The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and promoting sustainability initiatives, particularly in the areas of the built environment, energy, solid waste/recycling, water, and alternative transportation. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Sustainability.

Responsibilities

· Develop and implement strategies to enhance sustainability across RTI’s real estate portfolio

· Manage existing and new initiatives to promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable transportation

· Identify opportunities to incorporate environmentally-preferrable materials and practices into building design and operations

· Monitor environmental performance metrics and track progress towards RTI’s sustainability goals

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of experience, Master’s degree and 0 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prepare, process, and review CEQA/NEPA compliance documents and related technical studies, ensuring inclusion of SCE scope and sufficiency of environmental analysis.
Clearly communicate environmental strategy, policy, and compliance requirements to internal and external stakeholders for infrastructure project planning, permitting, and construction.
Maintain an understanding of CEQA and NEPA, including staying up to date on case law to accurately advise internal client organizations.

The essentials

Seven (7) or more years of experience in environmental, land—use, and/or long-range planning or environmental compliance and permitting.
Experience with Federal (NEPA) and state (CEQA) environmental law/process, as well as other relevant laws and regulations.

The preferred

Bachelor’s degree or higher in urban planning, environmental studies, or related subject area.
Three (3) or more years of experience with regulatory compliance and permitting such as CEQA/NEPA, Endangered Species Act and Clean Water Act, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) General Order 131-D, for a variety of development projects.

Postdoctoral Fellow – Climate Change Impact on Birds

The Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management in the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Oklahoma State University invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow.

Position Description
Funding is available for a two-year postdoctoral research position to work with Drs. Craig Davis and Scott Loss in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management (NREM) at Oklahoma State University. This position is funded through the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (SC-CASC) and will address research questions related to the impacts of climate change on migratory waterbirds and wetland habitats in the U.S. Great Plains region. The postdoc will lead work that expands on our previous research evaluating effects of changing precipitation regimes on wetland extent and migratory shorebird habitat use in the Great Plains. Specifically, the postdoctoral fellow will: (1) leverage existing datasets on waterbird habitat use and movements to project climate change effects on habitat for multiple groups of migratory waterbirds (e.g., ducks, geese, cranes); (2) help coordinate a survey study that evaluates perceptions about climate change and climate change adaptation practices among multiple stakeholder groups (state/federal biologists, Tribal nations, NGOs, private landowners); and (3) disseminate decision support tools that stakeholders can use to prioritize wetland management strategies that increase resilience of wetlands and waterbirds to climate change.

Well-qualified individuals with a strong quantitative modeling background, experience working with large data sets, and research interests in climate effects on avian species and their habitat are encouraged to apply. Experience with social science surveys is also beneficial but not required. In addition to collaborating with Drs. Davis and Loss, the postdoc will collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team that includes: Dr. Omkar Joshi (a social scientist in NREM); 1-2 OSU graduate students funded on the same project; ecologists with U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, North Dakota State University, Kansas Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Research Unit, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville; and project stakeholders and partners with a variety of state, federal, and tribal agencies.

Salary Information
Salary for this postdoctoral fellow position is $60,000/yr plus benefits excluding retirement; funding is also available for travel to meet with collaborators and present at scientific conferences.

Sustainability Specialist – Facility Carbon Reduction

Job Purpose

As an influential member of the Corporate Sustainability team, the Sustainability – Carbon Reduction Specialist leads internal stakeholders in executing the organizations goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2050. This encompasses collaborating with and coaching multi-skilled, interdepartmental stakeholders such as Facility Leadership, Service Delivery leads, HSE Professionals, peer Sustainability team members, and business leaders in the domain of energy and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction, including but not limited to energy product and facility footprint modelling calculations, Life Cycle Analysis, GHG inventories, resource consumption and waste streams. This also includes supporting the identification of improvement opportunities, including Weatherford’s road map to Net Zero, as well as supporting our customers in attaining their climate goals.

New England Renewables Environmental Sciences and Planning Lead

The primary duties of the New England Renewables Environmental Sciences and Planning (ES&P) Lead are capturing and managing projects in the renewables and energy space. This will involve identifying and pursuing opportunities to support new and existing clients in the planning, development, design, permitting and optimization of their renewable energy systems and portfolios and serving as a project manager on select projects. Responsibilities for this position will include client management, business development and serving as a technical consultant and/or project manager for projects in the solar, wind, offshore wind, battery storage, and microgrid markets.

Inform and implement HDR’s regional renewable market strategy. Lead and/or participate in local, regional and national HDR renewables planning meetings to identify target markets and clients.
Identify and pursue project opportunities to deliver a variety of HDR services in the renewable energy market including consulting, permitting, siting, and planning.
Partner with the North East Power Business Development Leader and Business Group Managers to identify and support capture of target clients and champion existing clients.
Partner with the North East Renewables Practice Lead to support and provide technical content for environmental aspects of pursuits and delivery of projects for preliminary design, detailed design, owner’s engineering, and construction oversight.
Serve as a Project Manager and/or Client Manager and be responsible for the coordination, quality, and timely completion of projects. This includes preparing scopes of work, budget estimates, and independently coordinating work assignments of multi-discipline professional staff to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.
Work with Project Accountants and Area Business Group Managers for internal project reviews with company management as needed.

