the following areas:

Research various transportation, energy, construction, and urban planning-related topics to support U-Haul Chief Scientist.

Execute and oversee projects related to energy, water, and waste conservation within the U-Haul system.

Assist with energy benchmarking submissions using Energy Star reporting platforms.

Assist local team members with compliance on local retro-commissioning and building performance ordinances.

Update/process Sustainability Grant data.

Audit completed grants for data errors and correct where appropriate.

Collect data from winning vendor bids, input into Excel and/or Grant Tool.

Follow up with grant requestors regarding completed projects to gather information.

Hours per Week: 20-25

Renewable Energy Education Facilitator

POSITION SUMMARY: This limited term position will work to complete federal National Science Foundation grant activities by coordinating programming to meet the grant requirements. Activities include using renewable energy occupational knowledge to coordinate training for college and k-12 partners; engage with community organizations working with underserved populations to provide renewable energy education events; prepare and report on grant activities; serve as Co-PI for grant. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

Summer 2025 Diversity in Clean Energy Internship-Advocacy

NRDC is seeking a summer advocacy intern to work with the E2 team. Strong preference for candidates who live in or near cities where NRDC offices are located (NYC, Chicago, Washington D.C) so that they can work in offices 8 days per month.

The intern will work with E2 staff from across the country to develop, execute and support initiatives to advance current clean economy initiatives and policies. They will also help expand and amplify diverse business voices in support of these efforts. This is a full-time, paid internship that will run for 10 weeks from June through August 2025.

Residential Sector Lead

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) is seeking an experienced professional to oversee and manage the organization’s growing portfolio of residential initiatives that address whole house savings opportunities as well as key end uses including HVAC, water heating, envelope, and appliances. The position is an exciting opportunity to help influence the evolution of demand side programs that actively support customers in their journey to manage energy wisely, including specifications that serve as the basis for 25C tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act. This individual will champion the strategic vision for the Residential Sector, enlist active engagement of leading professionals in CEE’s suite of Residential Committees, assess major industry related developments and recommend associated action, manage strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders and members, and. Areas of potential in-depth focus include cutting-edge energy efficiency and load management solutions that benefit all customers, reduce carbon, and improve the reliability of energy delivery systems. This position supervises a team of four professionals and reports to the Deputy Director.

The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated track record of successfully leading a group of multifaceted energy efficiency program professionals in the development and implementation of forward-thinking action with strategic impact. The working environment is collegial, collaborative, and proactive; and the ability to effectively nurture strategic alliances and partnership with key stakeholders is a must. Responsibilities

Identify, develop, manage and report on all work areas within the Residential Sector, in support of the organization’s mission and the needs of its membership. The position currently supervises four direct reports, including one Senior Program Manager, two Program Managers, and a Program Associate.
Support business strategies for advancing the market of connected and efficient equipment as part of a comprehensive strategy for smart homes and buildings. Specific areas of concentration may include heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), water heating, and home energy management (HEMs).
Develop reports, studies, memoranda, position papers and other professionally written deliverables in support of organization and member needs. Own responsibility for the management of all sector deliverables including internal or external communications of those deliverables, for example, Forum pages, specifications, program guides and summaries, etc.
Manage strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders and members. Enlist the active participation of leading individuals in CEE’s Residential committees, which may include raising funds for supplemental projects.
Conduct research, data collection, and analysis on topics such as energy savings potential for connected and efficient solutions, effective program design and delivery approaches, impact of design and installation considerations, unique partnerships across industry stakeholders, and market barriers to product adoption.
Assemble consensus positions to develop recommended strategies for driving the uptake of high-performance solutions that deliver energy efficiency and load management impact.
Represent the organization and its work in multiple venues including: trade shows, industry conferences, government or regulatory interactions, conferences or meetings with advocacy groups, and other nongovernment associations meetings. Maintain and enhance the CEE role as a credible source for efficiency program information for members and industry.

Environment

Work is done primarily on computers, looking at screens for 6+ hours of the workday. Director, Dairy Sustainability

Chobani is seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Dairy Sustainability to lead and develop our on-farm dairy sustainability program. This role is integral to our company-wide carbon reduction strategy and sustainability program. The individual will be responsible for assessing Chobani’s current farm and cooperative network and creating a comprehensive program that emphasizes carbon and methane reduction while addressing nutrient and soil health, animal welfare, farmer livelihoods, biodiversity, water conservation, and other critical factors. The role will partner with procurement to adapt our sourcing strategy over periods of time.
Responsibilities

Program Development:

Develop and support the implementation of Chobani’s on-farm dairy sustainability and regenerative agriculture program, prioritizing carbon and methane reduction.

Climate Change & Sustainability Specialist (Decarbonization & Buildings)

ICF is at the forefront of preparing leading-edge analyses, identifying viable market solutions, building real-world management tools, and implementing programs to account for and manage carbon emissions, and decarbonize our economy. Our team works with all levels of government, multilateral institutions and commercial clients to develop emissions inventories and carbon footprints; conduct greenhouse gas mitigation policy analyses; implement climate-related policies and programs; develop climate action plans and sustainability strategies; and support organizational sustainability.

We are seeking a Decarbonization Specialist who will be responsible for supporting ICF managers on projects related to GHG inventories and reductions and decarbonization and sustainability planning. Projects will range from technical, data-driven analyses to writing reports for general audiences to supporting external workshops and communication activities. Environmental Professional

As an Environmental Professional at Rhode Island Energy you will perform environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, environmental assessments and develop pollution control programs for Company facilities and operations. Duties include performing assignments that are broad in nature and moderately difficult under minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

Reviews and analyzes existing legislation/regulations and provides input to management.

Support environmental spill response and clean-up throughout the service territory and on-call emergency storm restoration as needed. This may be a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

Supports the environmental permitting and plans necessary to support the construction and operations of sites and facilities.

The Energy Efficiency Program Associate will assist our Energy Efficiency Program Implementation Team in the delivery of a variety of programs. The work will entail contributing to the success of energy efficiency programs implemented by:

Representing Frontier Energy and its utility clients positively and professionally to all program participants, including homeowners, tenants, property owners, contractors, and public service agencies;
Entering and reviewing data and documentation submitted as part of energy efficiency incentive applications;
Determining whether energy efficiency measures qualify for incentive funding;
Working with the broader implementation team to document processes and decision-making criteria relevant to each program/measure;
Interacting with various program database applications to identify projects ready for review and moving projects toward completion;
Conducting outreach to customers to schedule on-site or remote inspections, and interacting with customers and clients politely and professionally; and,
Additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Prior knowledge and/or experience in building energy and/or energy efficiency concepts and measures.
Associates degree or higher.
Verbal fluency in Spanish and English. Written fluency in English.
