Sustainability Manager

As the Sustainability Manager for Foodbuy, you will be a subject matter expert and responsible for building and executing joint sustainability plans across the organization. You along with the Foodbuy sustainability team will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and the supplier base, to drive sustainability improvements, and management of sustainability goals and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Continue to expand our utilization of CIW/Fair Food certified produce and maintain best in class partnership with the CIW/Fair Food Program
Develop plans and work with outside consultants to deliver against Compass’ 2050 Net Zero Targets: data improvement, supplier engagement, identify/share best practices across supplier base, improve carbon literacy within the organization, and integrate Net Zero considerations into existing processes
Engage with Compass PLC global teams, representing Sustainability for Compass USA in partnership with Envision Group
Work in close collaboration with Legal team and Public Relations department to manage actions and response to news events
Prepare content and present to company leaders and key clients with sustainability targets
Develop new processes and identify tools (i.e. Sedex) to improve Supply Chain Risk Management for topics such as human rights
Partner with Supplier Diversity team to manage Local and Diverse programs, especially in the produce category (i.e. Foodbuy’s Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Farmer program)
Maintain and continue to build the strong working relationship with key Corporate (Envision Group) and sector stakeholders
Partner and collaborate with sourcing and category managers to plan actions against all sustainability commitments and goals: Eggs (cage free), Dairy (rbGH-free), Poultry (NAE), Pork (Gestation Crate Free), Local (20% spend), and more
Support tracking for and react to national and state regulatory changes related to sustainability such as animal welfare, single use disposables, and other topics. Engage with category managers, distribution and legal to execute and ensure legal compliance.
Provide support to provide insightful and accurate sustainability reporting, continuous improvement of data quality, and ongoing tech/data enhancements to improve reporting and access to data

Sustainability Program Manager

This position oversees sustainability program development across operational units, campus partners, and engagement programs. Manages the daily operations of the Office of Sustainability. This position is a key contributor to FSU’s progress in meeting its sustainability goals.

Develops, implements, and manages sustainability-related programs and initiatives in partnership with operational units and campus partners. Serves as the liaison between the Sustainable Campus and operational units to assist in the ongoing development of implementation plans that help achieve sustainability targets, including waste minimization, energy conservation, resource stewardship, and educational integration. Assists with the management and guidance of operational activities that help create a culture of sustainability. Researches, recommends, and implements actions to address emerging issues and best practices.
Develop and maintain a process for data collection, storage and accessibility for all datasets that are identified as sustainability metrics. Manages data acquisition and management of sustainability benchmarking and reporting portfolio. Perform analyses of sustainability indicators and creates data visualizations. Works with communications teams to provide transparency, interpretation of the data, and progress on reporting and institutional commitments.
Lead in the general management of the Office of Sustainability and takes on new projects as identified in conjunction with the Director. Responsible for managing administrative, HR, and financial activities of Sustainable Campus outreach programs; provides budgetary oversight of related programs. Provides oversight to outreach curriculum development to align with overarching sustainability goals. Supports programmatic fundraising efforts.
Manages Green Office certification program and associated trainings. Co-administers the Green Fund in support of campus sustainability projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience related to facilities and/or grounds services; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience in the same.
(Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to eight years in the same.)

Climate Communications Manager

The Illinois Environmental Council Education Fund (IECEF), the sister organization to the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC), is looking for an experienced professional to manage a climate-focused portfolio within our communications team. Sustainability Intern

Reporting to the Sustainability team, the Sustainability intern is responsible for aiding members of the Sustainability team about project management, research, and analytics around existing and future composting and sustainability projects. Throughout the internship, the Sustainability Intern will form daily and weekly plans to support the team with prioritization of projects and tasks. The candidate will work both independently and as part of the team. This is a part time seasonal position with approximately 30 to 40 hours of work per week from June 5 to August 4. $12.50 per hour plus living accommodation for the above period on property. Senior Store Operations Specialist, Sustainability

The Senior Store Operations Specialist, Sustainability partners with the Manager of Store Operations and the TJX Environmental Sustainability Department to establish and drive strategies to support the company’s sustainability efforts, commitments and goals by championing and evolving the HomeGoods/Homesense Store Operations sustainability program. They focus on working to increase the amount of waste materials diverted from landfill and increase recycling (corrugate, plastic, etc.) in TJX’s HomeGoods and Homesense stores and drive other operational efficiencies throughout the chain.

The BS&DG is seeking a PhD intern – Building Energy Research to support its research into building energy efficiency and building energy modeling. The summer internship will be three months and could be extended.

Associate Programs Director

All In Energy is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to advance an inclusive clean energy economy. We bring energy efficiency and renewable energy to underserved communities, while increasing job opportunities for diverse talent in the clean energy industry.

We are seeking a dynamic Associate Programs Director with expertise in designing and leading community trainings, a passion for mentoring early-career staff, and a strong systems mindset to join our Program team. This is an exciting new role focused on deepening the expertise and expanding the skillsets of our team and our 30+ community partners to more effectively reach residents and small businesses in underserved communities with energy efficiency programs. This role will also be critical in refining our internal systems and processes to ensure the smooth operations of our Program team and tight coordination with our community partners and to support our organization’s growth over the next five years. The Program team is managing a range of community partnerships to initiate local outreach campaigns in historically underserved areas throughout Massachusetts. A significant portion of their efforts is aligned with the Mass Save Community First Partnership (CFP), an initiative sponsored by local gas and electric providers (referred to as “Mass Save Program Sponsors”). This initiative aims to boost participation in Mass Save energy efficiency programs. The team’s primary emphasis is on Environmental Justice Communities (EJCs), which have historically had lower participation rates in these programs.
