The Director for Clean Energy will support client engagement, strategy development, regulatory and policy research, and government affairs execution for leading clean energy companies, non-profits, trade associations, and financial institutions. Core responsibilities and competencies include:

Environmental Planner

The City of Scottsdale is hiring an Environmental Planner to create plans, policies and programs that enable city employees to comply with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. This position interacts with all city departments in coordinating environmental compliance with air quality permits, state and county environmental reports, and underground storage tank requirements. The Planner also works with city departments on internal sustainability programming and messaging, leading the city Green Team, and assisting with the greenhouse gas inventory.

Education and Experience

This Principal Program Lead, Sustainability role will lead the development and oversee the implementation of Chick-fil-A’s renewable energy strategy. Technical Professional Associate – Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization

The Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Research & Analysis (MEERA) Group in the Manufacturing Science Division (MSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking applicants for a technical professional position including communications support in the area of energy efficiency and decarbonization for industry sector. This position augments ORNL’s industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization team that is operating in support of DOE’s Better Plants and Better Climate Challenge programs. The mission of the MEERA group is to research, analyze, and disseminate knowledge on energy, carbon, water, and material efficiency in the manufacturing sector and develop, deploy, and promote impactful practices, tools, and technologies. MEERA group is a part of ORNL’s Manufacturing Science Division in the Energy Science and Technology Directorate. The position is located in Oak Ridge, TN.

Through its energy efficiency & decarbonization technical assistance programs, MEERA group develops a diverse portfolio of industrial energy efficiency tools and resources which are delivered to the manufacturing sector through various technical assistance and training events worldwide. MEERA group actively supports industry partners in improving manufacturing plant energy efficiency and decarbonization via roles in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Plants and Better Climate Challenge programs.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist ORNL’s Better Plants team in organizing virtual in-plant trainings (VINPLTs), managing virtual training sessions online, working with DOE system experts in developing training documents, quizzes, etc. VINPLTs offered by the Better Plants program are multi-session virtual trainings delivered by industry-recognized experts. VINPLTs include virtual training sessions that train the attendees to identify energy conservation opportunities, quantify savings from those opportunities, and implement projects to realize the energy and cost savings.
Assist ORNL’s Better Plants team in organizing in-person in-plant trainings (INPLTs), Energy Bootcamps, and Carbon Bootcamps. Candidate will maintain in-person in-plant training and bootcamp databases and develop monthly program impact reports to share with DOE program manager. The candidate will assist in developing training agendas, interact with energy experts, and manufacturing companies to coordinate training activities.
Work with ORNL’s Better Plants program manager and maintain technical resources (reports, fact sheets, software tools, etc.) on DOE as well as ORNL Better Plants websites.
Provide communications support to the Better Plants and Better Climate program. The candidate will author articles, blogs, and reports on the topics of Energy Efficiency, Decarbonization and Sustainability.
Demonstrate proficiency in Excel and be able to perform data processing, manage databases, and perform quality checks to support DOE Better Plants Reporting.
Support the development of effective communication strategies and lead efforts to disseminate program information to industrial stakeholders.

Instructor or Lecturer in Environment Science, Sustainability and Geographic Information Systems

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Undergraduate Studies is seeking applications for an instructor or lecturer in Environmental Sciences (ES), Sustainability, and Geographic Information Systems (pending program approval). The anticipated start date of the position is August 2024. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure earning position with an expected teaching load of eight courses per academic year and the possibility of optional summer teaching.

The primary responsibility of this position is teaching regularly offered undergraduate courses in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, and Geographic Information Systems with particular focus on core courses, planning, urban systems and the built environment and the potential for additional ES and GIS courses. The instructor or lecturer will also provide appropriate service to the university and program, including coordinating the GIS certificate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree (for an instructor) or doctoral degree (for a lecturer) in Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning, Sustainability, Biology, or related discipline from an accredited institution at time of application.

Professional experience in sustainability and urban systems.

Potential for research production in Environmental Sciences or Sustainability.

Ability to teach in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, and Geographic Information Systems.

Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.

Ability to engage with web-based instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Documented research experience in Environmental Sciences.

Documented teaching experience in Environmental Sciences and Geographic Information Systems.

Evidence of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level.

Experience with web-based instruction.

Significant experience with professional use of Geographic Information Systems.
