Responsibilities

Sustainability Specialist

Auxiliary & Business Services at Penn State University is seeking a Sustainability Specialist to lead activities and projects across the Auxiliary & Business Services (A&BS) portfolio to make operations more sustainable. The Sustainability Specialist will promote a strong culture of sustainability by maintaining and building partnerships across Penn State, engage staff to be part of solutions, collect and report sustainability-related performance metrics, and work to increase opportunities for students’ hands-on involvement to advance sustainability performance at various Penn State campuses.

The key components to this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

Strategy & Planning:

Collaborate with university leadership and departmental teams to develop and implement a sustainability strategy that alights with Penn State University’s sustainability goals.
Create and maintain a comprehensive sustainability plan for Auxiliary & Business Services, setting clear objectives, targets, and timelines.

Participate in sustainability related groups outside of A&BS such as the Sustainable Operations Council, Student Sustainability Advisory Council, and Big10&Friends Sustainability Group.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, students, faculty, and external partners, to promote sustainability awareness and collaboration.
Continuously foster a culture of sustainability within the department through educational and outreach efforts.

Compliance & Analysis:

Collect, organize, and report on various sustainability metrics and use that information to advocate and plan for improvements, ensuring A&BS and Penn State leadership is kept updated on sustainability progress and challenges.
Communicate sustainability progress. Present the sustainability ratings and rankings and underlying data to internal and external audiences to increase transparency and recommend continuous improvements.
Stay up to date with relevant sustainability regulations and certifications and ensure compliance with all sustainability-related regulations and requirements.

Fiscal Responsibilities:

Manage the sustainability budget effectively, including grant applications and funding opportunities, seeking and leveraging external funding sources whenever possible.
Identify opportunities for resource efficiency and cost savings within departmental operations through sustainable practices.
Research and recommend sustainable technologies and practices that align with the department’s goals.

Education & Experience:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus 7 years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Other Required Skills:

Demonstrated experience in sustainability program development and implementation.

Sustainability Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Sustainability Advisor develops and implements recycling and diversion programs and assists in the promotion of the Company’s recycling efforts. The Sustainability Advisor works directly with the Company’s customer base via telephone, onsite visits, events, trade shows and outreach educational programs to identify and educate them on proper recycling techniques to improve the quality of materials received at our Recycling Center(s).

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors and evaluates existing commercial and special event recycling programs and makes recommendations for educational and service improvement.
Coordinates and provides input and strategic guidance regarding the customer collection schedule with the Operations department.
Creates, develops and implements food waste recycling outreach programs and collateral material for use in promoting food waste education, recycling, and diversion to schools and businesses within the market service area. Drafts, organizes and conducts classroom presentations and responds to inquiries about recycling and other waste reduction programs.
Drafts, compiles and disseminates communications to customers to assist them in eliminating materials that contaminate recycling waste.
Creates or assists in the creation of the Company newsletter, semi-annual/annual reports, brochures, pamphlets, ads, slide shows, and other related Company publications for internal and external use.
Performs commercial waste audits/assessments and recommends service levels for waste and recycling. Conducts and participates in waste characterization studies upon request. Provides customers written reports of findings and recommendations.
Compiles statistics for contractual food waste recycling tonnage reports, analyzes data for accuracies and trends. Analyzes monthly reports on outreach activities and maintains a calendar of reporting deadlines.
Participates in researching the availability of grants and other funding sources for recycling and waste reduction projects and assists in securing applicable funds.
Builds relationships and increases Company visibility to promote recycling and diversion programs through participation in community events, trade shows, chamber of commerce meetings and other applicable events.
Organizes and completes proactive scheduled phone block activities to establish initial and follow-up appointments with customer decision-makers.

Senior Sustainable Design Analyst

Corgan is seeking a Senior Sustainable Design Analyst to join its dynamic and expanding ECHO team of sustainable design experts to lead, manage and support a wide array of projects ranging from aviation, data centers, education, interiors and others. You will contribute to and manage several concurrent projects supporting the design team on topics including but not limited to: design and assessment of various projects; bespoke sustainability frameworks; environmental and energy analytics; health and well-being design strategies; energy transfer studies; material use; third party certifications; GHG emission analysis; coordination of sustainability assessments and benchmarking of building projects. You will also work on projects which focus on the development of climate impact mitigation and resilience strategies. The role will challenge you to work across interdisciplinary teams with a wide range of client and project types.

Energy Conservation Manager

Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Energy Conservation Manager in the Facilities – Central Administration department, Central Services Building in Rockville. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00pm. This is an exempt, non-bargaining, grade 35 position. This position is eligible for telework up to one (1) day per week, after successful completion of initial employment probationary period.

This position serves as the program manager for the College’s energy conservation program. The incumbent advises senior management on college procedures regarding energy management and implements strategies to reduce the consumption of energy. Life Cycle Assessment Specialist, Sustainable Buildings

On Noblis’ sustainability team, we are dedicated to addressing our planet’s biggest environmental challenges, including climate change. We are seeking a professional who will be a member of our sustainability team supporting Federal government customers. Our sustainability team conducts analyses that support the development of policy and provides sustainability subject matter expertise in support of sustainable facilities initiatives across the United States Government.

As a life cycle assessor on our team, you will help develop modeling techniques and conduct analyses to understand life cycle impacts of products and buildings, support greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies, improve efficiencies, and reduce other environmental impacts from materials and procurement to whole buildings.

You will have the opportunity to participate in other sustainability initiatives as well, such as developing educational/training content, quantitative ESG and economic analysis, supporting circular economy and EPD-related initiatives.

Assess potential life cycle environmental impacts of technologies, products, and buildings by applying a range of life cycle assessment (LCA) and other related methodologies (e.g., EPD).

Manager of Sustainability Policy

As the Manager of Policy for Sustainability, you will develop and advocate for sustainability positions of the preeminent global companies in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. As a key member of the ITI’s Sustainability Policy Group (SPG), you will engage in domestic and international policies related to sustainability policies throughout the full product life-cycle.

You will also support ITI’s product sustainability engagement globally and, as appropriate, work with the SPG team to support broader sector initiatives, including industry efforts to drive global alignment of product materials, content regulations, data center efficiency, and regional/country-specific regulations.

You will be responsible for:

Leading ITI’s Energy Efficiency Committee and Repair Task Group, providing support to the Green Procurement Committee and overall support to ITI’s Sustainability Policy Group as needed.
Support of The Green Grid (TGG) operations, including managing TGG’s internal processes as needed.
Providing thought leadership and support to leading IT companies in relation to established and emerging ES&R priorities across the full product life-cycle
Representing ITI as an expert and resource before domestic and international governments, standards development organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on ITI-formulated sustainability policy positions.