Director of Corporate Sustainability

The Director of Corporate Sustainability will be responsible for the coordination of DU’s rapidly expanding private sector business portfolio across the organization. Reporting to the Managing Director for National Sustainability Programs, the Director of Corporate Sustainability will support the organization’s fundraising efforts and the onboarding and stewardship of DU’s large corporate and institutional donors. This position must work closely with appropriate DU staff and volunteer leaders to ensure DU is maximizing opportunities to leverage sustainability outcomes to further the organization’s mission.

The Director of Corporate Sustainability will also:

Manage and support sustainability prospect development processes.
Maintain prospect criteria and prospect lists and own the process and verification of moves management for Development.

Program Officer

The Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), founded in 1991, is a climate organization with a mission to create equitable climate change solutions worldwide. We do this by forming collaborative, people-focused partnerships that support communities disproportionately impacted by the global climate crisis. For over 30 years, ISC has utilized a unique, bottom-up approach to ensure solutions emerge from within communities rather than being imposed outside. Our projects focus on disinvested communities throughout the world, with specific attention paid to the impact systemic racism and gender inequity have had in communities, workforces, and industrial sectors as they move toward a just transition.

What you will do:

The Program Officer supports the design and implementation of equitable resilience and sustainability programs and projects that advance and accelerate equitable climate solutions. Working across a variety of U.S geographies, the position supports locally-led solutions that tackle immediate challenges while strengthening communities overall. Examples of current ISC programs include: the Partnership for Resilient Communities, Urban Equity Climate Compact, and other ISC initiatives. Vantage is seeking a Vice President of Sustainability to play a pivotal role in advancing and pushing forward the existing global program and building upon it to embed it in the core of how we develop and operate. Vantage has made several public commitments towards reducing the environmental impacts of our facilities and continue to find ways expand upon those to truly encompass the broadest range of opportunities to positively impact the environment and communities in which we operate. The successful candidate will drive the improvement of global strategies that can be regionally adapted and implemented to support our commitments and company goals. It is crucial for the candidate to lead through influence, fostering matrixed cross-functional relationships while ensuring accountability for progress against sustainability commitments and requirements, both internally and externally.

Ability to effectively convey complex subjects into actionable initiatives along with effective roll-out and implementation through creation of training and educational content and collaborator engagement with teams throughout the organization is also a vital part of what success. Use of data to drive strategy is critical to ensure strategies fit within our business model and are sustainable from a long-term growth and profitability perspective. Partnering with the Innovation and Onsite Power teams to find the intersection of R&D opportunities that can reduce carbon emissions through alternate or new and emerging technologies will continue to position Vantage as a thought and industry leader.

This position will be based on-site at our office in Denver, CO.

Essential Job Functions

Lead the development/enhancement and prioritization of short, mid, and long-term strategic sustainability goals

Advance Vantage’s global sustainability initiatives by overlaying business intelligence with telemetry to aid the continuous improvement of strategic vision, measurement, implementation, and reporting.

Build and manage reporting frameworks to drive an action-based culture from development through operations and program level telemetry to cultivate visibility of progress towards year over year targets

Lead the yearly GHG reporting for both internal and external consumption

Support teams serving our customers to help them achieve their sustainability goals through a wide range of verticals including clear reporting, renewable energy, conservation and reduction of energy/water/waste

Duties

Lead a dedicated team of sustainability professionals in defining and translating strategy to tangible initiatives and programs supporting reduction of GHG, energy, water and waste

Build relationships with customers to support their sustainability initiatives and take advantage of opportunities for collective action on shared priorities

Develop processes, standards and tools to enable New Site Development, Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams to successfully execute critical initiatives in line with target parameters

Find ways to embed triple bottom line approach to company goals around sustainability, and all the areas within the business in which it intersects and overlaps

Provide clear reporting to various partners in the business for internal and external consumption

Work across multiple teams to Identify and evaluate efficiency and sustainability improvement opportunities

Partnering with Sales and Power Infrastructure teams to build renewable energy programs, both for Vantage and for our customers

Define and develop carbon removal program as well as strategies for renewable energy procurement and hedging strategies that overlay supply/demand dynamics as we get closer to 2030.

Collaborate with global engineering team to define sustainability performance- based requirements to ensure new facilities across Vantage’s portfolio meet or exceed near-term and long-term targets

Be Vantage’s evangelist for sustainability partnering with marketing and internal communications; expanding the presence and written resources across internal SharePoint sites, Vantage’s external website and social media platforms.

