Position Overview:

This full-time position works with the Climate Action Collaborative (CAC) for the Eagle County Community and the Sustainability Programs Department at WM to attain greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals set forth in the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community. The CAC Coordinator plays a key community outreach role working with the CAC Manager and partners of the Collaborative including local governments, businesses, schools, nonprofits, utilities, and Eagle County residents to make continuous improvements on reducing metric tons of CO2e annually to align with the carbon emission reduction goals in the Climate Action Plan. The CAC Coordinator will be working to support the general administration of the Collaborative and further supportive efforts such as research, outreach, and program delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support for the Climate Action Collaborative in achievement of CAP Goals:

  • Attend, participate in, and take notes for each CAC Board meeting, stakeholder meeting, active sector group meeting, and other sector committees that may form in the future. In addition, support the CAC Manager in creating presentations, agendas, and other meeting materials to ensure successful and action-oriented meetings.
  • Prepare and send annual data requests to Collaborative partners for Climate Action Plan implementation tracking metrics. Analyze year-over-year data trends to effectively understand, communicate, and make recommendations on CAC successes and areas for improvement. Work with CAC Manager to compile annual Impact Report to Collaborative partners to be delivered in Q3 each year.
  • Research on identified topics to support policy or program implementation that support specific CAP goals and CAC initiatives.
  • Support outreach efforts related to CAP goals and Climate Action Collaborative Partner programs including but not limited to events, newsletters, email correspondence, in-person outreach, training, newspaper columns, etc.
  • Support implementation of ongoing Behavior Change Campaigns which target individual behaviors in the community that have the biggest impact on local carbon emissions.
  • Work with CAC Manager and WM marketing department to implement a communications and outreach plan that recognizes successes of CAC members and aligns outreach efforts with achievement of Climate Action Plan goals.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with CAC stakeholders and board members in order to successfully partner on programs, projects, and policies that reduce emissions.

Work Environment:

The CAC Coordinator works in a variety of settings, but primarily indoors. The work environment is predominantly located on-site at the Borgen Precourt Center for Sustainability in an open office environment. The CAC Coordinator will also spend a portion of time out in the community for meetings with partners. Offshore Wind Communications Manager

The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) is committed to advocating for policy that meets the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges. We are recruiting an Offshore Wind Communications Manager to support the New England for Offshore Wind (NE4OSW) coalition and launch a Local Communications Program that will provide training, capacity, and support for offshore wind messaging in key local areas.

General Description:
The Communications Manager drives the growth of local community messaging in support of responsibly developed offshore wind energy facilities in the Northeast. They develop relationships with NE4OSW’s most engaged partners and recruit new partners in key local communities to enable crucial positive messaging on offshore wind. Climate and Sustainability Manager

The Brooklyn Office is seeking a Climate and Sustainability Planner to help prepare the city for a changing climate, advance grant studies related to stormwater and flood resiliency, and support land use planning and policy studies and their related outreach and engagement processes. Under supervision, with some latitude for exercising independent judgment, the planner will:
– Help develop neighborhood- and borough-wide stormwater resiliency and planning grant studies, with a particular focus on South Williamsburg and Coney Island;
– Advise the Brooklyn Office, Executive Staff, and the City Planning Commission on issues of climate, sustainability, resiliency, and stormwater management;
– Coordination with local, state, and federal agencies, with particular focus on NYS DEC, NYC DEP, DDC, DOT, OEM, and other capital agencies, and the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice;
– Engagement with neighborhood, borough, and citywide community, advocacy, and non-profit organizations centered on resiliency, sustainability, and emergency preparedness;
– Represent DCP at meetings of civic, business, and community groups, community boards, elected officials, and public agencies, and help organize and lead discussions at public meetings;
– Develop technical documents and presentation materials including reports, maps, graphics, memos, and other forms of correspondence;
– Support neighborhood, borough, and citywide plans to address the challenges the city faces, including OneNYC, the ten-year Comprehensive Waterfront Plan, the Coastal Zone Management program, and other sustainability plans;
– Develop a working knowledge of waterfront and stormwater planning and policies, including city-led land use and zoning studies, and community-led initiatives within the floodplain;
– Research topics related to stormwater and flood resiliency, climate change, sustainability, and best practices in infrastructure design and planning; and
– Develop our understanding of emerging topics in climate, stormwater management, flood resiliency, sustainability, and waterfront planning.

The selected candidate should possess a combination of technical and land use planning skills, an ability to translate technical information into plain language and communicate complex policies, excellent project management skills, public presentation and facilitation experience, an interest in architecture, urban design, and community-based planning, have an affinity for public service, and wants to make New York City a more equitable, resilient, and livable place.

