With the passage of the 2022 Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Bond Act, Green Buildings have been identified as an eligible use of a portion of the bond funds. As such, the planning and engineering analysis associated with readying existing buildings is expected to increase. NYSERDA’s Efficiency Planning and Engineering Team engages the commercial end user market, associated stakeholders and the engineering and architecture firms serving this market to advance investment in decarbonizing existing buildings. NYSERDA is seeking an individual to support the design, uptake, and success of its Technical Services programs. The successful candidate will work with the team to effectively track, process, manage and report out on project and program successes. They may also manage projects, may supervise the work of the contracted resources.

The Efficiency Planning and Engineering team’s portfolio of programs currently includes the FlexTech Program, On-Site Energy Manager Program, Clean Green Schools Initiative (for P-12),Campuses (for Higher Education), and Hospitals.
Primary Responsibilities

Support comprehensive business process development for new initiatives as well as business process refinement for existing initiatives
Work with the team to identify and create appropriate tracking and reporting of project and program metrics
Involved in processing applications and program related documents through NYSERDA’s internal tracking systems (ex. NEIS, Salesforce, tableau and excel files)
Identify and pursue opportunities for program(s) improvement
Engage with leading market stakeholders including vendors, and customers to understand their ability to utilize NYSERDA guidelines for participation

Sustainability Analyst

The Sustainability Analyst will play a key role in Stanford Medicine Children’s Health sustainability strategy by supporting the development and implementation of projects, programs, policies, and budgets related to sustainability. The Sustainability Analyst will support efforts related to climate action and resilience planning, building decarbonization and electrification, green building and energy efficiency, waste reduction, and alternative transportation. This role will utilize technical expertise and knowledge of sustainability standards to: collect, calculate, model and report sustainability data; create and update sustainability content for educational and outreach materials; and work with internal teams to pursue opportunities to reduce the environmental impacts of our facilities.

The Sustainable Fashion Program Lead position is a dynamic role within Conservation International’s Sustainable Fashion program. This role will focus on several programmatic areas, primarily acting as technical lead for the program on topics such as climate, nature and biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, and materials innovation related to multiple sectors in fashion and textiles.

This is a leadership role that will be external-facing and rely on a candidate’s strong ability to articulate their strategic vision and enable collaboration to drive impact at scale. This position will lead key partnerships and initiatives within the fashion and textile industry as well as participate in multistakeholder working groups to drive sectoral transformation. This will include the delivery of existing projects with leading fashion and textile organizations focused on Tier 4 (raw material production).

The role is responsible for ensuring the Fashion team’s project portfolio and key initiatives, such as the Regenerative Fund for Nature, align with industry-leading standards, regulations, and frameworks. This will include working with the broader internal Regenerative Fund for Nature team on piloting frameworks in field projects as well as designing new landscape-level investments in cotton, wool, cashmere, and leather aligned to best practices.

Another key component of the role is corporate advisory including the design and implementation of projects with fashion and textile companies leading on climate, nature, biodiversity, and regenerative agriculture in partnership with the Moore Center for Science and other technical experts within the Center for Sustainable Lands and Waters.

This position is within the Sustainable Fashion team and works closely with the Conservation Stewards Program, Moore Center for Science, Conservation Finance Division, and Brand Partnerships teams. The Sustainable Fashion team sits within a dynamic and growing Center for Sustainable Lands and Waters (CSLW). CSLW works to introduce scalable, sustainable development initiatives that align community, policy, and market-based incentives at the global, regional, and local levels. Focus areas include the implementation of community-based incentives, freshwater conservation, and efforts to improve the sustainability of key commodities, including coffee, palm oil, soy, tuna, and shrimp.

Duties are diverse and include designing and implementing strategy, project management, donor engagement, technical thought leadership, and fundraising. RESPONSIBILITIES

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Develops and delivers dynamic commercial energy efficiency programs, focusing on serving small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This role conducts technical and financial analyses on commercial, industrial, institutional, and multifamily residential buildings to identify energy efficiency and decarbonization opportunities for current and potential customers. This individual is responsible for promoting the company’s Commercial Energy Services programs to achieve annual goals for participation, natural gas savings, and energy efficiency improvements. A significant focus will be placed on engaging with SMBs, business associations, design professionals, and collaborating with contractors. Additionally, this role will provide project management support for energy efficiency projects at SMBs. • Work closely with SMB owners, business associations, and local contractors to identify opportunities to implement energy- and cost-saving measures. Provide technical expertise on HVAC systems, building codes, energy efficiency, and gas technologies relevant to SMBs.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with SMB associations, industry partners, chambers of commerce, and local trade organizations to promote energy efficiency programs. Identify opportunities to expand partnerships and enhance program visibility within the SMB sector.

• Provide project management support for SMB energy efficiency projects, ensuring smooth coordination between contractors, design professionals, and business owners. Support project timelines, budget management, and successful completion of efficiency upgrades.

• Perform market segmentation analyses to identify target business sectors and value propositions for the delivery of energy efficiency programs. Create or adapt energy-saving tools and software for new technologies, focusing on the unique needs of SMBs.

• Actively participate in local and regional business networks, energy efficiency organizations, and trade associations to advocate for high-efficiency equipment and technologies. Work with partners to develop engagement approaches and energy savings calculators relevant to SMBs.

• Assist Energy Management team leadership in evaluating the effectiveness of energy efficiency programs for SMBs. Provide recommendations for program improvements and ensure that projects align with both regulatory requirements and the evolving needs SMBs.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE?

• Minimum qualifications: associate’s degree, and 2-3 years of general experience in business, aptitude for learning, able to identify opportunities and provide management support.

• Preferred qualifications: a bachelor’s degree, and 5+ years of experience in business, project management, or engineering, preferably through past work supporting businesses with energy efficiency projects.

Coasts and Climate Graduate Student Internship

The Surfrider Foundation seeks to identify a graduate student for the Dillon Henry Memorial Internship for the summer of 2025. The intern will receive a $7,500 stipend payment to defray living expenses. This internship will be remote and include regular zoom meetings and conference calls (plus additional remote, fun activities planned with other Surfrider graduate and law student interns).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position’s responsibilities include providing policy research support to Surfrider’s Coasts and Climate initiative. The intern will be supervised under the direction of Surfrider’s Sr. Manager, Coasts and Climate initiative.

Responsibilities include:

Contribute to Surfrider’s annual assessment of state coastal resilience policies:
Primary responsibilities include: conduct policy, law and legislative research and analysis on state laws, rules, and regulations related to sea level rise planning, coastal hazards, development, sediment management, and coastal armoring.
Produce written content for Surfrider’s Coastal Blog and other communication platforms on climate change and coastal policy issues.
Assist Surfrider staff in the development of policy documents, comment letters, and verbal testimony.
Assist in the development of state directed coastal policy memos.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Currently enrolled in a graduate program focused on coastal policy or environmental management.
A passion to address climate change and its impacts on U.S. coasts.Knowledge of local, state, and national coastal and ocean policy with an emphasis on the Coastal Zone Management Act.
Experience conducting thorough research projects, literature reviews, and policy analysis.
Ability to translate complex policy and law findings into common language.
Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work independently.
Proficient with Google Docs, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
The intern’s completion of the internship must result in academic credit.
