Senior Sustainability Project Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sustainability Project Engineer to develop and execute plans for new sustainability projects for Westlake Plants for emission reduction, energy reduction, hydrogen, renewable electricity, and carbon capture and manage the associated portfolio of projects in these areas. This role will perform tasks to ensure renewable project development including pre-feasibility studies, project design, economic analysis, etc. You will be responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost, technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. In addition, you will establish a close collaboration with all of the relevant internal and external stakeholders (technology providers, engineering service providers, local authorities, plant leadership teams, etc.).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety
Develop the projects and perform pre-feasibility studies based on SBU priorities and manufacturing strategic priorities on energy and emission reduction
Perform technical and economic evaluation of projects and define their business case
Manage internal and external consultants and service providers
Facilitate and stimulate plant ideas for emissions and energy reduction projects
Work with site leadership teams, capital project team, and external providers to obtain all permits, licenses, and authorizations required to develop projects
Conduct data analysis and research to support commercial opportunities
Track progress and prepare and communicate updates and recommendations
Monitor external developments and strategies on technology, hydrogen, green power, and carbon capture

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

BS Degree in Engineering required
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a chemical plant
Demonstrated project management experience with ability to develop and manage multiple projects
Intermediate financial analysis acumen
Prefer knowledge/experience in emissions reduction technology
Strong collaboration, facilitation, organization, interpersonal, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to make sound decisions based upon technical information
Proficient computer skills, with good working knowledge of all standard company applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
Self-directed and motivated with good leadership skills

Sustainabilty Data Analyst

Responsibilities

Provide quality assurance of imported Greenhouse Gas data from global manufacturing sites, working with site ambassadors if necessary.
Training new site ambassadors on Greenhouse Gas data reports and dashboards.
Reviewing historic GHG data reports to identify issues and/or gaps.
Analyze and track GHG metrics across global locations towards achieving set goals.
Liaise with cross-functional teams to fulfill miscellaneous global GHG data requests from site ambassadors.

Sustainable Transportation Program Assistant

Penn State Transportation Services is seeking to hire a full-time Sustainable Transportation Program Assistant, reporting to the Sustainable Transportation Program Manager. The Sustainable Transportation Program is committed to the promotion of transportation options that help to reduce traditional single occupancy vehicle travel while also maintaining a safe shared space for all. Additionally, this program promotes healthy active transportation as well as Penn State’s overall goals of reducing the campus’ environmental impact such as through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The primary sustainable transportation programs being supported by this position include biking, car share, transit, ride share, and pedestrian safety. This position’s specific duties will include: best practice benchmarking with peer institutions, support for Bicycle Friendly America application, assist with the creation and implementation of a more robust carpool and ridesharing program, bike rack checks, bike counts, bike infrastructure planning support, and bike education workshops. This position will also assist in providing customer service for our RIDEpass transit pass program and general support for campus biking, transit, pedestrian safety, car share, rideshare, and bike share programs, to include staffing tables and assisting at education and community events. Strong customer service and communication skills (written and verbal) are a must due to frequent interactions with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Must be able to work well with direction, be comfortable with working both indoors and outdoors, have a moderate degree of confidence and comfort around bikes, and have competent working knowledge of programs within MS Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. This position will typically work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Program Manager, School Sustainability

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Spearheads development and execution of District-wide programs of sustainability policy, environmental stewardship, energy conservation, and environmental literacy through the integration of education, research, facilities and operations. Assists in the development, articulation and implementation of the District’s vision of sustainability and promotes this vision internally and externally.

Manages the development, in collaboration with Career and College Success STEAM teams, of climate literacy within the classroom through curriculum development, internships, project-based learning opportunities, and career & technical pathways in support of the district’s climate action plan.
Collaborates across departments and with outside third parties to develop and implement economically justified sustainability projects, initiatives and campaigns; supports and helps organize departmental and school green teams and sustainability clubs to help drive behavioral changes to an overall culture of sustainability within the District.
Develops, identifies and delivers professional development on sustainable behaviors and works with teachers to integrate sustainability education into curriculum; develops and/or identifies sustainability curriculum for teachers to use, creating a clearinghouse of resources for teachers with clear links to State and District education standards; and supports teachers and students as an expert in sustainability to help drive behavioral changes through education, experiences, competitions and more.
Measures, tracks and disseminates progress towards District sustainability goals via data gathering and reporting; represents District in the local community and region as well as at regional and national sustainability meetings.

Collaborates with third parties (e.g. businesses, city) to ensure the District is utilizing all support resources and energy and water efficiency incentives to drive sustainability initiatives, reduce resource consumption and drive down expenditures.
Monitors energy and water use and works across departments to address problems in energy and water usage; makes recommendations regarding methods, behaviors and technologies to reduce waste, save energy, save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase environmental awareness among students, staff and the larger District community.
Assists with the grant application process for projects related to sustainability and environmental instruction in classrooms, energy and water efficiency, vehicle electrification, renewable energy and others in support of sustainability initiatives.
Works cross-functionally to create, implement and monitor environmentally and ethically responsible purchasing and reduce food waste and to disseminate information on sustainability best practices and opportunities.