To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:

A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. Environmental Project Manager

MARC is seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Environment Project Manager. This position will initially be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a three-year federal grant from the US Department of Energy to assist nonprofit organizations with energy conservation improvements to buildings they own and utilize to serve disadvantaged persons and families.

This project manager will be the lead staff person responsible for management and implementation of a three-year federal energy conservation grant supporting non-profit organizations. The project manager will work with a team of other MARC staff and external community partners.
What you’ll do

Support an outreach effort with partner organizations to make eligible nonprofit organizations aware of the program and encourage them to submit applications.
Work with Climate Action KC/Building Energy Exchange to host a series of educational webinars and workshops on energy conservation measures, energy audits and needed workforce skills.
Work with project partners to support a new Community Advisory Board to assist in finalizing selection criteria and selecting nonprofits to be assisted through the federal grant.
Work with engineering firm and Metropolitan Energy Center partners for their support in completing energy use baselines and energy audits for each selected nonprofit organization’s building.
Work with MARC staff to prepare subrecipient agreements with nonprofit organizations selected for assistance, determine what technical support is needed.
Work with engineering firms to support preparation of bid documents for selected energy conservation improvements, and support nonprofit organizations as needed in the procurement of contractors and suppliers and in the measurement of energy savings and emissions reduction.
Work with MARC staff and engineering firm partners to review invoices for reimbursement to nonprofit subrecipients for energy improvements prior to payment.
Work with MARC staff and external partners to prepare communications and reports for DOE and other stakeholders.
Work with program partners to disseminate information about program impact to stakeholders and plan and offer showcase events with sub-recipients.
Work with MARC team members to submit regular reports to the US Department of Energy.

Skills you’ll need

Basic requirements

A bachelor’s degree in planning, engineering, architecture, construction management or building science, facility management, or a related field.
A minimum of two years of progressive, related work experience is required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a post-secondary degree.
Prefer individual with project management experience, and Project Management Certificate (PM) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED or another similar credential would be a plus.
Experience with clients, including local governments or non-profit organizations, to address facility needs, particularly in areas of energy conservation.

Essential Job Duties

Manager of Building Decarbonization

ASHRAE has an immediate opening for a Manager of Building Decarbonization. This manager will support the activities of ASHRAE’s new Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization. This is a new position at ASHRAE which will have the opportunity to help shape the society’s decarbonization strategies. The position reports to the Director of Technology and is ideally based at ASHRAE Global Headquarters in the metro Atlanta area. A remote position could be considered if the candidate is willing to travel as needed.

Sustainability Program Coordinator

The Sustainability Program Coordinator assists Housing Authorities with access to programs that improve environmental sustainability, resiliency, and the living environment for the state-funded public housing portfolio which serves approximately 75,000 residents, in 43,500 units, in 234 communities. These programs align with the Bureau of Housing Development & Construction’s capital planning and improvement program for the state-supported public housing portfolio, which is run by a team of 30 with expertise in architecture, engineering, project management and construction.

The Sustainability Program Coordinator will work closely with EOHLC staff, including the Sustainability Program Developer and members of Architecture and Engineering Services Unit (AESU), Project Management Unit (PMU), and Construction Management Unit (CMU), to ensure that projects funded with Sustainability funds meet the stated goals of the project. The Coordinator tracks projects and Sustainability funding to ensure it is spent in a timely manner and appropriate to the goals of the program.

They work with Local Housing Authorities (LHAs), to connect them with resources and to manage projects and grants. The Coordinator works closely with Regional Capital Assistance Teams (RCAT), both remotely and in the field, to disseminate climate policy, to educate about available resources, to answer technical questions, and to make recommendations for the capital planning of projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE):

1) Budgeting:

· Assist the Sustainability Program Developer in collaborating with housing authorities, RCATs and EOHLC staff to implement an annual budget for capital projects that result in energy, greenhouse gas, and other environmental resource conservation, increased resilience to climate change hazards and vulnerabilities, and improved air quality and healthy living environments. Be aware of and adhere to the needs of budget alongside ecological performance, supply chain management, and carbon footprint reduction.

2) Resource Conservation:

· Support housing authorities in their utilization of the Low-Income Multi-Family utility energy efficiency program and any other potential sources of energy efficiency retrofits at low or no cost, or through rebates to the LHA.

· Assist in the implementation of resource-conserving programs, resiliency programs, air quality/healthy environment programs, and other environmental impact programs.

