Renowned for its accredited researched-based undergraduate field programs, Wildlands Studies seeks candidates holding an MSc or PhD to be the Lead Instructor for a new field program in Spring 2025. Students consistently report that their Wildlands Studies experience added depth and meaning to their on-campus classes and “changed their lives”. Wildlands Studies instructors enhance their own credentials with unique opportunities to teach in the field while engaging students in active research.

The Lead Instructor will direct students on an academically rigorous, wilderness-based six-week field study to explore habitats and cultures of specific international locales. We are specifically seeking new international locations that will attract students and cover a wide variety of topics and terrain within our mission. We specifically welcome proposals for Japan, South America (new locations), Mongolia, Tanzania or another location in southern Africa, the Pacific Islands, Tasmania, Papua New Guinea, Madagascar, or other areas that will easily attract students. Students earn 15 quarter credits for three field classes covering Environmental Studies, Field Research Practices, and Environment and Culture. Lead Instructor is responsible for on-going seminars, lectures, instruction, guided field work and field methods, and assessment of all student work, as well as group dynamics and the overall well-being of participants. Requirements

Knowledge and experience of field study location required. Applicants must have Masters degree in hand; PhD Candidates and/or completed PhD preferred. A qualified Lead Instructor will have experience leading field study programs and teaching at the undergraduate level, specifically upper division environmental studies classes; a good sense of humor, flexibility, patience, and understanding; be a physically fit experienced outdoorsperson capable of leading students on day hikes and multi-day overnight backpacking trips; a capable and skilled group facilitator able to spend 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with up to 16 students aged 18-23 for the duration of the program managing associated interpersonal dynamics; an accomplished logistical planner capable of managing the overarching and day-to-day logistics, program finances and communications; certified in First Aid and CPR (preferably WFR) and able to competently and confidently manage medical emergencies and other medical situations should they arise. Purpose

We seek a Director of Development & Strategic Engagement who will bring strategic thinking, creativity and passion to lead NECEC’s revenue generating activities that ensure the organization can maximize its impact. The Director would lead our dynamic membership program for climate economy companies and our sponsorship program for NECEC as a whole and across our programs such as Cleantech Open Northeast and Cleantech Navigate. The Director will also be responsible for developing and implementing innovative revenue generating programs such as an affinity program and equipment purchasing program for our members. The Director will coordinate engagement with philanthropic givers such as foundations and high net worth individuals as well as NECEC’s grant seeking efforts. The Director will develop annual fundraising plans and oversee all aspects of the cultivation cycle and pipeline development, coordinating closely with the President and NECEC staff to deliver on fundraising growth goals.

Essential Functions

Corporate Giving: Sponsorship & Gifts

Develop and manage a portfolio of corporate philanthropic relationships for sponsorships and philanthropic gifts, leveraging existing NECEC corporate partners and identifying new corporate giving prospects based on capacity, propensity, and issue alignment
Represent NECEC in corporate relationship development, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts, bringing in senior leadership and board members as appropriate
Network with appropriate organizations to build organizational presence in corporate philanthropy spaces
Explore and make recommendations on programs to increase corporate giving revenue, such as employee giving, corporate matching gifts and in-kind support

Foundation & Government Funding

Conduct research and provide information with NECEC leadership about federal and northeast states’ government and foundation funding opportunities and landscape
Develop network of advisors and appropriate organizations to increase knowledge and ability to act on upcoming federal and state funding opportunities aligned with NECEC Institute programs, including opportunities to apply in coalition or as a subgrantee

Membership Services

Lead collaborative cross-organization work to develop and provide outstanding membership services to NECEC members, including onboarding them to NECEC.
Develop and implement NECEC’s affinity and equipment purchasing programs as well as other unique revenue-generating membership benefits in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer
Develop relationships with prospective members to convert them to paying members
Manage relationships with existing members in conjunction with NECEC program staff and provide them with excellent customer service

General Fundraising Support

Develop multi-year fundraising and engagement plans with clear measures of success, aligned with NECEC strategic plan.
Support and partner with the CEO and Board members on all major fundraising initiatives, guiding and deploying their activities as needed.
Assist senior leadership in developing weekly revenue reports based on funding pipeline and support the Finance team to update monthly revenue forecasts
Lead coordination meetings and other efforts to ensure effective fundraising collaboration and action across NECEC staff and board members
Manage NECEC’s customer relationship management (CRM) so that it is an effective tool for relationship management and lead tracking and support teams to keep information current.
Serve as the staff liaison to the board’s fundraising committee
Coordinate with the Staff Accountant to ensure members, sponsors and funders are invoiced appropriately and assist with follow-up as needed if members or sponsors are delayed in paying invoices
Regularly gather feedback from NECEC contributors and stakeholders to understand how we can continuously improve and best serve their needs in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer
Develop systems, tools, dashboards and/or reports, etc. fueled by the CRM to provide real-time information on opportunities and progress towards fundraising goals
Manage relationship and proposal development for new philanthropic prospects identified by NECEC leadership and board
Collaborate with communications staff to develop branded fundraising materials (case for support, stewardship materials, member and sponsor benefit descriptions, onboarding materials for new relationships, etc.) for use for corporate philanthropic engagement
Oversee proposal development, report development, and contract writers

Requirements & Qualifications Qualified candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in relationship/partnership/membership management. The position requires a motivated, self-starter with strong communications and relationship management skills. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate:

Proven experience in corporate philanthropic relationship development across the donor lifecycle (identification, prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) and securing 6+ figure gifts

Sustainability Coordinator

The Sustainability Coordinator is part of the Operations team at Moody Center. This position will support with clerical functions such as reporting, data collection and tracking. The Sustainability Coordinator will also assist with creating and enforcing program policies and procedures.

