The Climate Solutions Accelerator is an inclusive, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to inspiring and facilitating a large-scale climate mobilization in the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. Our mission is to create a healthier, more equitable, and environmentally sustainable community by catalyzing local efforts to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and address the effects of climate change.

Position Overview: The Accelerator is hiring a Residential Energy Advisor. This Advisor will connect consumers to clean energy technologies as part of a state-wide NYSERDA-funded Regional Clean Energy Hub program, with a special focus on increasing the adoption of these technologies in NYSERDA-designated “Disadvantaged Communitiesâ€ (DACs). The Energy Advisor will learn to serve all residential clients, but will also specialize in assisting multi-family and manufactured/mobile housing. Along with other team members, the Energy Advisor will be responsible for aspects of developing and managing the initiatives outlined below. Specific tasks will include vetting installers, identifying financing options, providing technical assistance, and contributing to public outreach, education, and marketing activities.

This position is aligned with the Finger Lakes Clean Energy Hub, a regional effort to increase consumer awareness and uptake of clean energy products, technologies, and opportunities. The Energy Advisor will assist in advancing local capacity to engage community residents, especially those who are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis. As part of the Hub, the Energy Advisor will also coordinate with the AMPED campaign, which serves as the marketing and outreach arm of the Clean Energy Hub. This campaign will expand to residential in September 2023 to reflect the entire population served by the Hub.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Serve as the primary organizational contact for customers that are interested in energy technology upgrades, to connect them to qualified contractors and support their participation in relevant incentive programs
Identifying and braiding funding sources/financing options
Ongoing project management and oversight while serving as a liaison between customers and contractors
Serve as a technical consultant for potential enrollees, answering questions about clean energy technologies, energy efficiency audits, and referred installer quotes
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Finger Lakes Clean Energy Hub by:
Noting barriers to access in clean energy adoption
Increasing familiarity with underutilized NYSERDA programs that may help clients adopt clean energy
Contributing to marketing and communicating a clear message for consumers looking to maximize energy efficiency
Enroll and track enrollees using Salesforce
Organize opportunities for public engagement and education, including:
Plan, publicize, coordinate, and deliver public presentations
Plan, publicize, and coordinate tours of houses/buildings where clean energy technologies have been installed
Participate in check-in calls with NYSERDA, program partners, and the installer(s)
Participate in best practices sharing calls with other community campaigns
Track expenses, participant recruitment, and volunteer engagement
Submit reports and invoices as required by NYSERDA and campaign partners
Participate in statewide and national efforts to promote building electrification, health housing, etc.
Spread information on NYSERDA program changes and opportunities
Stay up-to-date on new developments in clean energy and energy efficiency technologies

Qualifications: The successful candidate for this position will be efficient at project management and client stewardship. This position will require a good deal of autonomy and sound decision-making abilities. An ideal candidate will have experience interfacing with clients and providing unbiased support throughout each client’s unique journey in pursuing clean energy upgrades to their home. They will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Clear, consistent, and accurate reporting on outcomes from their work is essential. This position will require expertise in clean energy technologies and opportunities. Pre-existing familiarity with these technologies is preferred.

Qualifications

8+ years professional experience; 3-5+ years managing sustainability or ESG within a large matrix environment
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM or business with technical expertise on energy and data center topics
Understanding of greenhouse gas inventory best practices including use of renewable energy market instruments to make claims
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks: Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Science-based Targets, SASB, TCFD, CDP, Greenhouse Gas Protocol
Familiarity with compliance requirements and pending requirements: U.S. SEC Climate Risk Disclosure, EU CSRD, EU Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, EU Climate-Neutral Data Centre Operator Pact, etc.
Experience leading cross-functional annual sustainability reporting requirements including GHG inventories
Advanced Excel expertise building financial models and analyzing energy and carbon emissions
Articulate, executive presence, comfort with negotiations and supplier engagement
Ability to support global time zones

Communications Coordinator – Clean Energy Jobs

The Clean Energy Jobs team is responsible for developing, supporting and delivering the AFL-CIO’s work on clean energy, climate, and good jobs. The team’s goal is to ensure that the number of good union jobs in clean energy goes up. To achieve this, the team supports AFL-CIO affiliated unions, state federations of labor, and central labor councils in organizing new jobs and helps them to secure existing good union jobs.