3) Training:

· Assist the Sustainability Program Developer in conducting trainings, forums and workshops for division staff, housing authority, regional agency staff, and residents, as appropriate. Respond to and/or refer inquiries about the programs, about other outside resources, and about state and federal environmental statutes and regulations.

4) Research:

· Assist with research and review of comprehensive environmental, social, regulatory, technical and economic issues for all conservation and environmental projects and develop and implement strategies to share relevant research and findings with stakeholders.

· Assist in seeking out opportunities for renewable energy use, including securing subsidies for same. Facilitate the installation of renewable technologies at housing authorities and work with other state agencies [Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC)] and partner organizations to take advantage of programs & rebates available for sustainable technologies.

· Assist in seeking out opportunities for increased resilience to climate change hazards, including securing subsidies for same. Facilitate the installation of materials and technologies at housing authorities.

· Assist in seeking out opportunities to improve air quality and healthy environments in public housing, including securing subsidies for same. Facilitate the installation of materials and technologies at housing authorities.

5) Program Development & Evaluation:

· Promote and help develop the programs’ strategic plan and the metrics to measure the success and environmental impact of the programs, including coordinating and analyzing data/data tables, and recommending present and future practice while considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, adoption and sustainment.

6) Document Preparation:

· Prepare reports, executive briefings, proposals, recommendations, guidance materials and tools, and presentations to advance sustainability, resilience and healthy environments in public and rental assistance housing. Maintain and create online content. Implement benchmarking, guidelines, and measurement protocols and tools. Track cost savings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Extensive knowledge of, and relevant experience and expertise in topics of sustainability, resilience and healthy environments, including leading practices and trends.

2. An ability to function semi-autonomously as a self-starter, utilizing innovative and open-minded approaches, for the purpose of educating stakeholders about program objectives.

3. An ability to think strategically, take the initiative and execute agreed-upon strategies in order to define program objectives, evaluate progress and independently manage projects from start to finish.

4. An ability to utilize innovative thinking and creative problem-solving in order to develop new investments and strategies to address challenges for the program.

5. Demonstrated proficiency with computers and computer programs, particularly Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).

At Cooper Carry, the Sustainability Analyst focuses on the execution of data-driven sustainable design practices, assistance in pursuance of Green Building-Rating Certifications, and building performance analyses under the direction of the Project Architect, Project Manager or Principal, as appropriate. The Sustainability Analyst is expected to integrate information and prepare coordinated documents under the direction of the architecture team and Sustainability Lead. This role requires the ability to work independently and multi-task among projects while elevating the standard of building performance and wellness integration across all studios.

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate of a NAAB accredited architectural program with a bachelor’s level degree, or an undergraduate degree from an environmental or sustainable design/high-performance building design program
Credentials for LEED Green Associate, Fitwel Ambassador, and/or WELL AP
2-4 years professional experience in building performance analysis, with practical experience assisting in pursuance of LEED certification at least two (2) LEED projects, and at least one (1) Fitwel or WELL project.
Specific experience with the LEED Multifamily Midrise and/or National Green Building Standard (NGBS) rating systems targeted.
Mid-level proficiency in building performance simulation programs such as FenestraPro or Insight equivalent
Proficiency with energy modeling principles and water balance analysis
Experience with local municipal Green Building Incentive Policies in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, New York, Charlotte, and Atlanta
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complicated sustainability concepts to terms digestible by members of the design team, clients and building users
Basic technical skills: Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel. Ability to quickly learn required software programs including Revit, Sketchup, and Adobe CS.
Strong understanding of integrated building systems
Strong sustainable design communication and documentation skills.

Preferred:

LEED Accredited Professional (BD+C, ID+C, or ND)
Experience with whole building Life Cycle Assessment (wbLCA) and embodied carbon calculations using EC3 and software including Tally LCA or equivalent.
The International Living Future Institute Living Future Accreditation (ILFI LFA) professional and experience on Living Building Challenge project certification.
Knowledge of Regenerative Design strategies

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Effectively discuss sustainable practices with Clients, Contractors, Consultants and internal staff
Support pursuance of Green Building LEED Project Administrator
Advise and support project teams and participate in educational and operational instruction and awareness
Effectively communicate LEED requirements to project teams and/or consultants including Commissioning Agents, Energy Modelers and Engineering Consultants
Support project teams through the certification management of rating systems like LEED, Fitwel and WELL, assisting with early target-setting and documenting technical support
Ensure project graphic, written and analytical documentation is clear, complete, and concise
Support project teams during early design phases in implementing baseline building performance targets
Assist Project Architect in exploring sustainable design alternatives