This role will pays a wage of $19.23 to $21.63.

Climate & Energy Intern

The National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL) seeks a highly motivated intern to join the team for 5-6 months to support our Climate & Energy program throughout the 2024 legislative session. The intern will assist in bill tracking and highlights, legislative material creation, event planning for state legislators, and outreach/recruitment. Analyst, Sustainability

SUMMARY

The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of JOANN’s environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) program, including project and program management, researching of ESG trends and issues, and compiling and analyzing key ESG metrics and data. This role will interact on a day-to-day basis with Team Members from across the company to deliver on key ESG priorities including but not limited to, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories and reduction strategies, climate and ESG-related public reporting and disclosures, and product sustainability/circularity initiatives.

JOB DUTIES

Support annual GHG emissions inventory efforts including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 related data collection and coordination with external vendor.
Collect and analyze ESG baseline metrics to support JOANN’s ESG strategy implementation.
Support climate and ESG-related reporting by drafting content, preparing presentations, and compiling data to meet TCFD, SASB, GRI and/or CDP requirements.
Work with cross-functional teams to identify, implement, and track emissions reduction strategies including energy management and circularity.
Participate in existing internal teams to advance key social and governance company priorities.
Monitor peer companies/emerging ESG trends to position JOANN as an ESG leader.
Monitor state and federal policy relative to ESG to assess impact on business operations and objectives.

The Director of Sustainability leads and drives all aspects of Hallmark Global’s sustainability strategy which is 80% of the enterprise climate goals and strategy. In this role, you will collaborate with directors across the Hallmark Enterprise to develop and execute sustainability strategies, goals, and metrics. You will serve as the subject matter expert to advise the sustainability owners and their teams at the company on best practices in sustainability and on possible initiatives in support of the company’s sustainability strategy. You will also develop and communicate to senior leaders, recommended changes to corporate PI strategy and direction in the quickly evolving area of sustainability. Finally, you will manage the package engineering team who deliver compelling packaging solutions for Hallmark product lines including: greetings, gift presentation, packaged expressions, celebrations, gifts and ornaments. You will lead this team to develop sustainable solutions that also meet the needs of the consumer, retailer and licensor.

Specific accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of enterprise-wide strategies in renewable energy, product and raw material sustainability, forestry/paper (net zero deforestation), supply chain, and corporate business operations. Ensures marketing claims about product sustainability are in legal compliance.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain environmental strategies and programs for the Oasis at Death Valley operations and departments in conjunction with the General Manager, Department Directors, and the Corporate Director of Sustainability.
Ensure legal compliance with state, federal, and National Park Service (NPS) environmental statutes and regulations to minimize legal liabilities from potential hazards. This includes, but is not limited to, regulatory requirements governing the management of hazardous materials, hazardous waste (RCRA), universal waste, ozone depleting substances, asbestos, lead, pesticides, fuel storage and dispensing, and wastewater management.
Maintain certification of the Our Softer Footprint® Environmental Management System (EMS) under ISO 14001:2015 standards including successful completion of annual internal and external audits.
Manage the 2-megawatt, on-site, photovoltaic array. This includes direct oversight of all third-party contractor (cleaning, preventative maintenance, and repairs) personnel, capital and budget planning, inspections, interaction with the electric utility, and all array operations.
Co-manage (with the Engineering Department) the on-site wastewater treatment plant. This includes regular reporting to pertinent agencies, regular inspections of the plant operations, management of personnel, oversight of third-party contractor personnel, capital planning, permitting, and all plant operations.
Develop, present, and document staff training on all relevant sustainability and environmental compliance topics, including at new employee orientations.
Track all utility use through Xanterra’s Ecometrix platform including GHG emissions, electricity, electricity from on-site photovoltaics, propane, gasoline, water, wastewater, waste, universal waste, various recycling streams, sustainable cuisine, single-use plastics elimination, and others.
Cultivate a culture of sustainability through effective leadership, setting an example, messaging campaigns, inspections, certification and awards, and other means of ensuring accountability.
Establish and maintain standards for departments in conservation and environmental goals in areas such:
Solid waste management including recycling, diversion and composting where applicable.
Energy and water efficiency of operational systems (including renewable energy)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, or related field.
Three years of experience with environmental management or projects

BCS has an immediate opening for a sustainability manager to join our growing team supporting the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Sustainability Performance Office (SPO). The sustainability manager will lead a team that provides a range of planning, administrative, information management, programmatic, technical, and support services. Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

Assist in the research and development of operational sustainability projects, such as waste diversion trainings, energy use tracking, composting, and forest health and environmental education initiatives.

Assist in data tracking for annual greenhouse gas emissions inventories.

Work with different business units and Departments to increase the data collected regularly.

Support on mountain inventories, site assessments and program development for these projects.

Support employee and community events that promote sustainability by preparing event collateral, coordinating event details, and tabling at events. As part of this work, help develop agenda, materials, and slides for monthly Green Team meetings.

Support communication of the work of SSRC’s sustainability work, including preparing blogs, fact sheets, presentations, social media, and beekeeper posts

Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:

Pursuing or completion of college degree in relevant field required

Previous experience, lived, educational, and/or professional, working to advance sustainability preferred

Interest in understanding more about corporate sustainability

Ability to research and document research in an efficient and clear manner

Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication ability

Self-directed and motivated to conduct work without continuous supervision

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

Ability and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams

A curious mindset and appetite to learn, with solid analytical and problem-solving skills

Understanding and managing budgets

Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk to parts of the mountain that are only accessible on foot.

Must be at least 18 years of age

Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written

Miscellaneous information:

This is an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay

Position requires working weekends and holidays as needed