Push forward strategies to reduce carbon footprint, energy and water usage and reduce waste through increased recycling, education and awareness

Define and roll out corporate policies on sustainability partnering with Operational Compliance team

Find opportunities to positively impact sustainability within Vantage’s corporate offices

Support Public Policy in outreach initiatives to local municipalities, utilities and sustainability coalitions (i.e., the Data Center Coalition) to bring Vantage to the table as a partner and active participant in the marketplace

Job Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Arts in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Engineering, or equivalent experience required, master’s degree preferred

7 years of experience leading corporate sustainability programs required, 10 years preferred at a global, high-growth organization

Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required

Experience with carbon accounting using GHG protocol, developing renewable energy projects, and building carbon reduction programs required

LEED accredited professional preferred

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to partner cross functionally to solve complex challenges

Travel required is expected to be 10 to 15%, but may increase over time as the business evolves

Director of Sustainability

Responsibilities include:

Lead our Sustainability program, including ensuring a Sustainability vision and mission for Fortive that reflects our Shared Purpose and Values. Ensure a high-level strategy, updated as appropriate, exists to support that vision. Conduct Materiality Assessments, as necessary, incorporating “Double Materiality” philosophies.
Lead our efforts, in collaboration with OpCos and functions, on public Sustainability disclosures including the annual Sustainability Report, CDP and other disclosures. Continue and strengthen alignment to recognized reporting frameworks including, but not limited to: GRI, SASB, TCFD, UNGC and others. Help improve Sustainability scores from external ratings providers. Assist the Legal and Finance teams with respect to compliance with SEC climate disclosure rules, CSRD and related disclosure requirements globally.
In collaboration with the Sustainability and Tax teams, oversee the operation of The Fortive Foundation, including its mission, giving strategies, relationships with key charitable partners, gift giving, employee and community relations, and employee matching programs.
Oversee Fortive’s achievement of its stated environmental and climate-related goals, including GHG emissions reduction goals and water reduction goals, in addition to future goals as they are implemented. Oversee the process for operating companies to receive corporate assistance in Sustainability projects. Assist in approving project proposals, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and integration with other initiatives.
Serve as a member of Fortive’s EHS Leadership Council as the internal leader and “go to” expert for Sustainability, monitoring emerging trends, programs and issues, and communicating and educating others on Sustainability topics.
Serve as the central point of contact for interfaces with stakeholders on the topic of Sustainability, including investors, employees, customers and others.
Foster a culture of Sustainability through ongoing organizational communications, engagement, and education. Create and implement communication strategies to publicize the company’s Sustainability efforts and promote broad awareness of Sustainability initiatives, both internally and externally.
Offer expertise and provide leadership-level support for initiatives to reduce company-wide resource consumption and waste generation.
Provide support and guidance to Product Design teams through Life Cycle Assessments, Sustainable Design, and other considerations to develop and implement strategy towards greater energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact of operating company products and services.
Build effective partnerships with external organizations to support Sustainability efforts.
Oversee development and implementation of Climate-risk strategy that incorporates qualitative and quantitative climate scenario analysis. Conduct Sustainability-related risk assessments.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Sustainability team. Oversee multiple concurrent initiatives across various segments of the team’s focus. Prioritize team members tasks and maintain a clear understanding of project importance to drive efficiency and effectiveness in Fortive’s sustainability endeavors.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelors Degree.

Experience: 10+ years of experience, either through outside consulting, internal corporate positions or a combination, in designing, implementing and promoting corporate Sustainability programs.

Sustainability Assistant (Part-Time)

The City of Hartford is seeking a part-time Sustainability Assistant to facilitate and administer community projects related to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in the community. The Sustainability Assistants will report to the City’s Sustainability Director in the Office of Sustainability and Office of the Chief Operating Officer. The Sustainability Assistant will support a variety of activities related to the implementation of the City’s Climate Action Plan, City Plan and much more.
Part-Time Sustainability Assistant Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour

Under general supervision, plans and executes departmental projects and initiatives. Evaluates projects for improvement. Performs outreach under the direction of City staff and/or contractors; outreach locations may include Neighborhood Revitalization Zone meetings, local events, farmers markets, community centers, online, and more. Conducts research on various topics relating to sustainability and energy efficiency. Supports project managers, as needed, including on procurement-related matters (i.e. RFPs, contracts) or other duties. Supports the Office’s fundraising, grant writing and grants administration efforts through research, writing and other tasks. Updates communications materials, including, but not limited to, flyers, website content, videos, champion profiles, and social media posts. Supports City staff in meetings with notetaking, agenda development, adherence to legal reporting requirements, and technology logistics for online meetings. Identifies and recommends proposals of new sustainability initiatives. Communicates with residents, nonprofits, government agencies, and foundations. Promotes the culture of sustainability by identifying methods for maintaining sustainability performance. Incumbent(s) may be required to perform additional related duties.