Over the next two years, the Federation’s priority is to ensure that federal investment in clean energy produces the maximum number of good union jobs, particularly for young, black, and brown workers, and for women.

The Communications Coordinator for Clean Energy Jobs develops content for, coordinates, and ensures the dissemination of communications about the AFL-CIO’s work and positions on clean energy jobs and climate. The Coordinator works closely with the Public Affairs and Clean Energy Jobs teams to develop and disseminate messages in internal and external channels.
An immediate priority is positioning AFL-CIO’s President on clean energy and climate issues in major and specialist media as well as other channels.

Director of External Relations, Sustainability

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of External Relations for Sustainability for the Office of Climate Action. This position reports to the Senior Director of Climate Action and Sustainability and works closely with staff in other units at Rutgers, including the Department of External Affairs. This is a 3-year appointment with the possibility for renewal based on evaluation of outcomes.
In order to support Rutgers’ operational climate goals as they relate to climate change mitigation, adaptation, research, and training, the Director of External Relations for Sustainability will:

Sustainability Coordinator

This position reports directly to our Director of Sustainability and will help advance Natick’s net zero and climate resiliency goals. Regular duties include: measuring and monitoring energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions; planning and supporting capital projects to electrify Natick’s municipal buildings and fleet; and assisting the community-at-large with climate action. In this dynamic role, you’ll have the satisfaction of taking projects from start to finish, and seeing the impact of your work at the local level.

The Town of Natick is a Green Community and has made strides to reduce its fossil fuel use through a variety of municipal projects, including solar systems, building energy efficiency, street light upgrades and the decarbonization of heating/cooling systems. Natick was one of the first communities to hire a dedicated Sustainability staff member in 2014 and is eager to expand the Sustainability team with this position.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Energy or Environmental Policy or other related field, plus a minimum of two years of professional experience in sustainability planning, energy efficiency and/or renewable energy market; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

This position is Grade 3 of the town’s pay plan with a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000; actual salary is dependent upon qualifications.

Sustainability Outreach Coordinator

Qualifications and Skills

Director of Sustainability

The Director of Sustainability provides guidance and vision for the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) by fulfilling the College’s goal of fostering a culture of innovation to support sustainable solutions. This position is responsible for strategic development and operational management of the CSD. This position manages the Associate Director, Zero Waste Manager, as well as well as student graduate assistants and interns that work in the office.

The Center for Sustainable Development Manager will work closely with stakeholders across the organization and community, as well as the other department heads within Facilities Management.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree related to environmental science, environmental studies, sustainability or directly related fields and three (3) to five (5) years of work experience leading sustainability initiatives for a large organization.

Master’s degree related to environmental science, environmental studies, sustainability or directly related field is preferred. Proven experience in higher education leading sustainability programming is desired. LEED Accredited Professional or closely related sustainability credentials is also preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Manager, Tire Recycling and Sustainability Programs

Job purpose

Develop and implement USTMA programs designed to create opportunities for economically and environmentally sustainable tire recycling and reuse markets, and manage risks and challenges associated with sustainable management of tires at the end of their lives in use.

Duties and responsibilities

Work with the Senior Director, End of Life Tires and other USTMA colleagues to support and advance Association programs to promote environmentally and economically sound uses of scrap tires.
Educate stakeholders, including government officials and industry representatives and the public about proper scrap tire management.
Participate in industry coalitions. Collaborate with the Scrap Tire Work Group, an unincorporated association of state scrap tire regulators.
Conduct research, collect data and publish reports on scrap tire management and end uses in theUnited States.
Manage contractors and consultants to extend USTMA capabilities and resources.
Effectively communicate with USTMA member companies about activities, based on priorities set by USTMA management and member companies.
Liaise cooperatively with other USTMA staff managing related issues on behalf of the tire industry.

Qualifications

Four-year college degree required. Advanced degree in law, business, environmental science, engineering and/or related field helpful.
At least 5 years relevant professional experience. Trade association, scrap tire industry, recycling program management, tire industry, tire retail or related field helpful.
Understanding of legislative and regulatory processes on the federal and state levels essential.