Collaboratively organizes annual sustainability and garden forum for the larger District community.

Green Infrastructure Coordinator

The City of Minneapolis is seeking highly motivated, flexible and creative thinkers to join the Surface Water & Sewer and Transportation Planning & Programming Divisions of Public Works to facilitating inclusion of green infrastructure and sustainable landscaping into city transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of stormwater management related to improving water quality and/or reducing flood risk, functional green infrastructure design, community engagement, grant funding opportunities, and transportation planning to support a wide range of project activities. This will include the development, evaluation, and implementation of green infrastructure in association with transportation projects, plans, programs and systems. This position will be expected to foster collaboration and partnerships across many Public Works divisions, other City departments, residents, property owners, businesses, members of the community, non-profits, elected officials, and other regional agencies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate across Public Works divisions to identify, prioritize, and incorporate green stormwater infrastructure and sustainable landscaping for regulatory transportation projects.
Provide coordination, planning, design, engagement and process oversight for green stormwater infrastructure and sustainable landscaping for regulatory and non-regulatory capital projects.
Lead in shaping and manage the City’s vision and policies related to green stormwater infrastructure and sustainable landscaping.

Federal Clean Energy Campaign Manager

Wisconsin Conservation Voters is running an innovative consumer education campaign that educates Wisconsinites on how they can benefit from President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan, the largest investment in clean energy in world history. This person will do community presentations, lead volunteer door-to-door canvasses, build relationships with key stakeholders, and work with the Wisconsin Conservation Voters team to implement all aspects of this campaign. This campaign manager position reports to the Deputy Director, can be based anywhere in Wisconsin, and will work closely with the Visual Storyteller Manager, government affairs team, communications team, and field team. Specifics of the job include:

Community organization presentations: You will schedule and complete presentations to community organizations across the state on President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan.

Supporting organizational outreach: You will be responsible for developing relationships with community organizations following presentations and support them in educating their communities and members about the clean energy benefits available.

Director of Facilities and Sustainability

The Director of Facilities and Sustainability manages the University’s total physical plant operations including, but not limited to, work management system, building maintenance, building projects, energy efficiency projects, environmental sustainability initiatives, new construction, landscape and grounds maintenance, and capital project planning. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

Minimum Education level:

Bachelor’s degree in a facilities-related discipline plus at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience, including facilities and environmental sustainability program management, in a complex facilities environment, is required (in higher education preferred) or, a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.

Computer skills:

High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with a work order system in a similar setting.

Other Requirements of the Job:

Supervisory experience is required. Excellent project management and organizational skills and the ability to routinely manage multiple tasks are essential. Fellowship – Sustainability

The Town of Acton is looking for a Sustainable Building Fellow to support the “Energy Efficiency and Electrification for Allâ€ initiative funded by the MassCEC Empower Grant. The work is being conducted in a collaboration between the Town of Acton Sustainability Office and Planning Department, Acton Climate Coalition, and BlocPower. We are looking for applicants with an interest in: Clean energy, energy efficiency, electrification, data analysis, communication/marketing, public outreach, and program/project management

General Duties and Responsibilities: The scope of the work will include: Research on best practices, programs, and opportunities to reduce energy use, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and improve the building performance of multi-family buildings, ensuring benefits are passed on to tenants. Development of outreach materials. Development of final report consolidating research best practices and findings from BlocPower BlocMap. Research grant opportunities and laying the groundwork for future funding opportunities for multi-family building energy efficiency improvements, clean energy siting, and building electrification. Research the implications of energy efficiency and electrification on gentrification, displacement, and renter costs (ex. shifting from landlord heat to renter electrical bills). Participation in weekly and bi-weekly project meeting check-ins with the team. Participation in events engaging landlords and property managers and meetings with local organizations

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, building science, architecture, clean energy, urban and regional planning, public administration, communications, business, or a related field. Ability to work closely in a small team environment. Willingness to learn quickly

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or currently pursuing their Master’s degree in environmental studies, sustainable building systems, engineering, urban and regional planning, public administration, business, communications, or a related field. Sustainable Design Engineer

The Secure Power Sustainability Team is looking for a Sustainable Design Engineer to help ensure that product offers are developed to deliver improved sustainability profiles and lower carbon footprints, as well as to conform with regulatory and other corporate sustainability requirements.

What will you do?

Support global product design teams to improve the sustainability profiles of new products by:
Assisting in defining Sustainability design objectives
Providing sustainability expertise on complex topics, such as carbon accounting, Life Cycle Assessments, Eco-Design Assessments, and the evolving compliance landscape
Validating achievement of Sustainability design objectives
Conducting compliance reviews
Supporting the development of sustainability proof-points for marketing use
Develop and/or evolve design standards, tools, and processes that enable product design teams to perform basic tasks independently
